Chapter 208: A slime’s life (11)
"Are you sure that this was where their village was?" I asked Leon, the former chief of the kobold village that I named.
Leon looked around for a bit before saying, "This should be the place. It was here that I met them last time."
Though he said this, he didn’t actually seem confident about what he said.
After all, there was no trace of what he said should have been here.
Since he couldn’t find anything, it was my turn to see if I could find anything.
I had avoided using my Mana Vision since it would be rude to just release mana into this place like that. After all, what Mana Vision was was a scan of this area with mana.
For creatures that were sensitive to mana, this would be considered an assault since it was slamming them with mana.
If it was an enemy, then it wouldn’t matter.
But if it was someone that we were trying to befriend, then it wouldn’t make sense to do something like this.
And this group that I was looking for with Leon was a group that I was trying to befriend.
So in the end, all I could do was wait for him to try and find them.
However, it didn’t seem like Leon knew what he was doing which made me lose even more confidence in him.
After a while, Leon seemed to have lost his patience and directly said, "I am the kobold that brought you the gift last time. Will you come out and meet me?"
My lips couldn’t help twitching when I heard him say this.
I didn’t think that the other side would respond to this, but I was surprised to find that I was wrong.
After Leon said this, there was a change that came from the surrounding area.
It was just that it wasn’t a good change.
With a sigh, I raised my hand and created a barrier of water around us. Even though the roots that were created were sharp, they weren’t able to pierce through this barrier of water.
While these roots tried stabbing through the barrier I created, I asked Leon, "Are you sure that you’re friends with them? Why does it seem like they hate you?"
A wry smile appeared on Leon’s face before he said, "Well, it must be because they think that I’m here on behalf of someone else."
This was true, but I knew that this wasn’t what he meant.
The last that this group should have heard was that there was someone that was attacking the kobold village.
So in the minds of this group, either the kobolds were killed and someone was using their appearance right now. Or the kobold had been enslaved and they were acting on someone else’s behalf.
In short, there was no situation where it was good to see Leon.
"Then what was the point of bringing you along?" I asked with a sigh.
Once again, there was a wry smile that appeared on Leon’s face, but instead he said to the people, "I am here on behalf of someone, but they just want to talk. I hope that you’ll send someone out to talk to him."
There was a lull in the sharp roots stabbing the water barrier after he said this.
After a moment of silence, there was someone that appeared.
It was a little girl who suddenly appeared out of a flower on the ground, but one shouldn’t be fooled by her appearance. Even though she looked like a little girl, she really wasn’t that young.
"We treated you as a friend and you betrayed us like this?" The little girl asked Leon.
Leon just said, "No, it’s because I see you as friends that I brought him here today. I hope that you will give him a chance to speak."
The little girl narrowed her eyes before turning to look at me after Leon said this.
I just looked at her with a smile on my face.
But it didn’t seem like she cared as she still looked at me with a hostile look in her eyes.
In the end, it seemed like there was no choice.
With a single snort, the situation changed.
The little girl’s expression also changed when she felt the mana that was hitting her.
It wasn’t just that, it was all of the plants that were in the area that were shaking because of this.
Once I was done putting on a show, I asked, "Is there a need for me to do all of that? I think that this should have made it very clear what is possible if I really wanted to harm you."
The little girl didn’t say anything as she looked at me with a complicated look, but eventually she gave a slow nod to show that she agreed with me.
With that, there were other little girls that appeared out of the flowers and plants all around us. All of them had some kind of feature that was related to the flower or the plant that they came from, showing that they were related to them.
That was because these little girls were related to these things since they were wood nymphs.
They were spirits, but they were also classified as monsters in this world.
Once they all came out, I said, "I have a proposal for all of you."
The wood nymphs narrowed their eyes to look at me, but the one that spoke for them previously said, "What kind of proposal?"
At least it seemed like they were willing to hear me out.
However, the moment that they heard what I had for them, they all looked at me with very strange looks as if they were asking if I was being serious or not.
I just calmly looked back at them and said, "I’m serious about this."
"We’ll need some time to discuss this..." The wood nymph said in a tentative voice.
I gave a nod and turned to leave with Leon.
After all, I was confident that they would agree.
