Anubis worked with remarkable efficiency within the Spring Field Flower Orphanage.
The golden body and divine soul of the Four-Faced Buddha were all chopped up and turned into fertilizer to nourish the Chaos Azure Lotus.
As for the chosen one’s body that the Four-Faced Buddha had possessed, it was devoured as a small snack.
The division of spoils had become a routine: the Chaos Azure Lotus absorbed the divine soul and blood, Ji Mo got the flesh, and Anubis gnawed on the bones and scraps, content.
After this period of nourishment, the shriveled lotus seed had regained its vitality, and it was likely to sprout again before long.
However, Anubis was also puzzled. The Chaos Azure Lotus was a sacred flower; would irrigating it with fresh blood cause mutations?
What if, in the end, it grew into a World-Ending Demonic Lotus?
But that wasn't its concern. Ji Mo should be back soon, and it needed to hurry up and prepare the dog meat pot.
The Three-Headed Hellhound was hung upside down beneath the Acacia Tree, trembling.
It had personally witnessed the tragic fate of the Four-Faced Buddha and did not wish to die so ignominiously.
“Brother Anubis, we are both dogs, born of the same root. Why must you be so cruel to each other?”
Seeing Anubis approaching with a large boning knife, the Three-Headed Hellhound felt a chill run through its body. It quickly tried to curry favor and beg for mercy.
Because its master was Hades, the King of the Underworld, the Three-Headed Hellhound had often lorded its status over weaker deities. Anubis was one of its victims, often bullied and extorted for benefits.
“Brother? Hmph, I wouldn’t dare. I recall you used to call me a stinky jackal. Stop pretending to be sentimental with me. I actually prefer your old unruly self.”
Anubis stood on its hind legs, straightening its back, and laughed heartily.
Thirty years east, thirty years west; do not bully a dog when it is young.
Now, it, Anubis, had risen.
“Soul and blood, for the Chaos Azure Lotus; dog meat, for the master; bones, for myself.”
Anubis muttered, then its gaze fell upon the space between the Three-Headed Hellhound’s hind legs, its eyes glowing green. “My dear, heh heh, that’s mine too.”
What?
Upon hearing these words, the Three-Headed Hellhound’s mind went blank.
Immediately after, it barked in terror.
Eating its meat, drinking its blood, and gnawing on its bones was one thing, but now it was eyeing its prized possession? Did it have any humanity left?
Damn it, this bastard looked like a wolf with a human body, so it wasn't really human after all.
The Three-Headed Hellhound wilted and quickly begged for mercy, admitting it had wronged Anubis in the past. It was willing to apologize, atone, and offer substantial compensation, accepting any conditions.
“Your dog life is non-negotiable, but I am magnanimous. I can let you keep your roots.”
Anubis brandished the boning knife, making gestures towards the Three-Headed Hellhound’s groin, a sweet smile on its face.
This nearly scared the Three-Headed Hellhound into urinating on the spot. Keep its roots? Who knew what unspeakable things it wanted to do with its treasure.
The thought sent shivers down its spine; the more it thought, the more terrifying it became.
The Three-Headed Hellhound struggled frantically, intending to use a secret technique to self-destruct. It absolutely refused to be castrated and become a laughingstock.
Suddenly, it quieted down, a look of wild joy appearing on its face.
This was because someone had secretly transmitted a message, telling it not to panic and to try to gather information about Anubis’s master.
The Three-Headed Hellhound felt as if it had been given a shot of confidence. Its fear vanished, knowing that its master, Hades, had arrived. It would be the one to have the last laugh.
It felt a pang of regret, thinking it had acted too timidly, which Hades must have noticed. Now, it needed to make amends and redeem itself.
“Anubis, you are truly audacious. As the saying goes, one must consider the owner before beating the dog. My master, Lord Hades, is the most valiant, strong, imposing, and world-conquering supreme god. Are you not afraid he will settle accounts later and take your dog life?”
The Three-Headed Hellhound cleared its throat and shamelessly began to flatter Hades.
It was fortunate that this fellow had recently been influenced by profound Chinese culture and learned many new phrases, becoming adept at flattery.
Anubis sneered, “Hades is nothing. In front of my master, he’s just a… My master, Ji Mo, is a true man as his name suggests, capable of urinating eight feet against the wind. With one six-pack abs displaying his might, his mighty body trembles slightly, and the four seas are pacified. Who among the gods can compete? They are all just little brothers!”
One had to admit that this skinny dog had some talent. After spending so much time with Ji Mo, it could even compose poetry.
The Three-Headed Hellhound was dumbfounded. How did this guy suddenly have knowledge? It couldn’t say anything at all.
It sneered, “Ji Mo? Never heard of such a person. Just an unknown nobody, bragging nonsense.”
Anubis was unfazed and retorted with a laugh, “It’s normal not to have heard of him. After all, all the gods who encountered my master were eliminated. Like the Phoenix, the God of Death, and you, the great sucker, all met their ends most unpeacefully.”
“The Phoenix and the God of Death were also killed by you?”
The Three-Headed Hellhound’s expression changed drastically, and it questioned, “Have you not considered the consequences of slaughtering gods like this?”
Anubis looked calm and said haughtily, “Perhaps you should first open your dog eyes wide and see where this is.”
The Three-Headed Hellhound looked up at the seven large characters, “Spring Field Flower Orphanage,” in confusion, not understanding why Anubis was being so arrogant.
Suddenly, its eyes stung, its vision blurred. The seven characters radiated a seductive glow, scarlet as blood, and transformed into seven other characters.
Slaughterhouse for Suckers!
The Three-Headed Hellhound gasped, its scalp tingling. Who in the world had such courage to slaughter gods as mere suckers?
Hades, who was secretly peeking from outside, was furious upon witnessing this scene.
Too arrogant! What was this Ji Mo? How dare he speak so disrespectfully of the gods.
Hades’s rage surged, his underworld flames burning, his divine flames soaring. His temper flared instantly.
Sensing Hades’s terrifying aura, Anubis shivered violently.
The Three-Headed Hellhound fanned the flames, “Lord Hades, these ignorant insects are too rampant. Deal with this Anubis first, then find that Ji Mo to settle the score.”
Anubis was somewhat panicked. Although its strength had surged during this period, it was still no match for a supreme god like Hades. Moreover, Hades was inherently brutal, and it was possible its dog life would end tonight.
“Master, someone wants to kill your skinny dog. Hurry back.”
Anubis decisively called for help, without any hesitation.
Hades, radiating killing intent, stared fixedly at Anubis. “Anubis, you are dead. Even the King of Heaven himself cannot save you, I say…”
However, before he could finish, he let out a piercing scream.
He felt a heavy blow to the back of his head, saw stars, and almost fainted on the spot.
“Huh, your head is quite hard.”
Ji Mo was slightly surprised that he hadn’t managed to knock Hades out. He raised his palm again.
