Chapter 564 - 564 564 Exorcism

Chapter 564: Chapter 564 Exorcism Chapter 564: Chapter 564 Exorcism The house of Madam Xie in Mo Family Village was considered quite good; it couldn’t match the grandeur of Old Money Mo’s mansion in both size and height but its materials and design were top-notch. Most villagers lived in adobe houses, making hers seem like a mansion by comparison; it was a dream out of reach for the impoverished villagers, which of course made it enviable.

Old Lady Mo was very jealous. Madam Xie’s house was many times better than the Mo family compound.

“Good, so good.”

Old Lady Mo glanced left and right, her eyes filled with envy. Turning her head, she spoke to Old Master Mo, “No wonder you, an old dead man, are unwilling to come home. You’re enjoying life here, leaving me alone to live in that dilapidated house and eat wild vegetables while you feast on meat and fish here. You truly are a heartless old man.”

Old Master Mo also felt aggrieved, “I had no choice; if it weren’t for my fear of you hitting me, I wouldn’t stay here either.”

“Enough with your excuses, you are just finding reasons to stubbornly stay put.”

When Old Lady Mo saw such a fine house, she thought spitefully that such a good house should not be for these lowly ones. It would be more fitting for her grandson Mo Hengjian to live in.

Madam Xie stood by, listening to their conversation.

Old Lady Mo turned her head and saw Madam Xie standing there motionless like a block of wood, which instantly infuriated her. She cursed loudly, “You stinking woman, why just stand there bothering us? The Mage is waiting for us! Why haven’t you hurried to clean up the room yet?”

“Eh! Right away!”

Scolded by Old Lady Mo, Madam Xie immediately sprang into action and began to tidy up the room.

Old Lady Mo supervised from the side, instructing, “The Mage said the bedding in the room must be well arranged.”

As she cleaned, Madam Xie asked curiously, “Isn’t the Mage here only for exorcism and to check feng shui? Why does he also need the bed made? Could it be he plans to spend the night here?”

Old Lady Mo harshly said, “Why do you care so much? Just do your job.”

Accustomed to Old Lady Mo’s oppression, Madam Xie dared not speak out and silently followed Old Lady Mo’s orders to tidy up the room.

Skilled in housework, Madam Xie was quick and efficient. Before long, she had arranged the room spotlessly.

Old Lady Mo immediately scampered off to inform the Mage that everything was ready.

Upon hearing this, the Mage was overjoyed and quickly set up an altar in the room. In moments, the room was swirling with smoke – filled with the scent of joss papers and incense candles.

The Mage also instructed Madam Xie to prepare hot water, stating the need for bathing and changing clothes before he could perform the exorcism for Xuexue.

Madam Xie quickly heated the water.

After freshening up, the Mage was highly exhilarated yet maintained an appearance of nonchalance, his face inscrutable.

All was ready.

The Mage called Xuexue into the room alone, claiming he would perform the exorcism. Madam Xie, fearing Xuexue would be frightened alone, wanted to accompany her but was shooed away by the Mage.

“Mage, Xuexue, being a young girl, could be frightened by those filthy things. Let me stay with her.”

“No need, with me here, no demons and ghosts will dare come close,” the Mage said with an imposing look, blocking the door to prevent Madam Xie from entering.

Old Lady Mo and Madam Ruan flanked Madam Xie on either side and forcefully dragged her out of the courtyard, waiting there for the Mage to come out.

Madam Ruan and Old Lady Mo constantly exchanged glances, sporting smug smiles on their faces; success or failure all depended on the Mage now.

Inside the room
Xuexue covertly observed the Mage. She saw his face flush, his eyes gleaming with a wolfish glow as he stared at her, his breathing even quickened.
