Hu Die Lan

Chapter 920 Sword Demon, You're on Fire!

Chapter 27 We Have This Day Too!

"We finally have this day too, huh!" Yu Tian Shen Ming sighed with emotion as they entered Assault City's wanted mission office. The journey here had been quite fraught with difficulties. Although their PK value hadn't reached 30, a value of 20-plus would still attract attacks from patrolling guards or pillar sentries. Getting caught meant not only jail time but also a two-level drop, so they couldn't afford to be careless. They proceeded cautiously, and their overall speed wasn't much faster than the legion's. Now that they'd stepped into the mission office, Yu Tian Shen Ming finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Be careful." They each accepted a mission and cautioned each other. Wanted missions were high-risk, and no one would simply stand by and let themselves be arrested. One wrong move could lead to being wiped out instead, resulting in significant losses.

Subsequently, Jian Gui slapped the Chasing Wind Emblem and vanished. The Chasing Wind Emblem was a tradeable item, so he ultimately borrowed Gu Fei's. As for Yu Tian Shen Ming, he directly borrowed Gu Fei himself. He sent a message informing Gu Fei of his coordinates and set off immediately.

The Five Hundred Legion finally escaped Qian Li Zui's shadow, but seeing him accelerate towards the main city filled everyone with unease.

"Shi Xin, do you think they might be going into the city to set a trap for us?" someone asked Shi Xin Suo.

"These people are despicable and cunning; it's not impossible," Shi Xin Suo frowned, once again faced with a decision.

"But we can't just avoid the city!" someone said.

"We need supplies!" mages, archers, and others chimed in. They hadn't anticipated such heavy consumption on this journey. Qian Li Zui, like a wolf, had harassed them relentlessly, forcing them to constantly attack. Archers had used up one set of arrows after another, and mages were starting to feel sick of eating fruit. Many people would take a bite, get the effect, then spit it out and throw it away, leaving a trail of discarded fruit peels, showing a complete lack of environmental awareness.

"Should we enter through a different gate?" someone suggested.

Shi Xin Suo was truly torn.

"Where's Xi Yao Wu?" someone suddenly asked.

Jian Gui leaving, Yu Tian Shen Ming leaving, Qian Li Zui leaving – they'd witnessed it all. But what about Xi Yao Wu? She would occasionally stealth, then reveal herself. Although she wasn't as conspicuous as the other three, no one knew her current whereabouts.

"Could she still be following us nearby?" someone said.

"Mages, archers!" Shi Xin Suo shouted. The mages and archers immediately unleashed a 360-degree map attack. This time, no one held back. The barrage of attacks blossomed like fireworks, but the red figure didn't appear.

"At least… she's not within our attack range," Shi Xin Suo concluded.

"We're being played like this by just four people?" Some exchanged bewildered glances.

There were many experts in their ranks. Considering they represented the elite forces of their main city, it was hard to believe that they were being completely outmaneuvered by only four opponents so early in the game.

"That's the reality," Shi Xin Suo sighed.

"What do we do then?" someone returned to the original question.

"If they come again, we'll go to the resurrection point and log off first. If they don't come, I think they've gone to harass other teams," Shi Xin Suo said.

Silence fell. It was a matter of sacrificing others to save themselves, a topic too delicate to discuss openly. They silently hoped for the best.

The question of whether they'd be ambushed upon entering the city required careful consideration. After much deliberation, Shi Xin Suo decided to send scouts ahead to explore.

The brothers tasked with scouting stripped off their valuable equipment, disguised themselves as commoners, and adopted the solemn air of heroes embarking on a journey from which they might not return. The farewell ceremony was exceedingly tragic as they bravely ventured into Assault City.

"No ambush. We didn't see Qian Li Zui and his group," the scouts' message brought a surge of relief. However, they couldn't show it on their faces. The fact that these guys weren't here meant they were undoubtedly causing trouble elsewhere. From that perspective, beaming with joy was hardly appropriate.

Shi Xin Suo led the group into the city, continuing to proceed with caution.

"I don't think they've necessarily left…" someone suddenly said.

"What do you think then?"

"Washing off PK value takes time. I don't think they've completely cleared it yet. If they wait until they've cleared it and then come after us from behind, then we..." The person wore a look of tragic despair.

"What do you suggest?" Shi Xin Suo asked.

"Let's log off and rest for a while!" the person proposed.

"That might be a good idea," Shi Xin Suo nodded. Others who had a voice also expressed their agreement. It was better to be cautious, so the group changed course and headed to the resurrection point. Without encountering any ambush or harassment, they logged off to rest, driven solely by excessive suspicion.

"We'll log back in later. Qian Li Zui definitely won't be here then." These players were from the same city and knew each other. They didn't need to arrange offline contact beforehand; it was already established.

"Mm…" Shi Xin Suo responded, but he wasn't thrilled. If Qian Li Zui wasn't here, where could he be? He couldn't have logged off to rest as well, could he?

"Sigh." Shi Xin Suo's sigh heralded the beginning of another team tragedy.

There was nothing new about the story: a new main city, a new team targeted by Gu Fei and his group of four. Gu Fei attracted attention, making everyone jittery and cautious. Jian Gui and Yu Tian Shen Ming continued to coordinate, reaping havoc. Xi Yao Wu ambushed those attempting to sneak attack Yu Tian Shen Ming.

The same helplessness, the same tearful despair. They wanted to seek advice from Shi Xin Suo's team, who had been ambushed earlier, but they discovered that the entire group was offline. This group of five hundred had just reached their second stop and were heading towards their third, which was over three hours away. At the rate of two kills per minute, it would take exactly three hours for the group to be completely wiped out.

They tried all the methods Shi Xin Suo had used, and they even tried methods Shi Xin Suo hadn't. Nothing worked. Helplessly watching over fifty warriors fall, Qian Li Zui brandished his fearsome Dark Night Flowing Light Sword, seemingly waiting for them to lose their protection before charging in to instantly kill everything. The five hundred retreated. They dared not continue forward. The team turned back and re-entered the main city, heading straight to the resurrection point to log off.

The remaining teams received the news, but they didn't want to be wiped out like that. They urgently discussed countermeasures, debating how to deal with the opponents' shameless CD (cooldown) strategy.

In Cloudrise City, You Ge and the others heard about the quartet's arrogant and tyrannical exploits and offered their condolences. They also discussed the possibility of wiping out the opponents entirely on the road, but they were met with Han Jia Gongzi's routine disdain.

"Then what do you think they'll do?" You Ge was among the more resilient people to Han Jia Gongzi's disdain.

"Scatter and go their separate ways. Let those four go to hell!" Han Jia Gongzi said.

You Ge was stunned. He realized that he deserved to be looked down upon. This method wasn't ingenious at all, and he hadn't even realized it.

It was understandable if You Ge alone had overlooked this possibility, but for the Great Figures' legion of ten thousand to miss it would be unscientific. In the end, they adopted this simple and effective method: the five hundred would split up and go their separate ways.

They were simply traveling, and there were no dangers along the way. Seeing that the five hundred clumped together were an easy target, the various teams made a decisive decision to promote this strategy of splitting up.

The map was filled with players leveling, doing quests, flirting, and PK-ing. With the five hundred scattered, they were instantly lost in the sea of players. Gu Fei and his group of four couldn't even recognize them, let alone find them.

The four had already been heading towards their third target when they received news that the opponents had adopted this strategy. They rushed out of the main city and saw that the vast leveling area was indeed devoid of any five-hundred-member groups. They asked the players on the roadside, but they also shook their heads, not knowing anything. The large team had completely broken down into smaller units.

"They ran fast enough," Yu Tian Shen Ming said, disappointed. It was rare to have such a great opportunity to show off, but it had ended just like that. Now that these people had come up with such a method, they probably wouldn't regroup before reaching their destination.

Jian Gui was also helpless. Gu Fei and Xi Yao Wu, on the other hand, breathed a sigh of relief. This business trip had been quite depressing. They had barely gotten any fighting opportunities. It had mostly been about baring their fangs and claws to scare people. Xi Yao Wu was better off; she had at least eliminated a few people. As for Gu Fei, he had been purely posing. He had posed twice in a row and was already completely bored.

"It's over, it's over. Retreat!" Captain Xi Yao Wu ordered the troops to withdraw.

"Aiya, aiya, aiya," Yu Tian Shen Ming lamented.

This CD-flow harassment attack came to an end. At this time, some posts quickly appeared on websites and forums, heavily criticizing Jian Gui's CD-flow strategy. They were obviously written by the one thousand or so people who had been forced offline earlier. They didn't dare to log back in, so they could only vent their frustration on the forums. As a result, someone accidentally let slip that they numbered five hundred. This caused an uproar. The fact that one person could play with five hundred people like that was considered great, whether it was despicable, low-down, or shameless. No one cared to listen when they tried to explain how the opponents' harassment skills were powerful or how terrifying Qian Li Zui was.

Jian Gui, a name that had always been loud and clear, but had encountered many obstacles in Parallel World and had never really stood out, finally shone. Some players even wrote exaggerated posts like "The Return of the King." Others began to discuss whether Jian Gui, who could handle five hundred people, or Qian Li Zui, who could fight one thousand people, was stronger.

"Jian Gui, you're famous!" You Ge congratulated Jian Gui when he met him after returning to the main city.

"Famous for what?" Jian Gui was still clueless. Who would be like You Ge, going up and down to check the forums while playing a game?

You Ge explained the situation on the forums in general terms, and Jian Gui finally understood.

"What about me? What about me?" Yu Tian Shen Ming widened his eyes.

"You… I don't think I saw your name," You Ge recalled. "Qian Li was mentioned a little, and Xi Yao Wu too…"

Yu Tian Shen Ming was extremely depressed. He had played a significant role in such a grand performance. He could even be considered the male supporting lead. How could his name not even be on the cast list?
