Chapter 523 - 524 Skull Fragments

Chapter 523: Chapter 524 Skull Fragments

As Brother Cheng shouted, those peculiar-looking folks started attacking Su Changfeng, but they weren’t very skilled fighters, just slightly better than the elderly with no combat ability.

In front of Su Changfeng, they were mere paper tigers. With every punch or kick, another person fell, completely overwhelmed by him.

Before long, except for Brother Cheng, everyone else was already lying on the ground, and the store was filled with groans of pain.

Brother Cheng was so shocked he could hardly speak, and his previous arrogance had completely vanished.

"You... who are you really?" Brother Cheng asked, looking at Su Changfeng in terror.

"Me?" Su Changfeng smiled and said, "It looks like you guys must be worshipping some kind of cult. In that case, I’m definitely a messenger sent by the heavens to teach you a lesson."

Brother Cheng was so frightened that his legs gave way, and he sat on the ground, looking as if he actually believed Su Changfeng’s words.

This left Su Changfeng speechless. What were these people actually worshipping? How could they truly believe in such ghostly tales?

Though there are many things in this world that science can’t currently explain, Su Changfeng didn’t really buy into these ghostly tales. He didn’t think there could be monsters or ghosts in this world.

Standing over Brother Cheng, Su Changfeng asked, "What are you doing standing there? Hurry up and take me to see this so-called blood sacrifice."

With a pale face, Brother Cheng nodded and said, "Okay, right this way."

Going down to a basement with Brother Chen, Su Changfeng discovered that this board game shop actually had such a place. Under the dim red light, the whole basement looked particularly eerie.

But the color of the lights was obviously intentional, so Su Changfeng thought these people were only fooling themselves.

"What’s this blood sacrifice all about?" Su Changfeng asked.

Brother Cheng led Su Changfeng to the center of the basement. On the way, Su Changfeng saw many strange lines on the floor, twisting like worms, but their meeting points were all the same.

In the center of the basement was something that looked like a crystal box, and inside was something that looked like a skull, but it was incomplete, just a broken piece of a skull.

"What is this thing?" Su Changfeng asked.

"Legend says this is a..."

Before Brother Cheng could finish his sentence, Su Changfeng kicked him and said, "Don’t bother with that nonsense about legends. Just tell me where you got this thing from."

"Picked it up," Brother Cheng said.

Su Changfeng burst into laughter, picking up such a broken thing, he managed to start a cult and even made it look somewhat legit.

"Are you doing this for money or to pick up girls?" Su Changfeng asked.

"Neither. I just want to gain more powerful strength," Brother Cheng said with a face full of devotion.

Su Changfeng kicked Brother Cheng again and said with disdain, "What kind of power can this broken thing give you? I think you’d be better off finding a gym and working out for a while; that should be more useful."

"If you don’t believe me, I can prove it," Brother Cheng said.

Seeing Brother Cheng’s sincere expression, Su Changfeng was a bit curious. What would this guy use to prove it? He said, "Hurry up, I still have an appointment."

"Do you have another task?" Brother Cheng asked cautiously.

Just now, Su Changfeng could laugh out loud, but at this point, he didn’t even want to laugh. He thought Brother Cheng was just crazy, and talking to a madman made Su Changfeng feel like he was going crazy too.

"If you don’t want another beating, stop talking nonsense," Su Changfeng said.

"Alright, alright," Brother Cheng quickly nodded, then took out a delicate dagger and cut his finger deeply.

Su Changfeng was amazed to find that when the droplets of blood fell on the floor, they rolled towards the crystal box as if the droplets themselves were moving.

However, thinking about it, Su Changfeng figured it was natural for Brother Cheng to use some tricks, and the lines on the floor were probably mechanisms he designed beforehand.

When the blood droplets reached the crystal box, the skull absorbed them, and Su Changfeng saw some faint patterns on the skull, which were very eerie.

"How did you manage that trick?" Su Changfeng asked Brother Cheng, certain it was a mechanism set up by him.

"It’s not related to me at all. It absorbs on its own," Brother Cheng said with a face full of devotion.

"Not telling the truth, are you?" Su Changfeng coldly laughed, once again pinning Brother Cheng to the ground and giving him a good beating.

Brother Cheng kept begging for mercy, but even after being beaten so miserably, he still wouldn’t admit it was a mechanism he designed.

Su Changfeng wiped the sweat off his forehead and finally stopped. He was breathing hard, yet Brother Cheng still wouldn’t admit it was his doing.

"Stubborn, aren’t you? In that case, this broken thing is mine," Su Changfeng said, picking up the crystal box.

This was mostly due to Su Changfeng’s curiosity; he wanted to figure out what was going on. Otherwise, it would become a knot in his heart.

Before leaving, Su Changfeng warned Brother Cheng’s group not to mess with Wang Ling’er. Out of fear of him, Brother Cheng had no thoughts of revenge, let alone troubling Wang Ling’er.

After Su Changfeng left, Brother Cheng also gave Peng Hao a good thrashing. If it weren’t for him, they wouldn’t have ended up like this, nor would have Su Changfeng taken the skull.

When Su Changfeng arrived at Wang Ling’er’s home, it was already 5 PM, and the female boss had closed the shop early, already busy in the kitchen.

As for Wang Ling’er, who had invited Su Changfeng for dinner, she was lounging comfortably in the living room, watching TV.

"Didn’t you say you’d cook?" Su Changfeng asked Wang Ling’er with a smile.

Wang Ling’er showed no shame and said, "If I weren’t afraid of neglecting you, I would’ve cooked already. I’m only staying here because I’m worried you’ll be bored."

Su Changfeng spread his hands helplessly and said, "What’s the big deal? I can just watch TV here, I’m fine."

"How could you? One of my friends will be here soon, and you don’t know each other. Without me, it’d be super awkward," Wang Ling’er said.

Su Changfeng knew Wang Ling’er was just making an excuse to stay out of the kitchen, and even if she did go in, it wouldn’t make much difference.

Not long after, the doorbell rang, and it seemed that Wang Ling’er’s friend had arrived.
