"You've truly gone too far," Jiang Yi said speechlessly. "You're interrogating me in front of all these people as if I were a criminal."
"I just want to remind you constantly," Dongfang Mei stated, her voice filled with anger. "There are still rumors about Alice and you in the news, saying Alice is your mistress. I don't know how Alice feels, but I am furious!"
"Those news companies twist the facts solely to attract public attention," Jiang Yi said, a hint of indignation in his voice. "For their own benefit, they completely disregard other people's feelings. It's truly hateful!"
"Then isn't there anyone to manage them? They are clearly distorting the truth!" Dongfang Mei furrowed her brow.
"Don't forget, this is Eagle Country!" Jiang Yi replied. "No more talk. Let's rest. I have to go to the Chamber of Commerce tomorrow to meet President Martin and get the approval expedited. Only then can I start my company and develop my influence in Eagle Country's business circles."
Jiang Yi finished speaking and, seeing no reaction from Dongfang Mei, turned to look at her. To his surprise, he found that she had already fallen asleep! This left Jiang Yi somewhat stunned. Dongfang Mei could sleep so deeply. Lately, she had been like a sleepy bug, falling asleep the moment she lay down. Jiang Yi suspected it might be due to her pregnancy. The weather in Eagle Country had been quite poor these past few months, and Jiang Yi, worried that Dongfang Mei might catch a cold, carefully pulled the blanket up to cover her before lying down beside her and falling asleep.
The next morning, Jiang Yi woke up at six-thirty. After washing up, he went to the lobby. He discovered that Li Tao had already arrived and was waiting for him in the lobby. Fearing he would be late, Jiang Yi skipped breakfast and got into the car with Li Tao, heading for the Chamber of Commerce.
An hour later, they arrived at the entrance of the Chamber of Commerce. It was now seven-thirty. Although the agreed-upon time was eight o'clock, Jiang Yi had arrived half an hour early. Upon entering the lobby, Jiang Yi walked to the counter and spoke to a receptionist. "Hello, my name is Jiang Yi. Please inform President Martin that I have something I need his help with."
"Are you from Huaxia?" The receptionist glanced at Jiang Yi, then her expression turned disdainful. This wasn't because Jiang Yi was dressed ordinarily. To ensure he could meet President Martin successfully, Jiang Yi had specially worn a branded suit that Dongfang Mei had bought for him earlier, a suit worth over three hundred thousand. The receptionist's attitude had nothing to do with his attire, but rather because he was from Huaxia. In the receptionist's eyes, people like Jiang Yi weren't even qualified to meet President Martin.
"I am from Huaxia!" Jiang Yi replied. "What? Is there a problem?"
"No problem, I was just asking," the receptionist replied indifferently.
"When can I see President Martin?" Jiang Yi asked.
"President Martin hasn't arrived at the Chamber of Commerce yet. Please wait. Once President Martin arrives, I will inform you!" The receptionist finished speaking and then ignored Jiang Yi, picking up her cup to pour coffee.
Li Tao called out to the receptionist several times, but the receptionist completely pretended not to hear. This greatly angered Li Tao.
"Alright, we'll wait. This is their territory, so calling out is useless!" Jiang Yi said. "Didn't that receptionist just say President Martin hadn't arrived? We'll wait in the lobby, and President Martin should pass through the lobby later."
Hearing this, Li Tao had no choice but to give up. Jiang Yi was also very displeased, but since it was their territory, he had to endure it even if he was unhappy. The company approval matters had to be settled today, without any further complications. If it continued to drag on, his uncle would find out, and there would be even more obstacles.
Jiang Yi and Li Tao sat down on the sofas in the lobby, waiting for President Martin. However, they ended up waiting for half an hour. It was now eight o'clock, but President Martin had still not appeared.
"We'll probably have to keep waiting. In Eagle Country, being late like this is quite normal. Even though it was scheduled for eight in the morning, we should expect to wait for at least another hour or two," Li Tao remarked. Having lived in Eagle Country since childhood, Li Tao was very familiar with such situations.
Jiang Yi felt a pang of annoyance. He had woken up early to meet President Martin, only to have to wait for several hours after arriving at the Chamber of Commerce.
"Mr. Jiang, Tert has arrived..." Li Tao whispered to Jiang Yi.
Jiang Yi heard this, turned his head, and indeed saw Tert, dressed in a black suit and carrying a briefcase, walking in from outside the lobby. Tert was the director of the Chamber of Commerce and held a high position and status within it. Everyone in the lobby quickly went to greet Tert upon his arrival. Tert, with a cold expression, did not acknowledge anyone.
"Mr. Tert, have you encountered any unpleasant matters? If you tell us, perhaps we can help," a portly boss asked.
"You can't help me!" Tert frowned. "My mother is critically ill and her life is hanging by a thread. I've sought many renowned doctors, but none could cure her. Only one person can cure my mother, but this fellow is an absolute scoundrel who wants to scheme against me."
"Who dares to scheme against you with such audacity? Tell us, and we'll go and deal with them!" the portly boss said.
Just as Tert was about to speak, he inadvertently spotted Jiang Yi sitting on the lobby sofa. A cold killing intent flashed in Tert's eyes.
"Kid, you've got some nerve, daring to come to the Chamber of Commerce to court death!" Tert walked directly towards Jiang Yi.
"The Chamber of Commerce isn't owned by you, so why can't I come?" Jiang Yi sneered.
"The Chamber of Commerce is indeed not owned by me, but don't forget, company approvals are my responsibility. If I don't approve, you'll never be able to start a company here in your lifetime," Tert said, his face grim.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yi couldn't help but laugh. Tert thought too highly of himself!
"If you beg me now and obediently go to treat my mother, I might consider processing the approval documents," Tert stated, staring at Jiang Yi.
"What right do you have to make me apologize? The one who should apologize is you. However, you don't need to apologize, because your apology is useless to me. I will absolutely not treat your mother."
"I've seen through your character long ago. If I cure your mother, you won't thank me or help me resolve my company establishment. Instead, you'll turn around and bite me," Jiang Yi retorted.
Hearing this, Tert's face became even more somber. He wished he could kill Jiang Yi with his gaze. At this moment, those around them had already heard clearly that Jiang Yi was the divine physician Tert had mentioned earlier. In an effort to curry favor with Tert, they immediately began to threaten Jiang Yi.
