Chapter 1630: Chapter 1630: I Won’t Torment You Anymore
Not only that, when she stabbed him there wasn’t the slightest hesitation. If he hadn’t reacted quickly enough, the knife would have gone deeper.
Qi Ruigang had always believed Mo Lan was a kind and gentle woman.
She didn’t even dare kill a fish, let alone a person.
Yet when she attacked him, there wasn’t a shred of reluctance, not even a trace of hesitation.
It showed just how much she hated him—so much that she wished for his death.
The thought made Qi Ruigang feel restless and deeply uncomfortable.
"You damn woman! How dare you try to kill me!" he spat through clenched teeth, his gaze dark and menacing.
Mo Lan’s face showed no fear. "Killing you would only be deserved!"
"You..." Qi Ruigang’s chest heaved with anger, but beneath the fury, there was an unsettling discomfort.
This woman’s impact on him was growing stronger, and he knew he had to rid himself of the poisonous addiction she induced.
"Mo Lan, if you obediently come back with me, I’ll help Ruan Tianling deal with Nangong Xu. Otherwise, don’t blame me for refusing to cooperate with all of you!" he threatened coldly.
Mo Lan, however, wasn’t buying it. "I’ll relay every word of yours to Mr. Ruan without missing a single detail. I’m sure once he hears it, you won’t be let go so easily."
"Even if he knows, he’ll have no choice but to let me walk free!"
"Qi Ruigang, in my eyes, you’re worse than a stray dog. Why cling to me so desperately? Around you, I’ve lost all my dignity, my self-respect. I’ve become as lowly as garbage. Do you insist on tormenting me to death before you find satisfaction?"
Qi Ruigang pressed his thin lips together tightly. "From now on, I won’t torment you."
"Why?" Mo Lan demanded, pressing him further.
Qi Ruigang didn’t bother to hide the truth. "Because I’ve realized I’m interested in you. I want you to stay by my side, and I promise not to hurt you again."
Mo Lan scoffed. "Am I to understand that you’ve fallen in love with me?"
"You can call it liking," Qi Ruigang said with a wicked smile.
Love? That wasn’t possible.
"Should I feel honored to receive your liking? Should I be so grateful that I crawl back to your side in tears to accept your so-called affection?"
"Exactly!" Qi Ruigang replied smugly.
Mo Lan’s eyes flashed with disgust. "How unfortunate. Your ’liking’ feels more dangerous than venomous serpents. I’d rather live out my days in solitude than ever accept it! Your liking is something I detest beyond measure—I avoid it as much as I can!"
"Damn woman—" Qi Ruigang was once again furious. "Do you even know who you’re talking to? You should count yourself fortunate that I’ve taken an interest in you!"
"I couldn’t care less!"
"Mo Lan, you ungrateful woman—"
"No, the real problem is you—you’re the nauseating man here. After everything you’ve done to hurt me, you still have the audacity to expect me to embrace your affection? Laughable! Where do you even get the confidence? Why don’t you just transform into a peacock and parade around?"
"You... You really aren’t afraid of me withholding my help from Ruan Tianling and the others?" Qi Ruigang threatened once more.
Mo Lan’s gaze flickered slightly. "Mr. Ruan spared you out of kindness. Instead of being grateful, you insist on going back on your word. If you really choose betrayal, we won’t have any other options.
Even if I followed you back, you’d still betray us. Qi Ruigang, haven’t you figured me out by now? Constantly forcing me, hurting me—it’ll only make me resent you more.
If you did something truly good, maybe I’d change my opinion of you, maybe I’d try to see you differently. Of course, it’s possible that my opinion means nothing to you."
With those words, Mo Lan calmly walked to the door and left.
Did she really not understand Qi Ruigang’s character?
In front of him, she always knew exactly what to say and when to say it.
