Chapter 321 Agreement

Chapter 321: Chapter 321 Agreement

"The inter empire secondary carrier conference is a conference held every 200 years across several empires in the universe," Rin continued.

"High tier civilisations hold their own at their specified times, mid tier civilisations hold theirs at their specified times, and low tier civilisations also hold theirs at their specified times.

The low tier civilisations are holding ours come 1 year from now. The Astral Empire lost to the Tian Xu Empire in a landslide 200 years ago, due to their terrifying participants.

Honestly it’s not just about losing or winning. The Secondary Carrier Alliance of any empire that manages to win in any area—be it runesmithery, alchemy, blacksmithery, mining, healing—will receive otherworldly resources from the Secondary Carrier Alliance headquarters of the low tier civilisations to boost the Secondary Carrier Alliance of their empire, ultimately leading to the further rise of the winning Empire’s Secondary Carrier Alliance as they leave the other Empires in the dust.

For instance, the Tian Xu Empire’s win in the runesmithery and alchemy competitions two hundred years ago has led them to produce terrifying geniuses from the resources they were able to procure from their win."

Rin sighed, remembering the whole thing left a bad taste in his mouth. He had been one of the participants who represented the Astral Empire at the time for the runesmith competition, yet they lost miserably.

"I think that sums it up for what is at stake for the empire if we do not secure a win here. Our Secondary Carrier Alliance will be left in the dust, which will mean our economy in one way or another will crumble. We haven’t even analysed the effect on the cultivation of the citizens of the empire," Old Ha added with a serious expression on his face.

Kailen understood Old Ha’s words. For instance, if the Astral Empire lost in the alchemy competition of the conference, they’d be unable to secure high end alchemical ingredients/resources and funds to make high quality alchemical products, and that would affect the cultivation of the awakeners of the empire, which in turn would cause their combat prowess to dwindle.

The same applied for losing in runesmithery and other secondary carrier professions.

The conference was not just a competition to see which empire had better geniuses, it was literally an opportunity for the participants to contribute to the rise of their empire or its fall.

The stakes were extremely high!

As for whether or not he wanted to represent the empire in the upcoming conference, although Kailen didn’t see himself to be some selfless individual, he was now responsible for Earth.

Earth was part of the Astral Empire, and if he sat back and did nothing, when he could have done something to help the empire to win and secure high end resources to improve the empire’s conditions—which would ultimately affect the earthlings—he would probably regret it for a very long time.

Plus, he could make use of the opportunity to make astounding contributions to the empire, and that would draw the attention of the royal family to him and help him secure their backing. That way, dealing with the Darkhaven Clan wouldn’t be too much of an issue.

But there was one thing Kailen wanted to bargain for.

Kailen turned to Old Ha and Rin, who were both eagerly awaiting the decision of the young man who seemed to be in deep thought for a moment.

"What’s in it for the planet of a participant who makes extremely high level contributions and even helps to secure a win in at least one of the profession competitions, old man?"

Old Ha nodded. He expected this. This grand disciple of his cared about his home planet very well. He had considered all this before he came here, and had spoken about this initially with the other higher ups of the Alchemy Association.

He replied Kailen.

"Don’t worry, the Alchemy Association will provide your home planet with high level alchemical ingredients if you help us secure a win in that area. Also, various potion masters on your planet interested in alchemy, yet having no way to support themselves, will receive the tutelage of several prestigious alchemists in the empire.

I understand that you are personally a skilled alchemist with quite an unmatched purity level, but even you can’t be at every place at the same time to teach them alchemy, right?"

Old Ha hit the nail right on the head. Kailen nodded in agreement.

"Inasmuch as I am currently in this low tier civilisation, I have too much on my plate to make time for grooming alchemists and what not," Kailen mused inwardly. "If the earthlings have several alchemists studying under high ranked alchemists in the empire, it will raise the prestige and grounding of the planet. Also, it will give several individuals the chance to rely on themselves and make a name for themselves in the universe."

"I agree to represent the Alchemy Association in the upcoming conference, old man."

Kailen’s response sent Old Ha laughing boisterously.

"Excellent decision. As expected of my grand disciple. Thank you very much, kid."

Kailen chuckled lightly with a sincere smile.

"Don’t worry, old man. You’ve done a lot for me since I came to the empire. Apart from my personal reasons for doing this, consider this decision in one way or the other my personal way of saying thank you for everything."

Kailen was being honest. Apart from the personal considerations he had made right now before he made the decision to participate in the competition on behalf of the empire, he considered this as also a way to repay Old Ha for everything, although he still had another surprise planned for the old man.

Old Ha was more pleased with Kailen’s words.

"Good, good! Haha." He slapped Kailen’s back boisterously.

"If there’s one thing that hopeless disciple of mine did right, it was taking you in as his disciple!"

Rin stared at the duo with an expression of realization on his face. He mused inwardly.

"Kailen Darkhaven. It seems as equally as he’s ruthless to those who make him their enemy, he’s equally generous and kind to his benefactors. The rumors make him out to be a cold, merciless and daring person, but he’s more humane than I thought.

He didn’t even ask of any benefits for himself, but what benefits his home planet will enjoy. Also, the sincerity in his voice when he spoke to the old man right now, there’s no doubt about it. This guy is someone who delineates clearly between allies and enemies. Those who cross him are doomed, those who are good to him, he will be good to them. At least, unlike my stupid sister, I didn’t get on his bad side."

Rin snapped out of his thoughts with a determined expression.

"We are more than willing to grant you the same treatment if you secure a win for the Runesmith Association too, young sir."

Kailen nodded. He had naturally expected this. Old Ha had made it easy for Rin to figure out what Kailen wanted and how to convince him to participate in the conference.

If he didn’t use the same approach to get him to participate on behalf of the Runesmith Association, he’d be very stupid.

As for if he lost the competition, Kailen didn’t even consider it a possibility. Therefore he didn’t even ask about the benefits for losing—although he knew that the empire would probably reward him for his contribution, but it wouldn’t be anywhere near the benefits one would receive for securing a win.

To Kailen, as long as he had decided to participate in the conference, he would leave all the geniuses of the other empires in the dust!

"One year, right?" he mused as a glint of determination flashed through his eyes.
