Chapter 127 Moral Decay

"Town Chief Qin, is it necessary for them to be so relentless in pursuing me?" Chen Feng exclaimed with a touch of dizziness.

"Why wouldn't it be necessary? They know your character; you can't tolerate even a speck of dust in your eye. The wicked deeds they've committed could land them in prison for many years. To eliminate any future trouble, they must deal with you. Furthermore, those two individuals have an unusual relationship. If you made Director Wu uncomfortable, Director Sun certainly wouldn't let you have an easy time. So, the second wave of retaliation is already on its way," Qin Yan explained with a serious expression.

Just as Chen Feng was about to respond, Cheng Lu rushed into the office.

"Chen Feng, it's good you're here. There's a matter of some significance that concerns you."

"Me?"

"Yes, it concerns you. You're the Deputy Town Chief in charge of education in Mingshan Town. Several provincial special-grade teachers are currently there, demanding to be transferred to Jiangcheng City. Mingshan Town's education sector is already struggling. If all these provincial special-grade teachers leave, Mingshan's education will be truly ruined. Director Wu just returned, but as soon as the special-grade teachers arrived, he found an excuse to leave." Cheng Lu explained with a serious look.

Qin Yan and Chen Feng immediately understood what was happening; this was the second wave of retaliation they had just discussed.

"I'll go take a look," Chen Feng said with a frown.

Mingshan Town already had a shortage of special-grade teachers. If they all left at once, the town's education sector would be in an even more precarious situation! Director Wu, for his selfish revenge, deliberately orchestrated this situation with the special-grade teachers. He truly had no conscience!

"Several provincial special-grade teachers are quite arrogant. I'm worried you might not be able to handle them. Perhaps it would be better if Town Chief Qin personally intervened," Cheng Lu suggested softly.

"They're just a few provincial special-grade teachers; it's not necessary for Town Chief Qin to step in personally." With that, Chen Feng went directly to Director Wu's office.

As expected, several arrogant provincial special-grade teachers were inside, making a ruckus.

"Gentlemen, please calm down. You can tell me if you have any issues. Director Wu is occupied and won't be back anytime soon," Chen Feng stated calmly.

"We are provincial special-grade teachers. Can you make decisions for us?" the provincial special-grade teachers questioned dismissively.

"I am the Deputy Town Chief in charge of education in Mingshan Town. Even if you are national special-grade teachers, I can still manage matters concerning you. Please, state your demands." Chen Feng wasn't feeling particularly bothered. If these teachers had appeared pathetic, he might have felt troubled, wondering why Director Wu was targeting teachers again. But these provincial special-grade teachers before him weren't pathetic; they were arrogant and condescending. Dealing with such people required no hesitation; whatever method was ruthless, he would use it.

"Our demands are very simple. The education in Mingshan Town is abysmal. We are provincial special-grade teachers, and continuing to stay here is a waste of talent. We strongly demand to be transferred to Jiangcheng City," the provincial special-grade teachers declared loudly.

"You can transfer! You are human beings and have the right to freedom," Chen Feng replied with a calm expression.

"Deputy Town Chief Chen, since you say so, please sign the transfer orders quickly." The provincial special-grade teachers were overjoyed, having expected a long argument before Chen Feng would agree. They hadn't anticipated that Chen Feng would immediately state they had the right to freedom.

"I will not sign." Chen Feng replied coldly.

"What? Not sign? Deputy Town Chief Chen, are you playing with us? You just said people have the right to freedom, and now you're refusing. What kind of operation is this?" the provincial special-grade teachers questioned, utterly bewildered.

"It's very simple. You have the freedom to choose to leave, and I have the freedom to refuse your departure," Chen Feng stated plainly.

"On what grounds?" the provincial special-grade teachers retorted fiercely.

"On the grounds that you signed a ten-year education contract with Mingshan Town's Education Bureau. The contract was just renewed less than a year ago, and you want to leave now? This is not in accordance with the contract. According to regulations, I am refusing to sign, which is reasonable and lawful."

"However, Jiangcheng has already agreed to our transfer. Your refusal is useless. Jiangcheng will personally come to Mingshan Town to retrieve us. Why make things difficult for yourself?" the special-grade teachers threatened Chen Feng.

"Even if someone from Jiangcheng comes, it will be useless. I will still refuse. A contract is a contract; we must act according to the contract," Chen Feng replied coldly.

"Deputy Town Chief Chen, we haven't offended you, have we? Why are you opposing us?"

"I apologize, but for teachers like you who have lost their moral compass, I have no interest in opposing you. I am simply acting according to the contract." Chen Feng continued coldly.

"Fine, you're tough. We'll go find Director Wu. He's the director of the Mingshan Town Education Bureau. If he agrees, we don't need your approval." The provincial special-grade teachers declared defiantly.

"Theoretically, that's how it works. However, there's a prerequisite: if I, the Deputy Town Chief in charge of education, don't get involved in this matter, Director Wu can unilaterally sign to let you go. Now that I am involved, you won't be able to transfer anywhere for the next ten years." Chen Feng stated calmly.

"In that case, we won't transfer, will that do?" The provincial special-grade teachers' tone softened. They were at a loss for what to do with this obstinate young man. Damn it, their plan had misfired. According to Director Wu's plan, they just needed to find this young deputy town chief and cause a scene, and the young deputy town chief would obediently sign and let them go. Who knew he would be such a stubborn mule, adamantly refusing to sign.

"Since you're not transferring, you'll go teach at Dahe Township Junior High School." Chen Feng continued to speak with a composed demeanor.

"Deputy Town Chief Chen, what do you mean? We are provincial special-grade teachers. You're asking us to teach in a township. Isn't this an insult to talent?" the provincial special-grade teachers questioned fiercely.

"You are not talented, so there's no question of wasting talent."

"We are legitimate provincial special-grade teachers. How are we not talented?" the provincial special-grade teachers retorted, unconvinced.

"Your moral character is corrupt, and your minds are solely focused on making more money. No matter how much knowledge you possess, you cannot be considered talented," Chen Feng explained calmly.

"Deputy Town Chief Chen, you should think carefully. If you transfer us to teach in the township, who will fill our positions?" the provincial special-grade teachers threatened.

"You don't need to worry about that. After you leave, Mingshan Town will hire provincial special-grade teachers from across the country with high salaries to fill your positions."

"High salaries? Why don't you give the high salaries directly to us and hire new people? Isn't that redundant?" the provincial special-grade teachers questioned, utterly perplexed.

"It's not redundant at all. I can give you high salaries, but you can't force me to give you high salaries. It's that simple. Alright, enough with the nonsense. Report to Dahe Township Junior High School immediately. If you don't report within three days, you'll bear the consequences."

"Hmph, are you trying to scare us? We simply won't report to Dahe Township. What can you do to us?" the provincial special-grade teachers challenged Chen Feng.

"Didn't I say it? You'll bear the consequences. If you want to know what the consequences are, then don't go. It's that simple." Chen Feng deliberately used a cold, provocative tone. These provincial special-grade teachers were entirely different from the substitute teachers before. Naturally, there was no need to be polite to them!
