Hu Die Lan
Chapter 927 Long Tradition
Every main city has taverns, and every main city has taverns run by players. Compared to system taverns, player taverns might not be as big or have as many kinds of drinks, but players still prefer them. Besides the fact that player taverns feel more attentive and relaxed, the key is that you can communicate when something happens in a player tavern, unlike the system which only operates according to data and never shows any leniency.
This situation, for example, is where a player tavern is very helpful.
When Jili Jiadao arrived at the tavern, he saw half the room filled with wood shavings, all from destroyed tables and chairs, some still smoldering. This showed how intense the fight had been. A mage couldn't burn all the tables with just a few fire spells; it took quite a few spells to do that.
"How is it? Are you alright?" Jili Jiadao saw Baodu Fengshuang and a few others sitting in the middle of the ruined tavern, still drinking!
Baodu Fengshuang turned his head and saw their guild leader. He shook his head. "We're fine, one died."
"What about the owner?" Jili Jiadao asked.
"It's been taken care of." Baodu Fengshuang smiled. This was the advantage of causing trouble in a player tavern. The owner is a person and can sit down and negotiate. Unlike system taverns, where system guards would come when something happened and then fine you to death. With player taverns, as long as the owner doesn't apply to the system, the system is too embarrassed to interfere.
"I know you're in a bad mood," Jili Jiadao said, patting Baodu Fengshuang's shoulder.
"Some people didn't know, and they ended up unlucky," Baodu Fengshuang said, handing Jili Jiadao a bottle of wine.
Jili Jiadao took it, drank a mouthful, and smiled. "Feeling better now?"
Baodu Fengshuang also smiled and changed the subject. "You got here fast?" Jili Jiadao, their guild leader, was famously slow to catch on. For example, he was much slower to react to the efficiency leveling method than others. His name was Jiadao (Arrive), but he was known for being late. Outsiders who didn't like their guild called him Chilai (Late Arrival) instead.
"Just passing by," Jili Jiadao said.
Baodu Fengshuang nodded. Neither of them said anything else, because what came next was said in the guild channel. Jili Jiadao didn't ask much. When he received the message, he already knew that Baodu Fengshuang had gotten into a fight with the people from Luanshi. He came over himself while also calling for people in the guild. He only checked on Baodu Fengshuang and the others; he didn't ask about the cause of the incident.
Because it didn't matter. The two guilds had always been on bad terms. Regardless of who was right or wrong, Jili Jiadao would definitely support Baodu Fengshuang with his guild brothers. They had been arguing verbally for a long time, and it was lucky that several potential PKs hadn't been triggered, but both sides were mentally prepared. Sooner or later, they would fight to the death.
But to have it happen right at the time of the efficiency leveling method, Jili Jiadao could only lament the irony of fate. What did this mean? Have everyone drop a few levels first, then level up efficiently together?
While Jili Jiadao was drinking, calling for people in the guild, and chatting with Baodu Fengshuang, the other door of the tavern was suddenly slammed open, and several people jumped in. They glanced at Baodu Fengshuang and the others, and the leader paused when he saw Jili Jiadao. "Damn, how did you get here so fast this time?"
Jili Jiadao was depressed. His problem wasn't a secret; everyone in the city knew it, and he knew it himself. But being teased by his own brothers and being mocked by his opponents were two different things. He immediately glared. "What's it to you?"
"Who doesn't know your famous Jili Chidao (Jili Late Arrival)! I thought I'd have to wipe out your guild ten or eight times before you figured out what was going on!" The guy talking to Jili Jiadao wasn't small fry either. It was Yang Kai, the leader of Luanshi.
Coincidentally, both guild leaders were the first to arrive at the scene, and they didn't abandon the glorious tradition of arguing. They exchanged a few words as soon as they met. Yang Kai was also very aware. He didn't dwell on who started it or who provoked who. They were already fighting, and with their relationship, did they expect the other side to hand over the culprit for them to punish? He rolled up his sleeves and was ready to PK as soon as he entered.
Jili Jiadao was a slowpoke! A major characteristic of slowpokes in arguments is that they often don't know what's happening when they're being scolded, giving the onlookers a good laugh. So Jili Jiadao didn't try to use his weakness against his strength. He also took a fighting stance and provoked Yang Kai. "While there aren't many people here, why don't we practice a little?"
"Fuck your mother, practice your sister!" Yang Kai cursed. He was a thief, and Jili Jiadao was a warrior, which completely countered thieves in the narrow space of a house. Moreover, Jili Jiadao's slowpoke attribute didn't seem to extend to his PK. He was a well-known PK expert in their main city. Of course, some people said it was because he was slow that he often didn't think about the consequences when he PKed, which made him seem fierce. But no matter how you put it, Yang Kai admitted that he couldn't compare to Jili Jiadao in PK, especially since he was being completely countered by the environment. Agreeing to a duel would be asking for trouble.
"What, you don't dare? Then I'll just pick someone to practice with you. Alpus, you go practice with Guild Leader Yang." Jili Jiadao didn't come alone. He turned his head and flicked his head at a player behind him.
"Ri ri ri, Jili Chidao, go die!" Yang Kai saw that the person Jili Jiadao had picked was also a warrior, Alpus, their guild's number one fighter. This was no different from Jili Jiadao fighting himself.
"Damn, still don't dare? Are you waiting for me to find an archer to fight you here?" Jili Jiadao said.
"That sounds good! Dare you?" Yang Kai said.
"Yang Buyaolian (Yang Shameless), you're really fucking shameless!" Just like Jili Jiadao's slowness, Yang Kai's shamelessness was also famous.
"Guild Leader!"
"Guild Leader!"
As shouts came from the two doors on either side, both sides' men had arrived one after another. The tavern couldn't fit too many people, and there was already a queue outside. Seeing the guild badges of the players queuing at the other door, what else was there to say? Curse! So, from inside the tavern to outside the tavern, the guild leaders took the lead, and the queued-up players started cursing...
Verbal sparring was truly the glorious tradition of these two guilds.
"Yang Buyaolian, do you dare to duel me here?" Jili Jiadao had found an entry point, grabbing onto this point and repeating it over and over. He knew that if he said too much, he might be taken down because of his slowness, so he stuck to one topic. That couldn't be wrong!
"Jili Chidao, don't talk nonsense here. If you like duels so much, why did you form a guild!" Even if Yang Kai didn't dare, he wouldn't show weakness.
Chirping and chattering, all talk and no action, but neither side felt embarrassed, because that's how they always were. Although the guild leaders had solemnly said before coming that this time was very different, and a full-scale war might break out, as soon as they met, they started cursing and arguing, and everyone habitually went down the old path.
However, what frustrated Jili Jiadao's guild was that today their opponents kept bringing up Baodu Fengshuang's crushing defeat in Yunduan City...
Baodu Fengshuang had dropped three levels in Yunduan City, and everyone in the guild knew it. They would be embarrassed if they didn't call it a crushing defeat. How could such a failure have happened right before the two sides were about to argue?
The two sides, who had always been evenly matched, were now in a precarious situation because the other side had a ruthless argument. The players in Jili Jiadao's guild felt that they might be in trouble.
"Guild Leader, should we kill them?!" Someone started asking in the guild channel. This showed that one reason why these two major guilds had always been all talk and no action was that they had always been in a delicate state of balance in verbal sparring. But now that Luanshi had found a topic and had something to say, they had suddenly gained the upper hand, and the idea of taking action was about to gain the upper hand among those who couldn't win the argument.
While the masses were at a disadvantage because of this topic, Guild Leader Jili Jiadao in the tavern was cursing magnificently with the "Dare you duel me here" argument. He was a little reluctant, he rarely was able to gain such an advantage in verbal sparring!
"Guild Leader, should we kill them?"
"Guild Leader, should we kill them!"
"Guild Leader, should we kill them!!!"
One message after another, from the guild channel to private messages, Jili Jiadao finally couldn't be slow any longer. He sent a "Kill" message and lunged at Yang Kai.
"Damn, is this for real?" Yang Kai was probably too into the role, not thinking that his side was enjoying the upper hand too much, and this had broken the balance. Now they could only use battle to digest it.
"Kill!!!" From inside the tavern to outside the tavern, the players of the two guilds instantly became a团 (tuán - a mass, a ball), resentment that had been accumulating for a long time was released everywhere in the streets and alleys...
"To think it would be like this..." Comrade Wu Ye, who had personally come to guide the rumor work, happened to run into this scene of city-wide PK while inspecting the main city.
"Isn't this exactly what we wanted?" Comrade Yongyuan said with a smile, who accompanied the inspection.
Wu Ye paused.
"The goal is the same, right?" Yongyuan said.
"Will all thirty main cities be like this?" Wu Ye asked, stunned.
"That depends on the strength of the rumors and the guild relationships in the main cities. Like these two here, I made a point of understanding them just now. They've been at each other's throats for a long time, but they haven't fought much. Obviously, they're missing a fuse that can anger the entire guild. Now they finally have one, and when it's lit, this is what you see," Yongyuan said.
"Is it possible for this to become a city-wide battle?" Wu Ye asked.
"That depends on the background relationships of the two guilds," Yongyuan said.
"Did you look?"
"I looked."
"How is it?"
"If it were normal, I would say it definitely would, but now that the efficiency leveling method is waiting for them, it's hard to say," Yongyuan said.
"If the fighting can break out in all thirty main cities this time... no, not all thirty, fifteen would be enough, then this clearing could very well be realized!" Wu Ye said, calculating.
"Then congratulations," Yongyuan said faintly.
