Chapter 1225 Seeing Off an Old Friend

Qi Yu Yuan's originally calm face showed a trace of ferocity. With a wave of his hand, archers appeared on the palace walls.

"Your Highness," Wu Hen said worriedly.

"It's nothing, break out with all your might," she said.

Wu Hen nodded.

"Fan Yan, you only need to protect yourselves. I don't need you to worry about me." she said.

Fan Yan was startled, but he nodded, as his profession was to protect the safety of Prince Nanping.

"Sister..." Qi Yu Yuan called from behind.

"Qi Yu Yuan, I'm sorry," she said, leaving those words behind.

Qi Yu Yuan's gaze turned cold, and he waved his hand.

Arrows fell like a torrential downpour, covering those people.

Qi Yu Yuan raised his head. Why would no one follow him? Uncle Lin didn't, and neither did his sister.

"Your Majesty, these people..." The guard was about to ask Qi Yu Yuan.

Qi Yu Yuan waved his hand, "Deal with them all!" Goodbye, sister!

May you be as happy and free as you wished. It's enough if you remember Qi Yu Yuan occasionally.

"Your Majesty, what is going on?" Wu Hen looked as they fell into a black hole.

Xue Xing Yue did not expect Qi Yu Yuan to help her. As he approached her, she heard his unspoken words, telling her to stand where the archers were.

At that moment, she had no other way to go and could only try. She did not expect that at the moment the arrow rain fell, they would fall.

"Where is Fan Yan?" she asked.

Wu Hen said, "When we fell, I was only thinking of protecting Your Majesty and didn't pay attention to them."

"That's good," she thought, having managed to escape them.

"Your Highness, let's go out!" Wu Hen said.

She nodded and instinctively reached for her waist. She froze.

Wu Hen sensed her distress and asked, "Your Majesty, what's wrong?"

As Xue Xing Yue moved closer, she could see the figure clearly. It was someone she was familiar with.

A tall figure cast a shadow under a tree, clad in flowing white robes, with ink-black hair cascading behind him. A gentle breeze caused it to sway.

He slowly turned around, and the face that had appeared day and night, only to eventually fade into an outline, slowly became clear.

She smiled, just as she always had, "What should I call you? Imperial Brother? Brother, or Young Master Lin?"

"You can call me whatever you like," his voice was as familiar as ever, yet the circumstances had changed.

"Then I'll still call you Young Master Lin! After all, the person from before was a good brother in my heart, loyal, righteous, and someone who treated me very well. I don't want his current image to be tainted."

He smiled as always, gentle and refined. "You may."

She took a step forward and asked, "Can you tell me what all of this is about?"

She saw him look up at her, his gaze carrying emotions she couldn't comprehend. He said faintly, "Some things are not as simple as they appear. What have you investigated, seen, heard, and understood all these years?"

"I don't want to say," he looked up towards the distance.

"What is it all for?" she demanded.

He turned back to look at her and said faintly, "In the future, such things may happen again. We don't know too much, and what can you understand with just these eyes?"

"Tell me," she stepped closer, looking at him.

"Xing Yue, the path ahead will still be one you walk alone. How you walk it, and how you go, is up to you. Hatred and pain are temporary, but some things are for a lifetime."

Saying this, he turned to leave.

"Don't go. You haven't answered my question," she chased after him, but all she caught was a wisp of the breeze.

"Your Majesty..." Wu Hen rushed over to help Xue Xing Yue, who had collapsed onto the ground.

What was all of this? Why was she becoming more confused?

Everything felt like a mountain pressing down on her, making it hard to breathe. She had a feeling that none of this was simple. So, where was the truth?

"Your Majesty," Wu Hen couldn't help but call out to the silent Xue Xing Yue.

She shook her head, "I'm fine."

"Your Majesty, where are we going?" Wu Hen asked.

She looked up. Yes! Where should she go?

Where was the place she should stay?

"Your Majesty..." Wu Hen suddenly stood in front of her.

She straightened up, seeing a troop of people approaching ahead.

"Who is it?" she asked.

"It seems to be the Regent," Wu Hen said.

She walked out from behind Wu Hen and saw the horse stop a few meters away from her. A tall figure dismounted and came before her.

A face like jade, with dark, cold eyes, a trace of complex emotion flashing through them. "You..."

"Why has the Regent come here? Have you regretted letting this consort go?" she interrupted Qi Yu Yuan.

Qi Yu Yuan was startled by her words, then said, "This king has only come to see off an old acquaintance."

Her gaze flickered, just as before. "Regent, take care!"

"You... you too, take care!" Qi Yu Yuan said.

"Thank you for the horse!" She mounted it and rode away.

Qi Yu Yuan looked into the distance. Perhaps one day, they would meet again. He looked forward to it.

"Your Majesty, what did the Regent mean?" Wu Hen asked, having followed behind.

She smiled, "He recognized me."

"Your Majesty, why does your subordinate feel that you are happy to be recognized?" Wu Hen asked, confused.

"Really?" she asked.

Wu Hen nodded, "Yes."

"Perhaps!" To have someone who could watch her from afar, watching her leave, that feeling was truly wonderful.

"Your Majesty, be careful!" At Wu Hen's cry, she turned around and saw a monster-like sandstorm rushing towards her.
