Chapter 363: Chapter 313: Rising Phase: 149
Zhou Yun hung up the phone, somewhat bored, and sprawled out her limbs.
Unexpectedly, Song Chi had to work through the night today, which was really inconvenient.
With nothing else to do, she could only continue reading the novel.
"I’ve Been to Earth" was quite spine-chilling. The husband, whom she thought she had loved for a long time, turned out to be a serial killer, and not only that, he had once attempted to kill her own self.
Zhou Yun felt a little hairy inside, but she couldn’t stop reading.
These kinds of novels with a hint of suspense always managed to captivate her.
Just as she reached a heart-wrenching part, her cell phone suddenly rang.
Zhou Yun was so startled that she bounced, and the book fell from her hands.
It was a call from Song Chi.
Song Chi was calling.
"Are you done?" Zhou Yun was overjoyed.
Maybe it was psychological, or maybe not, but at this moment, she particularly wanted Song Chi by her side.
"Hello?" Zhou Yun answered the call, "Are you done filming?"
"Not yet, but there’s still some time before the next scene starts rolling. I was worried you’d be waiting too late, so I called you first," said Song Chi, "What are you doing?"
"Reading a novel. I got such a fright when the phone started ringing," Zhou Yun didn’t even realize that her tone carried a hint of coquetry.
Song Chi chuckled and asked, "What’s up? Are you reading a horror novel?"
"It’s not a horror novel; it’s a suspense novel, but it’s also a bit scary," Zhou Yun remarked, "It’s about a woman who accidentally discovers one day that the man beside her pillow is actually a serial killer. Ah, you men can really disguise yourselves too well."
"Don’t generalize, there have been quite a few female serial killers in history too," Song Chi said.
Zhou Yun: "Oh, why so sensitive? I wasn’t talking about you anyway."
Song Chi laughed.
"Whether you’re talking about me or not, I need to put a stop to this topic."
See, this is where Song Chi is clever.
Zhou Yun turned over in bed and said, "Ah well, let’s not talk anymore, go film. I’m going to sleep."
"Going to sleep? Didn’t you just say you wanted to talk to me on the phone? Is that all you have to say?" Song Chi asked.
Zhou Yun thought to herself that she didn’t actually have anything to talk to him about.
She just wanted to surprise him when she knew he was back at the hotel.
"There wasn’t really anything substantial to talk about anyway."
Just then, there came a sudden knock on the door.
A strange city, a strange hotel, a knock on the door?
Zhou Yun was startled and said, "Hold on, someone is knocking on the door."
"Ah? A knock on the door? Who’s looking for you?" Song Chi asked.
Zhou Yun, looking puzzled, answered, "I don’t know."
"Could it be a ghost?" Song Chi asked jokingly with a laugh.
Zhou Yun rolled her eyes and said, "Go away, go away!"
She got out of bed, put on her slippers, and walked towards the door.
First, she made sure the safety lock was engaged before peeking through the peephole.
Yet, outside the peephole, there was no one, just the empty corridor.
A cold sweat broke out on Zhou Yun’s back instantly.
Her voice trembled as she said, "Song Chi, I just looked through the peephole, and there was no one outside."
"Really? Take a look again," Song Chi said.
Zhou Yun cautiously brought her eye close to the peephole again, and this time, she saw a face full of smiles.
Song Chi stood inside the view of the peephole, his smile beaming and bright as he held up his phone.
Then he made a "ghost is coming" face.
"Ah—" Zhou Yun screamed in disbelief and joy.
She undid the safety lock, opened the door, stared with wide eyes in surprise, and threw herself onto Song Chi’s body, asking, "How did you know I was here?!"
Song Chi, holding Zhou Yun’s waist, moved into the room and closed the door behind him.
"You brazenly walked around the streets, and got secretly photographed without even realizing?" Song Chi said, "You’ve been recognized coming in and out of the hotel!"
Zhou Yun suddenly realized.
"I didn’t know! I thought I was well-disguised!" Zhou Yun excitedly looked up and then, remembering something, asked, "But how did you know which room I was in? It can’t be that the hotel sold me out? This hotel doesn’t pay much attention to protecting the privacy of its guests, does it?"
Song Chi looked down at Zhou Yun. The two were especially close at this moment, and Song Chi’s lips were almost touching Zhou Yun’s.
"Stop blaming the hotel, they didn’t sell your information to me."
"Then who was it? Ah—" Zhou Yun immediately caught on, "Was it Sister Lan?!"
Song Chi laughed in a muffled voice, "Don’t say I told you."
