Chapter 196: Interesting man
The next seconds though, a carriage shot out from it and a mutilated body fell down.
Vacuse, who was standing atop the carriage, quickly shouted, "Everyone out of here!"
Without slowing down at all, his carriage shot forward with blinding speed, leaving behind a shockwave that shoved many Soulbearers away.
They looked at the retreating carriage with confusion and shock, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Only one person took the advice seriously and began to run.
It was Harkon Vorrakyn.
Immediately when Vacuse had shouted for everyone to run, he had already started running. And that was because he knew that anything that could make Vacuse run was something he did not want to meet.
And he was right.
The next moment, a dominating aura suddenly spread like the wings of some monstrosity. The area around two meters suddenly gained weight as if something invisible and incredibly heavy was pressing down on everything.
The Void energy that was still obscuring the portal broke down and disappeared, revealing the portal that tore open like a tear in a giant curtain.
Unlike the rift that Iron Knight created, this one was gigantic, and the aura that spread from it caused the nearby Soulbearers to tremble and fall unconscious as blood spilled from their noses.
Buildings shattered and the ground shook, cracks running through it.
Some Soulbearers, four of them in the third stage, who were directly under the portal, stiffened and fell to their knees. Although their bodies might be strong and withstand the pressure for a while, the same could not be said of their internal organs.
All four that took the full brunt of the pressure died instantly.
The reason for all this was, of course, the blurry box that broke. Since the box created a pocket space completely cut off from the outside, the person creating the portal, someone obviously much stronger, was forced to use more power than normal to open it.
That was why it took time.
And that was why, when the blurry box broke, the power behind the portal, that large amount of power, instantly tore open a large portal and spilled the massive energy over.
And it was spreading.
Buildings were shattering, and countless normal humans were already dead.
Iron Knight was there, hovering clumsily above as the pressure was also forcing him down. He grimaced. "How did something like this happen?"
The person behind the portal was obviously much stronger, but he was still Iron Knight, a Commander in the Gold Accord. So he raised his hand and pointed.
The golden ship that was so far away and had not moved since it was set in place suddenly turned and poured into a beam of light that hovered above the portal.
"Do you dare to fight the Emperor?"
With the ship now above the portal, the pressure decreased a little. A beam of golden light flashed down from the ship, so bright and intense that it turned the surroundings to day.
A painful scream echoed from behind the portal and in the next instant, the portal disappeared.
And everything returned to silence.
Iron Knight hovered there for a moment, his ship still spinning where it was. He looked at the destruction around him and then his attention turned towards Vacuse’s castle.
For a moment, his gloomy expression was replaced by a flash of anger.

Much later, past midnight, Vacuse was wondering, thinking that it was really weird that Iron Knight was in his hall.
And he did not look happy. Granted, Vacuse had never seen the man happy before. He was not even sure if he was capable of such things. But he did not usually look this gloomy either.
Even the light in the hall had dimmed since the man appeared and started glaring at Vacuse as he explained things.
He was there together with his attendants. They all sat at a long table and on it were two Artifacts. One was a bell attached to a key and the other, a sword with many screaming faces.
After a long silence in which Vacuse had explained things, Iron Knight finally moved. "So, this was all caused by someone called Whispered Blade, who said he is from the Eastern Region, to get the Morrowling. They caused destruction in a town that was under the protection of His Imperial Majesty."
"Yes."
Another short silence.
"Very well."
Iron Knight stood up as if he had heard everything there was to hear. He turned to go, but Vacuse was not done with him. "Eh... Iron Knight. Before you go, there is something we need to talk about."
Iron Knight froze and then he slowly turned. "What?"
Vacuse shrugged. "Since this town is under Imperial authority for now and the Morrowling is the cause of trouble two times already, who knows the type of trouble he would cause in the near future? Would it not be better to hold him in your sight until you are ready to leave?"
The room was already tense, but now it was almost hard to breathe. And, did the room just get darker?
Vacuse stiffened as Iron Knight stared at him, his eyes felt like molten blades against his flesh.
"I do not like your stupid manipulative schemes. All of you Lords are the same. Snakes and serpents, all of you, always biting and splitting."
Vacuse remained silent but he raised his brows.
Iron Knight shrugged. "But I will take the Morrowling until after you are back. I will hold the troublesome thing until then."
Vacuse smiled, he stood and bowed. "Thank you, Iron Knight."
The man grunted and turned to leave but Vacuse was not done. With a grimace he shouted, "Wait!"
Iron Knight did not say anything this time as he turned, and yet everyone flinched.
Vacuse took a deep breath. "The person behind the portal. How strong are they?"
Iron Knight paused, then he shrugged. "The stage above mine."
This time he turned around, his steps deliberately slowed as if daring Vacuse to call him back.
Vacuse thought of playing a little joke but thought better of it when he saw the killing intent coming from the man.
He watched him leave instead and the room got noticeably brighter. "What an interesting man."
