Overlord Star

Chapter 464 Doubting Shen Lu

"You can't escape!"

Jiang Yi lunged at the man in black.

Soon, Jiang Yi and the man in black were locked in combat.

The man in black was incredibly agile, and his moves were devious. Anyone else would have been a corpse by now.

"Swoosh!"

Jiang Yi's fruit knife grazed the man in black's arm.

Simultaneously, the man in black was knocked to the ground by Jiang Yi.

"The number one killer in China is nothing more than this!"

Jiang Yi grinned.

The man in black stared intently at Jiang Yi before bolting into the depths of the woods.

It was clear from their brief exchange that the man in black was no match for Jiang Yi. His sole objective was to protect Qiu Fang, who had already escaped. Therefore, there was no need for him to continue the entanglement with Jiang Yi.

"You can't get away!"

Jiang Yi chuckled and gave chase.

The man in black was injured, and his movements lacked their previous agility. Escaping from his grasp was virtually impossible.

Jiang Yi pursued him all the way to the road.

It was night, and there were very few vehicles on the road, with hardly any pedestrians in sight.

Suddenly, a motorcycle sped towards them.

Seeing this, the man in black hopped onto the motorcycle and made a swift escape.

Jiang Yi took a deep breath.

He had been careless this time, not anticipating that the man in black would have backup.

If not for the timely arrival of reinforcements, the man in black would surely not have escaped.

"Damn it!"

Jiang Yi couldn't help but curse.

The man in black's skills were impressive; even Chen Kun might not have been his match.

Jiang Yi was certain that this person was Hong Hu, the captain of "Shadow."

Unfortunately, she had gotten away!

Hong Hu had fallen into a trap this time and would undoubtedly become more vigilant. It would be much harder to capture her again next time!

Throughout the entire Wan Hui Company, it was likely that only Hong Hu and Qiu Fang knew the identity of the big boss.

Seeing that it was getting late, Jiang Yi returned home.

As soon as he entered the living room, he saw Li Ping, Dong Rui, and Chen Kun discussing company matters.

Jiang Yi scanned the living room but did not find Shen Lu.

"Where is Shen Lu?" Jiang Yi asked.

"Shen Lu isn't feeling well and is resting in her room!"

Li Ping replied, then asked Jiang Yi, "Is there something you need Shen Lu for?"

"No, I was just asking casually!" Jiang Yi said.

Afterward, Jiang Yi bid them farewell, intending to take a bath and get a good night's sleep.

Having been active all day, Jiang Yi felt utterly exhausted.

Upon reaching the bathroom, as Jiang Yi was about to shower, he discovered that the faucet was broken, making it impossible to wash.

Jiang Yi had no choice but to go to the bathroom downstairs.

As soon as he entered, he saw women's clothes in the basin.

Jiang Yi inadvertently noticed bloodstains on one of the garments.

This made Jiang Yi pause.

Jiang Yi picked up the clothes and found a cut on the right arm, clearly made by a sharp dagger. Near the edge of the cut were some red bloodstains.

This reminded Jiang Yi of his fight with Hong Hu earlier.

Hong Hu had been injured on her right arm.

"Creak..."

The bathroom door was suddenly pushed open.

Shen Lu walked in from outside.

Upon seeing Jiang Yi, Shen Lu paused in surprise.

"The upstairs bathroom isn't working, so I..." Jiang Yi began to explain.

"It's fine, you go ahead! I'm already done!"

Shen Lu smiled at Jiang Yi, then picked up the basin from the floor and left the bathroom.

Jiang Yi watched Shen Lu's retreating figure, his brow furrowing slightly.

The bloody clothing belonged to Shen Lu.

If that was the case, then Hong Hu, who had fought him, might be Shen Lu.

But what Jiang Yi couldn't understand was that, logically, Shen Lu shouldn't be Hong Hu!

Jiang Yi felt uneasy!

This matter needed to be clarified.

Hong Hu was a ruthless killer. If Shen Lu truly was Hong Hu, then his mother and the others would be in danger.

Shen Lu knew that he was targeting the Wan Hui Company. She knew everything he was doing.

It wasn't that he didn't trust Shen Lu, but this matter was of great importance, concerning the lives of everyone around him.

Jiang Yi took a deep breath and walked towards Shen Lu's room.

Reaching the door of Shen Lu's room, Jiang Yi raised his hand and knocked.

After nearly a minute, Shen Lu finally opened the door.

"Do you need something?" Shen Lu asked.

"Yes!"

Jiang Yi nodded and then asked, "May I come into your room?"

Shen Lu smiled and nodded.

Jiang Yi entered Shen Lu's room and closed the door.

"What are you doing?" Shen Lu asked.

"I heard you were sick, and I was worried, so I thought I'd help you with some treatment!" Jiang Yi said.

Hearing this, Shen Lu's delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly.

"No need, I was just a bit dizzy earlier, and I'm much better now. You don't need to trouble yourself!" Shen Lu said quickly.

Seeing Shen Lu's somewhat panicked expression, Jiang Yi's suspicion grew.

Shen Lu was a composed person; she wouldn't panic over such a trivial matter. She must be hiding something from him.

"I want to ask you something!"

Jiang Yi's gaze fell upon Shen Lu as he asked, "Do you know Hong Hu?"

Hearing this question, Shen Lu seemed taken aback!

"I don't know her, but I've heard of her," Shen Lu replied. "Hong Hu is a top assassin in China and also a member of Wan Hui Company. She rarely shows herself, and very few people have seen her."

"I've met Hong Hu!" Jiang Yi said.

Hearing this, Shen Lu couldn't help but laugh. "Although you are now part of Wan Hui Company, it's impossible for you to have met Hong Hu..."

"I'm not lying to you. Just now, I set a trap, deliberately trying to assassinate Qiu Fang. Before I could make a move, Hong Hu appeared and directly engaged me. I injured her, but unfortunately, she managed to escape," Jiang Yi explained.

Shen Lu simply said "Oh" and remained silent.

However, her eyes held a complex expression.

"May I see your arm?" Jiang Yi asked.

Shen Lu took a deep breath.

"No need to look. I do have an injury on my arm, and I am the Hong Hu you are looking for."

Shen Lu looked at Jiang Yi with a complicated gaze, a self-mocking smile appearing on her face. "I believed my skills were unmatched in China, yet I never expected to be defeated even by you!"

Jiang Yi's brow furrowed deeply.

It seemed his suspicion was correct; Shen Lu was indeed Hong Hu.

"Before, you kept asking about my identity. Now you know! I have nothing more to say!" Shen Lu said.

Jiang Yi remained silent, recalling their first meeting.

At that time, no matter how he looked at Shen Lu, she didn't seem like the bloodthirsty Hong Hu.

"I want to know, what was your purpose in approaching me?" Jiang Yi asked.
