Gu Changsheng’s expression was grim. On his own territory, Ye Kunlun had shown him no respect whatsoever.
As the saying goes, show respect for the Buddha even if not for the monk. Ye Kunlun was simply too arrogant!
But Gu Changsheng knew he was no match for him.
If they were to fight in Qintian Tower, and he lost again, his reputation in the capital would be ruined.
Qintian Tower’s transcendent status would be compromised.
Gu Changsheng stepped forward and pressed several points on Huang Zhen’s body, finally stopping his pain.
However, Huang Zhen’s meridians were severed, and he had been completely crippled by Ye Kunlun. Recovery would not be a quick process.
If Gu Changsheng gave up on him, Huang Zhen would likely spend the rest of his life confined to bed.
“Junior Ye, aren’t you a bit too heavy-handed?”
Gu Changsheng looked at Huang Zhen’s miserable state, his voice icy.
“Heavy-handed?” Ye Kunlun scoffed. “Gu Changsheng, if I hadn’t held back just now, he’d be nothing but a corpse. You actually call me heavy-handed? You truly don’t appreciate my kindness!”
Gu Changsheng was furious.
Nangong Yunshao watched Gu Changsheng and Ye Kunlun from the side, finding their conversation odd, sensing hidden meanings in their words.
“Alright, keep your disciples in line from now on. If they offend me again, don’t expect me to show you any more face!”
With that, Ye Kunlun ignored Gu Changsheng’s darkening face and went downstairs to leave.
“Master, I, I want to kill him!!”
Huang Zhen still had a sliver of consciousness and hadn’t fainted. Intense hatred flickered in his eyes.
“Guards!”
Gu Changsheng called out softly.
Soon, two disciples stepped forward.
Gu Changsheng instructed, “Send Huang Zhen back to the Huang family to recuperate for now. Tell Huang Huahou that Ye Kunlun is not to be provoked yet!”
“Yes!”
Huang Zhen was taken away.
Nangong Yunshao then spoke, “Master, do you know Ye Kunlun?”
Gu Changsheng nodded. “We’ve met a couple of times. This young man has decent cultivation, but he’s too arrogant. In the deep waters of the capital, he might not survive long!”
Upon hearing Gu Changsheng’s words, Nangong Yunshao showed a hint of surprise.
This was unlike the master she knew.
After a moment of thought, Nangong Yunshao asked, “Master, it’s rare for you to speak so decisively. Have you perhaps discerned Ye Kunlun’s fate?”
Gu Changsheng was taken aback, his expression softening. He shook his head and sighed, “I was simply angered by this brat.”
“This child’s destiny is extremely peculiar. When the Yellow Wine Immortal went to challenge Mo Rufeng at the Thunderclap Sect, I tried to glimpse it, but was obscured by a certain aura.”
“Thinking back now, it must have been this child’s.”
Nangong Yunshao seemed thoughtful and asked, “Master, you once mentioned that Qintian Tower would face a calamity. Could this calamity also fall upon Ye Kunlun?”
Gu Changsheng remained silent for a few seconds, then nodded.
Nangong Yunshao, however, looked contemplative. After a moment, she replied, “Master, I have met Ye Kunlun three times. While he is somewhat arrogant and presumptuous, he doesn’t seem like someone with ill intentions or wicked thoughts.”
Nangong Yunshao paused here, then continued, “Therefore, I don’t believe Qintian Tower’s calamity should befall him.”
Hearing Nangong Yunshao’s words, Gu Changsheng’s eyes showed surprise.
He had never seen Nangong Yunshao speak so much for someone, especially considering her broken engagement with Ye Kunlun and how she almost lost her life after he took the Star Soul Jade.
Yet, Nangong Yunshao was now defending Ye Kunlun.
“Disciple, have you been bewitched by him?”
Gu Changsheng frowned, looking at his most beloved disciple.
Nangong Yunshao shook her head and replied, “Master, I am merely stating what I have seen, and stating a fact.”
“Hmph!”
Gu Changsheng let out a displeased snort. “I think you’ve been dazzled by this brat. You are not allowed to go anywhere for the next few days. Reflect properly at Qintian Tower!!”
With that, Gu Changsheng left, a trace of dissatisfaction on his face.
Only after Gu Changsheng left did Nangong Yunshao come back to her senses.
Gu Changsheng’s behavior was somewhat unusual. Especially after seeing Ye Kunlun, his emotions were clearly out of control.
Moreover, as an observer, she could clearly see Gu Changsheng’s hostility towards Ye Kunlun.
This led Nangong Yunshao to some speculation.
“Never mind, I won’t worry about Master’s affairs.”
Nangong Yunshao shook her head.
—
Ye Kunlun left Qintian Tower and headed straight for the Yixiu Teahouse where he had arranged to meet Tang Zhuozhuo.
Tang Zhuozhuo wore a long red dress that day, resembling a blazing, passionate flame from a distance.
She sat by the window, fiddling with the tea set in her hands.
Ye Kunlun walked towards her.
Hearing footsteps, Tang Zhuozhuo’s movements paused. She then poured tea for Ye Kunlun, her eyes curving upwards. “You’ve come at just the right time.”
Ye Kunlun smiled. “It’s better to arrive at the right time than to arrive early. What important matter required you to find me so early in the morning?”
Tang Zhuozhuo wouldn’t seek him out without reason; there must be something important she wanted to discuss.
“Did you go to see Nangong Yunshao?” Tang Zhuozhuo asked, not answering Ye Kunlun’s question directly.
Ye Kunlun nodded and replied, “Yes, I was handling some matters concerning the Nangong family.”
“By the way, has your Tang family’s wordless book, has Old Madam Tang told you anything?” Ye Kunlun inquired casually.
“You can ask my grandmother yourself,” Tang Zhuozhuo said with a smile. “First, try and see how this Snow Region Red Seed tea tastes.”
Ye Kunlun had already smelled the faint tea aroma. He picked up the cup and downed it in one go. “I’ve been drinking this tea like water for a long time.”
The Snow Region Red Seed was indeed a top-tier black tea, but in Kunlun Void, there was a mother tree of Snow Region Red Seed that was thousands of years old, its quality far surpassing that of the tea before him.
To Ye Kunlun, the top-tier black tea in Tang Zhuozhuo’s eyes naturally became ordinary tea, no better than plain water.
Tang Zhuozhuo’s expression stiffened, and she reached out and took away Ye Kunlun’s teacup. “Then don’t drink it.”
Ye Kunlun was stunned and somewhat speechless. “You’re being too stingy! I can’t even speak the truth?”
“No!”
Tang Zhuozhuo huffed, displeased. “So what if you’ve drunk better tea than Snow Region Red Seed? Without this young lady personally brewing it, it still lacks some flavor.”
“Alright, alright, whatever you say is right.” Ye Kunlun couldn’t be bothered to argue with Tang Zhuozhuo, wanting only to know why she had sought him out. “Let’s talk business first.”
Tang Zhuozhuo took out an invitation from her bag and handed it to Ye Kunlun. “Take a look at this.”
Ye Kunlun took it and looked, showing some surprise. “It’s an invitation from Mount Tai Prefecture.”
Opening the invitation and reading its contents, Ye Kunlun looked thoughtful.
Tang Zhuozhuo observed Ye Kunlun’s expression and asked, “You said our Tang family is not a martial arts family, nor a cultivation family, nor an ancient martial arts sect. Why would Mount Tai Prefecture invite us to jointly explore the Yellow Springs Secret Realm?”
