"Speak if you have something to say, fart if you have to, and scram if you don't!"
Ling Mohan cast a look of slight disdain upon Chu Chenyi, wishing he could slam the door shut immediately.
"You..." Chu Chenyi pointed at Ling Mohan with resentment, took a deep breath, and suppressed his anger. He needed something from Ling Mohan now and couldn't afford to offend him further.
"This prince has something important to discuss. Let me in first."
The priority was to get inside. Not being kicked out by Ling Mohan would already be the best outcome.
"Speak quickly." Ling Mohan looked at Chu Chenyi, who was sitting opposite him, and felt a wave of annoyance, his tone laced with utter disdain.
"His Majesty is gravely ill. I want Feng Jin to accompany me to the palace to examine him." Chu Chenyi dropped all pretense and stated his purpose directly.
"Since you are seeking Feng Jin's help, you should have gone to her to explain this. Why are you sneaking around to find me?"
If he needed Feng Jin's assistance, why wasn't he finding a way to ask her directly? Coming to him to discuss it was pointless. He couldn't make decisions for Feng Jin, so discussing it with him was a waste of time.
"You think I haven't tried to find Feng Jin? If it were useful, I wouldn't be here looking for you. Am I crazy for coming here!"
Chu Chenyi said resentfully. He felt he could still persuade Feng Jin; otherwise, he wouldn't have climbed over the wall to find Ling Mohan with such effort.
Now, the only way to achieve this was to find Ling Mohan and have him persuade Feng Jin.
"Now, the only hope is for you to explain this to Feng Jin and find a way to get her to accompany me to the palace. Father Emperor is on his deathbed. If this is delayed, it will likely lead to great chaos."
The current situation was perilous. The Father Emperor was critically ill, the imperial physicians in the palace were helpless, and the Empress was desperately trying to seize control. If the Empress Dowager weren't still in the palace managing the overall situation, it would have descended into utter chaos long ago.
The most urgent task now was to get Feng Jin into the palace quickly to try and save the Father Emperor.
"Is His Majesty truly gravely ill? Why are you only informing me of this now?"
Why did Chu Chenyi wait until the situation was critical to relay such important news? Everything was being delayed by him.
Ling Mohan, no longer as calm as before, showed a look of urgency.
"The news from the palace has been blocked. I only just received word. I rushed to find Feng Jin without even going into the palace, wanting to bring her with me."
If it weren't for the Empress Dowager secretly sending someone with the message, he would still be completely unaware.
Ling Mohan's brow furrowed tightly. He didn't bother asking Chu Chenyi about other matters and hastily got up to leave.
"Why are you leaving so quickly? Wait for me..."
Chu Chenyi felt a gust of wind sweep past him, and Ling Mohan was gone. All he could see was a corner of Ling Mohan's robe.
Coming to his senses, Chu Chenyi quickly stood up and rushed to catch up to Ling Mohan.
"You're too slow... I... I really can't keep up!"
Chu Chenyi gasped for air, his forehead and back slick with sweat from running almost the entire way. Ling Mohan, however, still maintained his calm demeanor, showing no signs of panic at all.
"If you go any slower, we'll lose him. Your body is too weak. You're already exhausted after running for such a short time. You must take the medicine Feng Jin prescribed on time for it to be effective. And you must not overexert yourself at night; this frail body can't handle it."
Ling Mohan patted Chu Chenyi on the shoulder and advised him earnestly, genuinely concerned for his health.
He didn't want Chu Chenyi to collapse from overexertion. After all, it was Chu Chenyi himself who would suffer. He should take good care of himself while he was young, otherwise, it would be too late in old age, and even the most potent tonics would be wasted.
"Shut your mouth! My body is not weak at all. If you dare to spread rumors again, I'll fight you to the death!"
Chu Chenyi exploded, shouting angrily. The rumor about his weak physique had been spread by Ling Mohan himself.
Now, to be gossiping in front of him was unbearable. If he could tolerate this, he'd be a fool.
"The truth is often unpleasant, but it's useful. You must recuperate for a period!"
Ling Mohan said earnestly. He didn't want to see Chu Chenyi die prematurely; he was genuinely looking out for him. How could Chu Chenyi perceive it this way? It was truly disheartening.
"Just shut up. The less you say, the more years I might live."
As for how long he would live, he didn't know himself, but he was certain that if Ling Mohan continued to provoke him like this, he would truly die prematurely.
"I won't waste any more time on pointless chatter with you. When we meet Feng Jin, you must be humble. Feng Jin is typically stubborn and only responds to gentleness. You need to speak to her properly, and she will surely agree."
He knew Feng Jin's temperament all too well. She was typically stubborn and only responded to gentleness. Soft words would certainly smooth the way. If he insisted on confronting her head-on, he would be the one to suffer the consequences in the end.
After walking around for a bit, they finally found Feng Jin in the backyard.
Upon seeing Ling Mohan, Feng Jin's expression immediately soured, and the smile on her lips gradually faded.
"Who told you to come out? Did you completely disregard everything I told you?"
It hadn't been long since she had spoken, and before her words had even settled, she directly grabbed Ling Mohan, intending to pull him away. If she allowed Ling Mohan to continue like this, there would be no point in treating his illness; he might as well be left to his fate.
"Hurry back, quickly..."
Feng Jin's urgent voice filled the entire room. Ling Mohan felt like weeping without tears.
"Alright, calm down. I have something important to tell you."
Ling Mohan grabbed Feng Jin's hand, trying to stop her, but it was to no avail. In the end, he was led by the nose by Feng Jin.
Chu Chenyi, following behind them, showed an uncharacteristic burst of alertness, slowly trailing behind the two, unwilling to leave an inch.
Feng Jin directly dragged him back into the room: "Lie down properly. If you dare to act recklessly again, I won't even spare you a glance when you die."
Ling Mohan pouted, looking very wronged. He signaled Chu Chenyi with his eyes to seize the opportunity and start speaking quickly.
"Well, I..."
Before Chu Chenyi could finish his sentence, Feng Jin interrupted him with a single look.
