Chapter 39 Setting Rules for Newcomers

"What are you staring at? Beat this impudent fellow to death!"

After a moment of stunned silence, the cell boss finally reacted and roared.

Hearing their leader's bellow, everyone immediately snapped out of it.

Without a word, they charged at Chen Feng with roars.

Chen Feng was not worried at all. His traditional martial arts skills were decent, and as long as his opponents were unarmed, he was confident in a bare-handed fight. Kuaishuge.

As expected, in a series of fluid counter-attacks, everyone was beaten to the ground.

Chen Feng did not lay a hand on one of the middle-aged, scholarly roommates.

This was because while everyone else was roaring and trying to kill him, this middle-aged man had not made a killing blow, merely joining in the roar a few times.

"Do we still need to establish rules?"

Chen Feng's gaze was chilling as he stared at the cell boss.

"No need for rules. You are the biggest rule in this cell now. Whatever you say goes."

The cell boss replied, trembling all over.

"Your spot, I'll sleep in. Ah Bao's spot, this elder brother will sleep in. Any problem?"

Chen Feng said calmly.

"No problem at all."

The cell boss immediately vacated his bunk.

"Elder brother, come sleep over here."

Chen Feng said kindly.

The middle-aged man did not move, standing frozen in place with a look of caution and fear.

Chen Feng knew that the middle-aged man was so afraid because he had likely been bullied by these roommates for too long.

His bruised and swollen face was evidence enough.

"It's okay, with me here, they won't bully you anymore."

Chen Feng directly pulled the middle-aged man onto the bunk.

"Kid, you've caused big trouble."

The middle-aged man replied fearfully.

"Caused big trouble? What do you mean?"

Chen Feng asked, puzzled.

"Ah Bao is just one of the enforcers. There's also Ah Hu, who went to bring someone in for interrogation and will be back soon."

"So that's how it is. But don't worry. Whether it's Ah Bao or Ah Hu, if they help the wicked, I'll take them down."

Chen Feng said calmly.

"Kid, you're still too young. You might be able to beat Ah Bao, but not necessarily Ah Hu. Ah Hu fights in underground boxing matches and has several lives on his hands. The cell boss submitting to you now is just a temporary measure, not genuine submission. Hurry up and apologize to them before Ah Hu gets back."

The middle-aged man advised Chen Feng.

"It can't be that exaggerated, can it?"

Chen Feng replied with a faint smile.

The middle-aged man was about to persuade Chen Feng further when the cell door opened.

The middle-aged man glanced inside and his body jolted as if electrocuted. In less than a second, he sprang off Ah Bao's bunk.

"Boss, what's going on?"

Ah Hu looked bewildered at the scene before him.

"What else is going on? We've got a troublemaker."

Upon Ah Hu's return, the cell boss's courage instantly returned.

"Interesting."

Ah Hu sneered and walked straight up to Chen Feng.

"Did you do this?"

Ah Hu stared intently at Chen Feng.

"Yes."

Chen Feng admitted frankly.

"Kid, given your fighting skills, I'll give you a chance. Crawl between my legs, and I'll pretend nothing happened."

Ah Hu's eyes were filled with killing intent as he continued to stare at Chen Feng.

"Sorry, I'm not a dog."

"How interesting. Facing imminent death, and you're still so defiant."

Ah Hu rubbed his hands together, eager for a fight.

Seeing that Ah Hu was about to explode into violence, the middle-aged man hurried over to persuade Chen Feng.

"Kid, just forget it. Ah Hu is a ruthless guy. Offending him will bring you no good. A true man knows when to yield and when to stand firm. Just crawl between Ah Hu's legs; no one will laugh at you here."

"Brother, thank you for the warning. However, I've never been a dog, I won't be a dog, and I don't want to be a dog."

Chen Feng replied calmly.

"Sigh, why are you so stubborn?"

The middle-aged man shook his head helplessly and retreated to the side.

Ah Hu was a killer, so it was safer to stay away.

Seeing Chen Feng's calm expression, Ah Hu was instantly enraged.

Without a word, his fists, as hard as steel from underground boxing, came flying.

Chen Feng dodged them lightly, not panicked at all.

Bang, he dodged one.

Bang, he dodged two.

Bang, he dodged three.

...

Ah Hu's powerful punches missed repeatedly, hitting the wall instead and emitting muffled thuds.

The wall instantly showed several cracks.

It had to be said, Ah Hu's underground boxing was incredibly ferocious. A moment's carelessness could indeed cost one's life.

After dodging a few times, Chen Feng decided to stop.

He had already figured out Ah Hu's punching patterns; it was time to counter-attack.

Taking a deep breath, Chen Feng circled behind Ah Hu.

He delivered a powerful punch directly to Ah Hu's side waist.

Fist to fist!

Ah Hu didn't even groan and fell to the ground, unconscious.

When Chen Feng had fought the other cellmates, he hadn't used his full strength. Against Ah Hu, he unleashed his full power.

Seeing that Ah Hu was incapacitated, the cell boss's legs involuntarily went weak.

With a thud, he knelt before Chen Feng.

"Kid, I was wrong. I shouldn't have underestimated you, and I shouldn't have kept pestering you. You have a big heart, please let me go."

The cell boss pleaded.

"I gave you a chance, but you didn't take it. There's nothing I can do."

With that, Chen Feng kicked the cell boss directly in the jaw.

The cell boss didn't even groan and passed out.

The middle-aged man beside them was stunned.

"Holy cow, am I watching a martial arts movie?"

The middle-aged man asked tremblingly.

"Brother, you're not dreaming. To be honest, I've practiced traditional martial arts. Dealing with a few bullies who abuse their power isn't a big problem."

"Thank you, kid. If it weren't for you, I would still be bullied by these scoundrels."

The middle-aged man thanked Chen Feng with tears in his eyes.

"Brother, judging by your appearance, you don't seem like a bad person. How did you end up here?"

Chen Feng asked tentatively.

"I was framed and sent here. I was originally the Deputy Mayor in charge of the economy for Jiangcheng's Hongyan District."

Xiao Qiang said sadly.

"You're Deputy Mayor Xiao?"

Chen Feng was taken aback.

"Yes."

"Deputy Mayor Xiao, you're quite famous in Jiangcheng. You're very skilled at managing the economy, so how did you get framed and sent to a place like this?"

Chen Feng asked, confused.

"Alas, the biggest mistake I made was thinking about climbing higher, which offended another Deputy Mayor, and then I was framed and sent here."

Xiao Qiang sighed deeply.

"Deputy Mayor Xiao, don't be too disheartened. The case hasn't been judged yet; there's still room for maneuver."

Chen Feng comforted Xiao Qiang.

He already had an idea. This was a good opportunity. If he could find a way to help Xiao Qiang leave the detention center, Xiao Qiang would surely repay him.

This way, in the future, when Qin Yan encountered any tricky economic problems, she could ask Xiao Qiang for help.

"It's useless. Deputy Mayor Li has more connections than me, and I can't compete with him."

Xiao Qiang said with despair.
