Tian Nan Lan

Chapter 773 A Guilty Conscience

Feng Feng was still engrossed in her work, oblivious to Li Wen's expression. She returned to her desk, opened her computer, and began working on a new proposal. Due to the tight deadline, she didn't even have time to eat lunch.

When Feng Feng had urgent work, she was usually in this state, forgetting to eat or sleep. No one dared to disturb her. Her colleagues knew her work ethic and didn't foolishly approach her. Thus, she remained busy for nearly an hour.

Around 1:30 PM, Feng Feng clicked the mouse to save the proposal. Suddenly, a salad with rice and a cup of coffee appeared beside her. She looked closely and recognized the place she often ordered from when she traveled.

Feng Feng looked up to see who had brought the food—

Other colleagues were still in the office. Shen Su, under everyone's gaze, said with a smile, "You've worked hard, President Feng. Please have something to eat first."

Perhaps it was a guilty conscience, but Feng Feng didn't dare to look at her colleagues' reactions. However, she maintained her composure, nodded, and said to Shen Su, "Thank you, President Shen."

This scene was witnessed by Li Wen, who had returned from his lunch break. He wasn't usually one for gossip, but the ambiguous relationship between Feng Feng and Shen Su was too intriguing to ignore. Li Wen observed silently, not discussing it with other colleagues.

Shen Su's request for the proposal was urgent, so Feng Feng's decision to stay and work overtime that evening was inevitable. At 9 PM, her colleagues gradually left. Feng Feng was still at her desk, burning the midnight oil. The PPT still had one-third of the finishing touches, work that couldn't possibly be completed in one day, yet she had managed to finish most of it.

By the time Feng Feng finished her work, it was past midnight. She saved the file, stood up, and rubbed her shoulders and neck. She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window with a glass of water. It was late at night, and the nearby office buildings were still brightly lit.

Feng Feng was lost in thought until a hand landed on her shoulder. She suddenly snapped back to reality and turned to meet Shen Su's eyes. "You startled me. Why haven't you gone home yet?"

Shen Su smiled and retorted, "With President Feng working through the night here, how could I bear to leave?"

Feng Feng didn't engage with his flirtatious remark. In the office, she was still in work mode. "The PPT is done and sent to your email. Remember to give me your feedback tomorrow. If there are no issues, notify them to proceed."

Shen Su nodded, his gaze fixed on Feng Feng's face without moving. Although she still exuded a powerful aura, there was a hint of fatigue in her eyes. Shen Su raised his hand and gently covered her eyelids with his fingers. "Are you tired? Do you blame me for making things difficult for you?"

Feng Feng brushed his hand away, her tone indifferent. "Work is work. There's no need for that. Besides, you aren't making things difficult for me."

In her years at the firm, she had encountered her fair share of peculiar clients. Even from a collaborator's perspective, Shen Su was perfect. Jin He's industry status was undeniable, and countless firms wanted to cooperate with them. Yet, Shen Su displayed no arrogance or condescension. During meetings, everyone discussed and deliberated.

Especially after encountering difficult clients in the past, Feng Feng found people like Shen Su to be rare.

After hearing Feng Feng's words, Shen Su directly put his arm around her shoulders. "Shall we go downstairs for some late-night food together?"

Feng Feng nodded. She hadn't eaten dinner and was feeling a bit hungry.

Shen Su waited for Feng Feng to pack her things, and then they walked out of the office area together. Many nearby restaurants were open twenty-four hours, likely to accommodate the work rhythm of the area. Feng Feng and Shen Su found a Korean restaurant and sat down. It was early January, and the temperature in New York was very low, exacerbated by the wind, making it feel even colder. The moment she sipped the kimchi tofu soup, Feng Feng felt warmth spread from her head to her toes.

The restaurant was sparsely populated at this hour. The environment wasn't particularly great. Feng Feng and Shen Su sat by the window, where they could see people hurrying by. After Feng Feng stared outside for a few minutes, Shen Su asked her, "What are you thinking about? You seem so absorbed."

Feng Feng came back to her senses and said, "I was thinking that New York isn't suitable for me. Fortunately, I didn't come here back then."

Shen Su: "Why isn't it suitable?"

Feng Feng: "It's too competitive."

Hearing these words from Feng Feng, Shen Su couldn't help but laugh. "It's truly rare for President Feng, who is so driven, to say it's competitive."

In reality, Nanjiang was also competitive, being the financial center of the country. However, its city vibe was very different from New York. Although Nanjiang was competitive, one could still find areas with a slower pace of life when wanting to relax. But in New York, she felt like she was constantly in a state of tense readiness.

After working overtime until midnight to complete the proposal, Feng Feng's business trip was nearing its end. Her return flight was on the ninth. Jin He left two senior executives behind, while the rest of the team returned to Nanjiang.

Upon returning from the trip, it coincided with the weekend. Feng Feng slept for an entire day at home to adjust to the time difference.

After regaining some energy, Feng Feng arranged to meet Lin Mei and visit Lan Lan's home, bringing along the gifts she had bought for them.

After more than a month, Lan Lan's belly had grown considerably. She was five and a half months pregnant, in her rapid growth phase, and appeared more clumsy than usual. Because her baby was positioned forward, her belly looked much larger than that of women at the same stage of pregnancy. Consequently, Liang Yufeng wished he could stay by her side at all times, and Lan Lan couldn't go out and have fun with them as before.

However, judging by Lan Lan's own attitude, she seemed to be enjoying this state.

Feng Feng looked at Jing Chu, who was playing with car models on the carpet, and then at Lan Lan, who unconsciously touched her belly as she spoke. She suddenly began to wonder if she would be like this if she had children in the future.

After returning from the business trip, the firm entered its busiest period. With only a month left until the New Year, Feng Feng was working almost non-stop lately, rarely getting a break even on weekends. The excessive busyness made her forget many things, including the trip to Southern Europe that she had agreed upon with Shen Su.

It wasn't until Shen Su sent her a WeChat message asking if her Schengen visa had been processed that Feng Feng suddenly remembered the matter. However, at this point, there was only a little over a week left until the Spring Festival.

Feng Feng: [I forgot. I've been too busy lately.]

Shen Su: [Give me your passport, property deed, car registration, bank statements, and passport. I'll find someone to handle it.]

Feng Feng: [When can I give them to you?]

Shen Su: [I'll come to your firm tomorrow. Is that enough time?]

Feng Feng: [Yes, I'll get them ready.]

After chatting with Shen Su, Feng Feng began preparing the items he requested. She followed Shen Su's list and quickly gathered the necessary documents and proofs, saving her from spending extra time researching information and procedures.

Feng Feng once again felt that being with Shen Su was quite hassle-free.

The next morning at ten o'clock, Shen Su arrived at the firm and, under everyone's watchful eyes, walked into Feng Feng's office.

Before entering, Shen Su encountered Li Wen again.
