Chapter 48 The School Year Begins

Jing Mingqiu looked back and saw a strange man pulling a suitcase, looking at him curiously.

"That's right, I am Jing Mingqiu. Who are you?"

"My name is Tang Bei, I'm also from Dongyang City No. 7 Middle School, in the class next to yours," Tang Bei ran over quickly, "Jing Mingqiu, didn't you get picked up by the army and directly admitted to Jingda University? How did you end up here!"

Jing Mingqiu shrugged, chuckled softly, and offered the excuse he had prepared earlier: "That was just a misunderstanding."

"I helped the Black Wolf team modify their drones. To ensure victory, the team manager secretly replaced the chips with smuggled chips of two-nanometer precision. After being caught, he, to absolve himself, claimed the chip was for my carving and that I had hand-crafted a lithography machine."

"The Dean of Jingda University's Chip Research Institute believed him... Now the misunderstanding has been cleared up, I've lost my admission qualification, and I didn't do well in the college entrance exam, so I can only come here."

After hearing Jing Mingqiu's explanation, Tang Bei gently shook his head, "So that's how it is. What a shame, Jing Mingqiu. If you had played along, you could have been admitted to Jingcheng University."

"There's nothing to be ashamed of," Jing Mingqiu said dismissively, "What's fake is fake after all. It would be even more embarrassing if it was exposed later."

"Dongyang City University of Science and Technology is also quite good. Not to mention anything else, it's quite close to home, making it convenient to visit."

"That's true," Tang Bei changed the subject, "Jing Mingqiu, let's not just stand here like fools. Let's hurry and register, then go to the dorms to grab the best beds."

"Let me tell you, absolutely do not grab the bed by the door, otherwise, opening and closing the door, turning the lights on and off, will all be your job."

Jing Mingqiu replied, "I already knew that, it's not like I've never lived in a dorm before!"

The registration points for different majors in the same school were different. The two parted ways at an intersection. Jing Mingqiu pulled his suitcase to the registration area of the Art College, registered, filled out forms, joined the class group, and was assigned a dorm...

More than an hour later, Jing Mingqiu pulled his suitcase and walked into the boys' dormitory building.

Just registering shouldn't have taken that long.

As the saying goes, beauty is a feast for the eyes.

In the Dance Academy, whether they were senior or junior students, each had their own charm. Jing Mingqiu had been working with a group of men in their late forties and fifties at the Nuclear Physics Research Institute for over two months, and his mind was a bit tired.

Now, it was good to feast his eyes on pretty girls, which caused him to delay a bit.

"Second floor, 214, here it is."

Jing Mingqiu took out the newly issued dorm key, inserted it into the dorm door, and just as he was about to push, the door was pulled open by a burly man.

Immediately after, a man's voice came from inside the dorm.

"The last roommate has arrived, welcome, a warm welcome!"

Jing Mingqiu found the voice familiar. He looked up and realized the person speaking was none other than Tang Bei.

"What a coincidence!" Tang Bei also recognized Jing Mingqiu and quickly ran over to help him with his luggage, "Jing Mingqiu, you're in this dorm too. For the next four years, we'll be roommates."

"However, you're late. All the other beds have been taken, only the one by the door is left," Tang Bei's voice grew smaller, sounding a bit embarrassed.

Jing Mingqiu was unfazed, "It's fine. I'll modify it later and add some smart devices for remote control of lights and doors."

"Almost forgot, Jing Mingqiu, you're a master modifier," Tang Bei patted his forehead forcefully, "I'll entrust this to you. Oh, and can you add a voltage conversion device?"

"There are special restrictions on electricity usage in the dorms, and high-power appliances cannot be used. I bought a hairdryer and want to use it in the dorm!"

"That's simple," before Jing Mingqiu could reply, the burly man who had opened the door spoke first, "Just install a voltage converter. I've already prepared one. We can plug it into the socket later."

"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Yun Pengtao, graduated from Dijin Experimental High School, majoring in Mechanical Engineering." After speaking, Yun Pengtao extended his right hand to Jing Mingqiu.

Jing Mingqiu placed his phone on the bed and shook Yun Pengtao's hand, "My name is Jing Mingqiu, from Dongyang City No. 7 Middle School, majoring in Dance."

Sitting on the bed, a thin and emaciated man stood up after hearing their conversation, "My name is Xia Zhongtian, from the affiliated high school of Modu University, majoring in Medicine."

After brief introductions, the others helped Jing Mingqiu unpack. To celebrate their coincidence of being in the same dorm, the four of them went out to a restaurant for a meal.

They were all around the same age, with no conflicts among them, so the four quickly became familiar and established an order based on age.

Jing Mingqiu was the oldest, Yun Pengtao second, Tang Bei third, and Xia Zhongtian the youngest.

After clinking glasses and enjoying a satisfying meal, the four of them, with arms slung around each other, returned to the dorm.

Jing Mingqiu, quick with his hands, was the first to rush into the bathroom and take a refreshing shower, washing away the smell of alcohol and sweat.

After showering, Jing Mingqiu came out wrapped in a towel and walked to Tang Bei's bed, "Third brother, can I borrow your hairdryer?"

"Sure, here you go!"

Jing Mingqiu took the hairdryer, plugged it into the socket, and as soon as he turned it on, after only a few blows, there was a 'pop,' the hairdryer suddenly stopped blowing, and the overhead light extinguished, plunging the dorm into darkness. Only a few phone screens emitted faint starlight.

"It's okay, the hairdryer's power was too high and tripped the breaker. I'll go find the dorm supervisor to reset it."

With that, Yun Pengtao strode out of the dorm.

Five minutes later, with a soft 'pop,' the power was restored, and the dorm was once again illuminated.

Yun Pengtao pushed the door open, walked to his cabinet, took out a palm-sized voltage converter, and then took the hairdryer from Jing Mingqiu's hand, plugging it into the converter.

"From now on, for high-power appliances like hairdryers, plug them into the voltage converter. This way, it won't trip the breaker anymore, right?"

"Crack!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the dorm was plunged into darkness again. Yun Pengtao, holding the hairdryer, froze with a triumphant expression, and the atmosphere in the entire dorm became incredibly awkward.

"Uh, boss, I haven't calibrated it properly yet. Wait for me to adjust it, and then it will work normally."

Yun Pengtao turned on his phone's flashlight, held the voltage converter, and after a quick adjustment, wiped his sweat, "Alright, it should be fine now! Wait for me, I'll go find the dorm supervisor to reset the breaker."

Ten minutes later, the power returned, and the dorm lit up again. Yun Pengtao rushed in from outside without delay. After carefully plugging in the voltage converter, he confidently turned on the hairdryer.

"Crack!" With another crisp sound, the scene repeated itself, and the dorm was plunged into darkness once more.

Jing Mingqiu could no longer stand it and casually threw a scan at the voltage converter.

[Name: Voltage Converter (Fake)]

[Description: This is just two loops of wire stuffed into a box. Not only does it have no voltage conversion function, but due to the use of substandard wires, there is also a risk of electric leakage.]
