Chapter 1268 Eric Was Kidnapped

Eric tilted his head up, his innocent yet serious expression unwavering as he said, "I saw. Precisely because my sister has some difficulty moving, I must personally attend to her. Do you know what this is called in Country M? It's called being a gentleman!"

Sister Liu couldn't help but chuckle. She was indeed a little worried about Zhang Wan'er's situation, as the latter's identity was not ordinary.

The Zhang and Yang families were considered prominent households in the capital. If anything were to happen to their precious daughter, Alice, who had lost her chief designer status and lacked royal protection, she might not be able to bear the responsibility.

Zhang Wan'er had explicitly stated earlier that excessive care would only make her more self-conscious and uncomfortable. Naturally, she couldn't act without considering her feelings.

While it was inconvenient for her to investigate Zhang Wan'er's situation, Eric could. He was just a child, and it was perfectly normal for him to be with Zhang Wan'er out of curiosity. No normal adult would bicker with a child.

With this thought, Sister Liu narrowed her eyes and said, "Alright, alright, gentlemanly demeanor! You and I going back and forth like this, it's truly like a theatrical performance! It's quite good to have someone as humorous as you by Miss Zhang's side to cheer her up!

Fine then, I trust that as a gentleman, you will take good care of Ms. Zhang! If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Don't push yourself too hard, you wouldn't want Miss Zhang's condition to worsen, would you?"

Eric straightened up proudly, saluted Sister Liu with a solemn expression, and repeatedly assured her, "Mission guaranteed, please rest assured, Ms. Liu. I will not disappoint you!"

"Alright, alright, hurry up and go. Miss Zhang has been gone for quite some time now, I wonder how she's doing," Sister Liu said, then affectionately patted Eric's shoulder before getting up to attend to her own tasks.

Eric stared at Sister Liu's retreating back for a few seconds before leaving the living room.

Meanwhile, Zhang Wan'er, pushing her wheelchair, struggled her way to the parking lot. Upon seeing Alice's car, she took out the tools she had prepared earlier, then, with great effort, moved her frail body and lay down on the ground to begin her work.

After about ten minutes of work, she finally managed to install the device into Alice's car. Just as she was preparing to retreat, she suddenly felt a burning gaze upon her.

Zhang Wan'er assumed Alice had returned early and her plan had been discovered. Cold sweat instantly broke out on her back. She subtly turned her head in the direction of the gaze. When her eyes met a small figure, the heavy weight on her chest instantly felt relieved.

"What are you doing here?" Eric walked up to Zhang Wan'er. He was now twelve years old and had lived in the slums for over a decade, witnessing all sorts of things. Although he didn't know what Zhang Wan'er was doing, he was certain she wasn't a good person.

Facing Eric's questioning, Zhang Wan'er pursed her pale lips, quickly regained her composure, and said with a kind smile, "Hello, little one. Who are you? I was just helping to fix this car."

Eric, with his sturdy build, stuck his head forward and glanced behind Zhang Wan'er. He then shook his head and said, "I'm Eric, my sister's younger brother. I've never heard my sister mention that this car was broken! Are you mistaken? And I clearly saw you installing something else on the car just now. What exactly are you trying to do?"

This was infuriating. How could this mere child be so troublesome? Why did all her plans fail, and why were there always unexpected situations? Did fate not want her to win?

Thinking this was a possibility, Zhang Wan'er clenched her fists unwillingly, a surge of resentment erupting within her.

Sensing imminent danger, Eric couldn't help but step back a few paces, instinctively wanting to escape this dangerous place.

Zhang Wan'er felt Eric's intention. She took a deep breath calmly and said without a hint of emotion, "It's normal that you don't know the car is broken. Your sister even got injured because of this car and was hospitalized. I am your sister's good friend, and Sister Liu can vouch for me!"

Hearing that his sister was injured, a nerve in Eric's mind snapped. He was just a child and couldn't think of many things. Moreover, Sister Liu had indeed told him that this woman was his sister's friend, and friends shouldn't do anything harmful, right?

With this thought, he let down his guard and approached Zhang Wan'er, tugging at her hand and pleading with tearful eyes, "My sister is injured! Is it serious? Where is she now? I want to see my sister, can you take me with you?"

"Of course, your sister is in the hospital. Once I finish fixing this car, I'll take you to see her! I can't say if your sister's injuries are serious or not; she always told me to keep it from you." Zhang Wan'er exploited the deep bond between Alice and Eric, knowing exactly what words would make Eric anxious and willing to leave with her.

"If she's hiding it from me, it means my sister's injuries are quite serious! Sister, when will you finish fixing the car and take me to see my sister?" Eric tightly grasped Zhang Wan'er's sleeve, his eyes filled with tears and worry.

Zhang Wan'er feigned hesitation for a few minutes before saying, "Since you're so eager to go, I'll put aside what I'm doing and take you to see your sister!"

Upon hearing that Zhang Wan'er was willing to take him to see his sister, Eric, without a second thought, trotted along behind her wheelchair and came outside.

Zhang Wan'er glanced around, confirming no one was paying attention to her odd behavior. She then took out her phone and coldly said to the person on the other end, "Come pick me up."

Receiving the call, Li Zhemeng quickly drove the car to Zhang Wan'er's location. When he saw a strange boy appear before him, he couldn't help but be taken aback.

"This child..."

Zhang Wan'er pushed her wheelchair behind Eric and then, without him realizing, forcefully pushed him to the ground. Eric's head hit the ground, his vision blurring. Unaware of the truth, he fainted.

Zhang Wan'er's expression remained unchanged as she said, "This has nothing to do with you. Hurry up and get this little bastard into the car. We need to leave this place quickly before anyone notices!"

After speaking, she struggled onto the car herself. Li Zhemeng glanced around, not understanding the meaning behind Zhang Wan'er's actions, but this was not the time to dwell on it. He grabbed Eric by the collar, stuffed him into the back seat, then got into the driver's seat and drove away.
