Chapter 1635: Chapter 1635 “Joining Forces” to Torment Her

Especially a deep kiss, there had barely been a handful of times.

So, this kiss lasted a long time. Every moment was full of passion and intention, like trying to seize every second to savor this wonderful feeling.

Jian Yufei prepared a table full of delicious food for Ruan Tianling. She accompanied him for dinner and personally sent him to his car, watching him as he left.

She always had a sense of unease, her heart restless, though she couldn’t pinpoint what exactly she was worrying about.

“Yufei, are you worried about Mr. Ruan?” Mo Lan asked gently as she stood beside her.

Jian Yufei nodded, “I’m a little worried.”

“Mr. Ruan is only going to see a doctor; it won’t be an issue.”

Jian Yufei smiled, “You’re right, I’m probably just overthinking.”

“How’s Ansel doing? Didn’t they say the results would come out today?” Mo Lan asked concernedly.

Jian Yufei felt suffocated in her chest but kept her expression calm and composed. “They haven’t provided the results yet. They said it would take a few more days.”

Mo Lan held her hand, “Don’t worry, Ansel is blessed by fate; he’ll be fine for sure.”

“I know.” Jian Yufei smiled faintly.

Her child surely wouldn’t have anything wrong because she wouldn’t let it happen.

After Ruan Tianling left, Jian Yufei found the days unbearably hard to endure.

She cared for Ansel every day, played music for him to listen to, and read him storybooks.

She believed that even if he was asleep, he could still hear her voice.

Fortunately, with Mo Lan by her side, she didn’t feel as lonely.

Three days slipped by, but there was neither a call nor any news from Ruan Tianling.

Usually, he would return within three days, but this time, three days had passed, and there was still no sign of him.

She wanted to call him, but his phone was switched off.

Jian Yufei’s unease grew stronger by the day. She asked Awei if he could get in contact with Ruan Tianling.

Awei said Ruan Tianling had sent him a special message, stating that he would need a few more days to return and told her not to worry.

Why would he need a few more days?

Awei said he hadn’t provided any explanation, nor had he said anything else.

Jian Yufei feared most that he had gone off to confront Nangong Xu recklessly. She really hoped he wasn’t doing something so foolish.

Knowing that Ruan Tianling was fine eased Jian Yufei’s mind considerably.

But as long as she couldn’t see him for a day, her worry never ceased.

Another three days passed in what seemed like an instant.

Ansel remained unconscious, and Ruan Tianling still hadn’t returned.

Jian Yufei felt like she had reached her limit.

Father and son seem to have ‘teamed up’ to torment her. Did they even know how much pain she was enduring?

She asked for nothing else but simply wished for them to remain safe and sound.

“Yufei, you haven’t eaten anything all day. I made some century egg and lean pork congee—please have a bowl, alright?” Mo Lan placed the steaming hot congee on the coffee table, trying to comfort her.

Jian Yufei glanced at her hands. “Your hands aren’t supposed to be doing tasks like this. You must stop cooking in the future.”

Mo Lan laughed, “Well, since I rarely cook, would you do me the honor of tasting it?”

“Of course, I will.” Jian Yufei smiled and stood up. How could she let someone’s kindness go to waste?

She walked to the sofa, sat down, and picked up the spoon to start eating.

Mo Lan tucked the blanket neatly around Ansel and looked at his little face with a motherly affection.

“You really like children?” Jian Yufei suddenly asked her.

Mo Lan nodded shyly, “Yes, I do. I don’t know why, but whenever I see a child, I can’t help but be drawn to them—I just can’t seem to look away. Ansel is the cutest child I’ve ever seen; I’ve utterly ‘fallen for’ him.”
