Chapter 215: It’s all the main body’s fault

Chapter 215: It’s all the main body’s fault

Even the guild master who had been secretly listening in couldn’t help coming out with a shocked look on his face as he asked, "You’re actually 18? How could that possibly be?"

I just raised the card to show them.

This Adventurer’s Guild card actually had a line for age, it was just that no one paid attention to it since they had been trying to figure out the secret behind the strength that I had shown before.

When they looked at it, they were shocked to find that I was indeed 18 years old like I said.

Then they couldn’t help looking at me with strange looks on their faces.

I didn’t blame them since I knew the reason that they were looking at me like this.

If I was in their shoes, I wouldn’t believe it either since I looked like I was just a little kid.

However, when this avatar was created, the main body chose to make it look like a little kid because it wanted this avatar to be as unassuming as possible.

No one would think that a little kid would be able to do anything harmful.

Just like how everyone in this Adventurer’s Guild branch assumed that I was too young to become an adventurer.

The thought process of the main body was to have an avatar that was unassuming so that they could go around and look for treasures for the rest of us. That was why I was sent here to become an adventurer in the first place.

After all, adventurers had the ability to explore the entire continent.

This was really the best identity possible to go around looking for treasures.

Still, it was all the main body’s fault that I had to suffer this much just trying to register as an adventurer.

Once they confirmed that I was indeed how old I said I was, they all looked at me with even stranger looks.

They knew that there wouldn’t be a mistake with the Adventurer Card since that was a special magic item that was crafted by the headquarters of the Adventurer’s Guild. That was a place that was filled with even more monstrous S Rank Adventurers, so it wasn’t something that could be fooled that easily.

But they just couldn’t believe that I was this old based on how I looked.

I didn’t bother explaining anything else since it didn’t seem like explaining it to them would even help them understand.

After all it really was hard for anyone to believe me based on the appearance that I had.

So instead of trying to get them to understand, I just simply said, "Now that I’m an adventurer, I should be able to take missions, right?"

The receptionist was the first one to come back to her senses before slowly saying with a nod, "That’s right. The board is over on that side, so please feel free to pick any missions that are up to C Rank. If you wish to take a B Rank or higher mission, then we’ll have to review it and give you special permission to do so."

The others seemed a bit surprised to hear this, but then they looked like it was only natural.

I knew the reason why they were acting this way.

After all, I already knew the rules of the Adventurer’s Guild from my past life’s knowledge.

The Adventurer’s Guild had a rule that adventurers weren’t able to take missions that were one rank higher than their current rank.

This was naturally done to ensure that the right people took the right jobs and it maintained the professionalism of the Adventurer’s Guild.

After all, if people were too weak took these jobs and failed them, that would look bad for the Adventurer’s Guild.

For them to give me this special privilege to choose jobs that were two ranks higher was clearly them showing me special preference. Though in the first place, I had shown that I was strong enough to fight against a former A Ranker, so there weren’t any concerns that I wouldn’t be strong enough for these missions.

If they could, they wouldn’t have started me at just D Rank.

They would have made me much higher than just D Rank if they weren’t bound by the rules of the Adventurer’s Guild.

So that was why they had to find their own way of making an exception and this was it.

Even the guild master didn’t have anything to say about this, so it was clear that this was something that he had proposed.

I said with a nod and a smile, "Thank you."

This time, the receptionist looked at me with a strange look.

It was almost as if...

Perhaps it was because she knew that I was legal that she revealed this kind of look.

However, it seemed dangerous that she was looking at me like this.

The receptionist wasn’t actually the only one that was looking at me like this.

There were others that were also looking at me with the same strange look and all of them were young women...

Were there really that many of them that had the same preference?

For my own sake, I chose to ignore these looks and went over to take a look at the mission board.

After looking for a bit, I took one mission over to the receptionist desk.

"Are you sure that you want this one?" The receptionist asked in a surprised voice.

With a simple nod, I said, "That’s right. Since I’m a beginner, I should start at the beginning."

All of the other adventurers looked at me with strange looks.

After all, I had picked a fight with the guild master one moment and then the next, I had taken a F Rank Mission. F Rank Missions were the lowest ranked missions possible in the Adventurer’s Guild.

Not to mention that this was one of the most simple quests which was just to gather herbs.

They really didn’t know what to make of me, but I didn’t mind since it didn’t matter what they thought about me.

Though I couldn’t help thinking that it was still the main body’s fault.
