Chapter 27 Disappointment

"Jiang Yi, we were classmates. Please, spare our Xu family!" Xu Hui pleaded with Jiang Yi, his previous arrogance gone, looking like a stray dog.

Jiang Yi ignored Xu Hui.

Just then, a motorcade sped into view.

The car doors opened, and Chen Kun stepped out.

Following him were leaders of the business association.

Upon receiving Jiang Yi's call, Chen Kun immediately warned companies cooperating with the Xu family. He then went to the Jiangcheng Business Association, found the chairman, and rushed to the Royal Hotel with the association's members, fearing the Xu father and son might harm Jiang Yi.

After their previous encounter, Chen Kun had been diligently serving Jiang Yi, terrified of offending him.

This opportunity to deal with the Xu family was a prime chance for Chen Kun to curry favor with Jiang Yi.

Chen Kun respectfully greeted Jiang Yi, then cast a stern gaze at Mr. Xu and Xu Hui, saying in a low voice, "You truly have a death wish to dare cause trouble for Master Jiang! You're asking for death!"

The Xu father and son looked utterly despairing.

"Master Jiang, how should we handle them?" Chen Kun asked Jiang Yi.

"Handle it as you see fit!" Jiang Yi replied.

"Understood!"

Chen Kun promptly responded.

He then glanced at Mr. Xu and Xu Hui and asked the supervisor of the Jiangcheng Business Association, "The Chen father and son are suspected of commercial crimes. How many years can they be imprisoned?"

"Up to ten years!" the supervisor replied quickly.

"Ten years is not enough. If they are released, won't they harm others? Can we find a way to sentence them to forty to fifty years? Is that possible?" Chen Kun inquired.

"No problem," the supervisor nodded.

Jiangcheng's economic development lagged slightly behind other cities. The members of the Jiangcheng Business Association had little influence, and the Chen family had always supported them.

When the Chen family asked the Jiangcheng Business Association to act, the association naturally complied.

All the staff of the Jiangcheng Business Association were people connected to the Chen family.

"Also, besides the Chen father and son, we can't let other members of the Chen family off easily. Deal with anyone you can!" Chen Kun instructed.

"I understand!"

The supervisor nodded. "Anyone related to the Chen family, our association will not let them off."

Hearing this, Chen Kun nodded in satisfaction.

Chen Kun intended to eliminate the Chen family completely.

To please Jiang Yi, Chen Kun acted ruthlessly.

"Take them away!" Chen Kun ordered.

The supervisor acknowledged, directly ordering men to drag the Chen father and son into a car. They were treated like dead pigs.

"Master Jiang, do you have any further instructions?"

Chen Kun scanned the surrounding people and asked Jiang Yi, "If there's anyone you want to deal with, just tell me. I promise to make them regret ever being born."

Everyone was so terrified they dared not even breathe.

Even the dominant Xu family of Jiangcheng had met such a fate. For Jiang Yi to kill them would be easier than crushing an ant.

Especially Hua Xiaomei and those who had mocked Jiang Yi earlier, their hearts were now in their throats.

"You can go about your business. I don't need anything at the moment!" Jiang Yi said.

"Yes!"

Chen Kun acknowledged and then drove away.

Only after Chen Kun's car disappeared from sight did everyone heave a sigh of relief.

Everything that had just happened felt like a dream.

They never expected the Chen family to personally intervene to help Jiang Yi deal with the Xu father and son, and that Chen Kun would be so deferential to Jiang Yi.

To assist Jiang Yi against the Xu father and son, they had directly mobilized the Jiangcheng Business Association.

In Jiangcheng, no one had such immense influence.

Even a fool could see that the Chen family was trying to appease Jiang Yi.

Ye Yanran was also shocked. She hadn't fully believed that the head of the Chen family would come to Jiangcheng to find Jiang Yi, but now the reality was before her eyes.

Was this still the Jiang Yi she knew?

Ye Yanran kept asking herself.

The others also questioned themselves. Where was this good-for-nothing? He was clearly a Yama, and whoever provoked him would suffer.

Now, even if they were given ten times the courage, they wouldn't dare utter a disrespectful word to Jiang Yi, for fear of meeting the same fate as the Xu father and son.

Soon, everyone surrounded Jiang Yi, trying to get close to him.

"Jiang Yi, you're amazing! Even the dominant Chen family of Jiang Province takes orders from you."

"When we were studying with Jiang Yi, I felt he was no ordinary person. My intuition was correct."

"Of course, Jiang Yi isn't ordinary. Who in Jiangcheng dares to oppose Jiang Yi now? Isn't that courting death?"

...

Their tones were filled with flattery.

They had mocked Jiang Yi earlier, and now they were all trying to win his favor.

Hua Xiaomei, however, dared not speak. She had been the most vocal in mocking Jiang Yi, and she lacked the courage to speak to him, nor did she have the face to.

"Yanran, as my best friend, if Jiang Yi causes trouble for me later, you have to help me." Hua Xiaomei was scared.

She was afraid Jiang Yi would deal with her next.

Ye Yanran remained silent.

She didn't know what to say.

"Yanran, say something!"

Hua Xiaomei grew anxious, shaking Ye Yanran's arm, and pleaded, "We've been best friends for so many years, you can't just stand by and watch me perish!"

Just as she finished speaking, a car drove towards them.

The door opened, and their counselor stepped out.

Seeing that all the classmates, except for Ye Yanran and Hua Xiaomei, were fawning over Jiang Yi, the counselor was stunned.

"What are you all doing?"

The counselor walked over. "I remember every year at gatherings, you all took pleasure in ridiculing Jiang Yi for being useless. Why are you acting like this now?"

Everyone looked embarrassed, unsure how to explain.

The counselor had treated Jiang Yi quite well back then, always having high hopes for him.

But after graduation, Jiang Yi married into the Ye family, which deeply disappointed the counselor.

The counselor felt Jiang Yi was relying on women for a living and was a spineless person, so he completely ignored Jiang Yi from then on.

When others mocked Jiang Yi, the counselor directly stated that Jiang Yi had brought it upon himself.

"Jiang Yi, I had such high hopes for you, believing you would achieve great things. I never expected you to choose to live off women."

After speaking, the counselor continued, "You'll never amount to anything in your life."

The counselor looked frustrated by his lack of progress.

"I have indeed disappointed you, Counselor," Jiang Yi said.

"Truly incorrigible!" the counselor snorted. "I heard you were kicked out of the Ye family. You won't even have the chance to live off women anymore. If you don't work hard, you'll be a waste mocked by everyone your whole life."

Jiang Yi smiled but said nothing.

Seeing Jiang Yi still smiling infuriated the counselor.

"Counselor, you've misunderstood Jiang Yi!"

Hua Xiaomei, who had been silent, suddenly spoke, saying to the counselor, "Counselor, you've misunderstood Jiang Yi. Jiang Yi is actually the most capable person among all of us."
