Chapter 282: Defection

Chapter 282: Chapter 282: Defection

Mrs. Wang laughed and said, "Don’t worry, I think she just misses you! Who wouldn’t want their husband by their side during pregnancy? But you can’t take care of her. I’ll persuade her later, don’t worry."

"Okay then." Wang Hu said a few more words before hanging up the phone.

He thought to himself, does Bai Fanglan really miss me?

He actually has no feelings for Bai Fanglan, but now she’s carrying his child, and she’s become so fragile. He should take care of her.

As he walked out, he saw Yao DianDian talking and laughing with a friend, both holding a book in their hands, presumably heading to the library.

Yao DianDian merely nodded slightly when she saw Wang Hu, but the friend beside her chatted quite a bit with Wang Hu. Yao DianDian pulled the person next to her and walked straight ahead.

"Why are you so indifferent to him?" Her companion had a round face and looked very innocent.

Yao DianDian said, "We’re not familiar with him. What’s there to say?"

"No, I thought you two seemed quite familiar before..."

"We’re not familiar at all. You misunderstood."

Yao DianDian smiled and changed the topic. Ever since she had forcefully kissed Wang Hu that last time, she hadn’t spoken to him, acting like she didn’t know him, with an exceptionally cold attitude.

Wang Hu felt a bit uncomfortable, a very chaotic feeling he’d never experienced before. He used to secretly think to himself that maybe he had developed some special feelings for her, often lost in thought when trying to sleep.

But now he thought he should quickly extinguish this notion since they’re going to have a child.

Time, after all, is the best remedy for forgetting everything.

Once his studies are over, he can leave Yao DianDian.

As Wang Hu watched Yao DianDian’s back, countless thoughts flashed through his mind, but his expression remained indifferent, concealing his true thoughts from everyone.

Likewise, Yao DianDian maintained her usual calm, but internally, it felt like two little voices were fighting.

One said: He’s already married and having a child; why are you getting involved? Stop it.

The other said: He doesn’t love his wife, you should keep trying. But who knows how long you’ll have to wait? Yao DianDian shook her head, feeling increasingly chaotic inside.

Wang Hu and Yao DianDian didn’t contact each other at all, but both felt very awkward inside. Neither knew the other’s thoughts, leaving Yao DianDian feeling helpless and bitter, while Wang Hu was slightly more rational but equally embarrassed.

Ever since Yuan Bing last saw Bai Fanglan, he often lingered around where he might run into her but didn’t succeed. Eventually, he went to her workplace hospital to inquire. He was told Bai Fanglan took unpaid leave to go to Beijing to find her husband.

Yuan Bing’s heart stirred, what a clever woman! She actually ran away!

The person asked, "May I ask who you are?"

"It’s nothing, I’m just a friend. I’ll talk to her when she gets back." Yuan Bing had to leave for now. He certainly didn’t dare to approach her relatives or in-laws for money; it was like poking a hornet’s nest, risky for both sides. Bai Fanglan feared he would spill everything, ruining her life, and if Yuan Bing dared to tell others, he’d end up in jail. So he could only find her in person.

But inconveniently, she wasn’t around. Yuan Bing cursed angrily, "Damn! I should’ve followed her, damn it!"

Now that things reached this point, he could only leave for now. He refused to believe she wouldn’t come back forever. Once she’s back, he could track her down to get the money!

Even Bai Fanglan’s in-laws didn’t know about her departure until she was about to board the train and called to inform them she was going to find Wang Hu.

Mrs. Wang was immediately anxious, rising from the sofa, "What are you doing? Traveling so far to Beijing? You still have a child now. What if something happens to the child?"

"Sorry, Mom, I just miss Wang Hu so much. I’ll apologize to you later. I’m leaving now." Bai Fanglan hung up after speaking, then looked around cautiously, afraid to run into someone, and boarded the train like a mouse.

Mrs. Wang was so angry she slammed the phone down, "What kind of daughter-in-law is this! Deliberately making us worry and angry!"

Father Wang tried to calm her down, "Let it go. The young couple just got married and are separated; who wouldn’t want to be together every day? What’s the point of being so angry?"

"What do you know!" Mrs. Wang exclaimed furiously, "If things were fine, would I oppose her going? Last time I did a check-up with her, specially consulting a traditional Chinese doctor. The doctor said she’s overthinking, and her fetal position is unstable! This is no way to treat a child! The first three months are the most unstable! What if there’s a miscarriage? We’ve already lost one child!"

Father Wang was also worried, as the young woman was indeed too impulsive, but he didn’t want the in-law relationship to worsen, so he tried to mediate.

Mrs. Wang was fuming, stood up, and said, "Forget it! I’m not dealing with this. You inform our son, but let me be clear: if Bai Fanglan loses this child, she only has herself to blame. Everyone will hold her accountable for the consequences!" She brushed off her sleeves and left after speaking.

Father Wang sighed and could only pick up the phone.

Wang Hu felt a little speechless after hearing everything, still he said, "Alright, I’ll take good care of her. Mom and Dad, you don’t need to worry."

"Talk to her properly, your mom means if this child is lost, she might insist on you getting a divorce. I don’t want your marriage to fall apart, but Bai Fanglan is indeed too immature."

Wang Hu stayed silent for a moment, then said, "I’ll take good care of her. I guarantee the child won’t suffer any harm."

Bai Fanglan wasn’t aware her in-laws were so upset, but she wasn’t feeling well on the train either.

All the way, she was on edge, thinking Yuan Bing might be stalking her, afraid to go anywhere besides the restroom, worried that person might find her. Even eating was difficult. She was sweating all over, feeling dreadful, not even daring to take medicine, just lying there and enduring it.

After such an ordeal, by the time she arrived in Beijing, her stomach started to cramp painfully. She was anxious, fearing for the child’s safety. She had undergone gynecological examinations, knowing that if she couldn’t keep this child, it would likely lead to habitual miscarriages, and she’d never be a mother. So, Bai Fanglan was determined to keep this child!

As she held onto the handrail and got off the train, she saw Wang Hu searching everywhere for her and felt warmth in her heart as she walked towards him.

Seeing Bai Fanglan looking so pale and haggard, Wang Hu couldn’t utter any words of reproach.

"Why are you so disobedient, coming here to find me?"

"I miss you!" She hugged Wang Hu tightly, sobbing, feeling both wronged and sad.

Wang Hu gently patted her back, "Alright, I’ll take you to the hospital first."

"Alright, I’m sorry for causing you trouble." Bai Fanglan wiped her tears away.
