Chapter 21 The Fire Chaser Set
Nie Yan quickly put some distance between himself and the Berserker. His full set of bronze equipment gave him a significant boost to Agility, and Rogues were naturally quick on their feet to begin with. He was far faster than the Berserker.
The distance between them had already grown to five yards.
"Don't let him get away, or we won't be able to explain ourselves!" the Berserker shouted anxiously. He was too slow to catch up, and his Charge skill was still on cooldown.
"I know," the Holy Priest replied, casting another Holy Light that shaved off 16 HP from Nie Yan.
The Berserker relentlessly chased after Nie Yan.
Nie Yan had no intention of actually running away. He was just stalling for time; some of his skills were still on cooldown.
As soon as the Holy Priest finished attacking, Nie Yan started bandaging himself as he ran.
+20, +20, +20. Nie Yan's health steadily climbed, rising four times before the Holy Priest's Holy Light struck him, interrupting the bandaging.
But after bandaging, Nie Yan's health was already back to full.
Intermediate Combat Bandages were heaven-defying at their current level.
"He has a bandage skill!" the Berserker exclaimed in shock. What kind of bandage skill was that! Most of the bandage skills he'd seen before could only be used after a battle was over and only restored 5 HP per second. He'd never seen anything like Nie Yan's bandage skill, which could be used in combat and healed so much.
They had painstakingly whittled down most of Nie Yan's health, about to kill him, when the situation suddenly reversed.
All skills off cooldown! Nie Yan smirked. Now it was their turn. He turned around and pounced on the Berserker.
The Berserker's face paled when he saw Nie Yan charging at him. He hastily raised his greatsword to block.
A Nie Yan at full health could defeat Dtiancang's boss under the combined assault of all three of them. Now that Dtiancang's boss was dead, how could the two of them possibly be Nie Yan's match?
Nie Yan's dagger traced an arc in the air, abruptly changing direction. With a thud, the Berserker's greatsword struck Nie Yan. Stun! Nie Yan's dagger also struck the Berserker's forehead.
The Berserker was stunned.
Nie Yan used Assassinate, stabbing into the Berserker's chest, followed by a Vital Strike that depleted most of the Berserker's health.
Seeing that the Berserker was about to wake up, Nie Yan circled behind him and used Muffle, stunning the Berserker once more.
After completing a series of actions, Nie Yan, who had been fighting for so long, felt his stamina drop. He took a breath, and his right-hand dagger pierced into the Berserker's back.
The Berserker's health, which had been over 180, was reduced to just over sixty after a burst of attacks.
At this rate, he was sure to die!
After waking up from the stun, the Berserker was utterly demoralized and frantically tried to escape.
If the Berserker had turned around and attacked Nie Yan, he might have been able to inflict some damage. But he was too selfish, panicked when he saw that he had so little health left, afraid of dying and dropping equipment, so he ran for his life.
"Can you escape?" Nie Yan chased after the Berserker, waving his dagger and slashing at the Berserker's back again and again. -23, -21, -16.
"Damn it." The Berserker cursed. His health hit rock bottom, his vision went black, and he collapsed to the ground, dropping a piece of equipment.
"Now it's your turn." Nie Yan picked up the equipment that the Berserker had dropped and pounced on the Holy Priest. When he was fighting the Elemental Mage Dtiancang and the Berserker, the Holy Priest had been constantly dealing damage, which had hurt him quite a bit.
Seeing the Berserker fall to the ground, the Holy Priest was dumbfounded. How had he become the only one left in the blink of an eye? As a low-level priest who hadn't even learned Minor Healing, how could he possibly be Nie Yan's match!
The Holy Priest ran for his life. He had no intention of fighting Nie Yan at all. Either way, he was going to die, and his first instinct was to run.
Nie Yan chased after the Holy Priest. With his speed, how far could a magic-based class possibly run!
The dagger struck repeatedly, easily tearing open the Holy Priest's cloth armor.
-31, -32, -32. Damage numbers floated up from the Holy Priest's head one after another. The Holy Priest had only run a few steps before collapsing to the ground.
Nie Yan walked over to the Holy Priest and picked up the equipment that the Holy Priest had dropped.
The equipment dropped by the Holy Priest and Berserker weren't very good. They were two level-zero white items. The best equipment was still the equipment dropped by the Elemental Mage: a headpiece, bracers, robe, staff, leggings, and boots, six pieces in total, not one missing.
The Pyromancer's Circlet, +5 Fire Damage; the Pyromancer's Handguards, +3 Balance; the Pyromancer's Robes, +10 Fire Damage; the Pyromancer's Leggings, +2 Willpower; the Pyromancer's Boots, +2 Speed.
It was the Pyromancer set. No wonder Dtiancang's magic damage was so high. The Pyromancer set came from the level 3 dungeon Blackflame Forest. Before the level 5 dungeons came out, this set was considered the top equipment for fire mages. The drop rate for each piece was very low. You had to grind Blackflame Forest at least four or five times to collect the entire Pyromancer set.
There was also a level-zero silver staff, the Azureglow Staff, +3 Magic Power and +5 Elemental Damage.
Dtiancang was probably regretting it to the core now. Even if he killed Tang Yao and the others all the way back to level zero, it wouldn't be enough to make up for the loss of this equipment.
"Tsk, not bad, there's even a silver item." Nie Yan thought. This silver item was worth at least three silver coins if put on the market.
The bronze Pyromancer set could be used by both Elemental Mages and Arcane Mages because both Elemental Mages and Arcane Mages had fire magic. Elemental Mages controlled elemental fire, and Arcane Mages controlled arcane fire. He would give this Pyromancer set to Tang Yao. As for the silver Azureglow Staff, Tang Yao couldn't use it. He could sell it to supplement his household expenses or exchange it for one or two pieces of equipment.
"What's your current location? Tell me the coordinates."
"231.395.285. There's a cave here. I'm in the cave, and level 5 monsters are spawning inside. I'm hiding in a corner and haven't dared to come out," Tang Yao said with a bitter look on his face. Today was the most tragic day of his life.
"I killed three from Holy Light Flames, one of them was called Dtiancang or something."
"You killed Dtiancang? Are you kidding me? That guy is too damn OP. He wiped out three of our teammates all by himself. His magic damage, one Fireball could take away half our health." In Tang Yao's eyes, Nie Yan killing Dtiancang was an unbelievable feat.
"That guy's a big red name. I stripped him clean. Here's his equipment; I'll give the Pyromancer set to you."
Brother, I'm so grateful for your protection in my previous life. I owed you so much, but I didn't have time to repay you before I was reborn. I'll protect you in this life! Nie Yan thought to himself, sharing the stats of the Pyromancer set with Tang Yao.
Tang Yao's mouth was wide open as he stared at the equipment Nie Yan shared with him in disbelief.
"This isn't real, is it?" Tang Yao slapped himself to make sure he was seeing clearly. "You've decided to give me this set of equipment?"
Tang Yao naturally knew what a Pyromancer set meant in the early stages of the game. You had to go to Blackflame Forest four or five times with a team to collect a Pyromancer set, and you could easily get wiped out in the process, which showed the value of a Pyromancer set. If he wore such a set of equipment, teams would definitely fight over him when going to dungeons.
"Would I joke with you about something like that?" Nie Yan said with a laugh.
"Even if I die today, it'll be worth it. I'm eighteen years old, and I haven't done much serious work. The most rewarding thing is finding a brother like you," Tang Yao said with some emotion. He naturally knew Nie Yan's family situation. This Pyromancer set would be worth a lot if put on the trading platform. Nie Yan was actually going to give it to him, which proved that Nie Yan really treated him as a brother.
Nie Yan thought of his previous life. The thing he wanted to say to Tang Yao the most was also this sentence.
"We're brothers, so there's no need to be so polite. I'm going to kill a few more of them!" Nie Yan said. He still had twenty-five or six minutes of self-defense time.
"I didn't expect you to really have a talent for gaming. After listening to your words during the day, I suddenly understood a lot, and my skills have improved a lot. Otherwise, there's no way I could have lasted until now," Tang Yao said. He admired Nie Yan from the bottom of his heart. Nie Yan's performance today had really made him look at him with new eyes.
With the Pyromancer set, he would also be able to trade his spear for a cannon and enter the ranks of the experts.
In the past, Tang Yao treated Nie Yan as a poor brother and always protected him in everything, but now, Nie Yan's actions made him look up to him. For the first time, he felt that Nie Yan was a very capable person.
