Chapter 642 The Inferior

Ji Tong was pressed into the mattress by Shen Su, their lips almost touching. "Afraid I'll do something I shouldn't?"

Ji Tong's cheeks flushed, and she swallowed nervously. "I... Mmm."

Before she could finish, Shen Su cupped her chin and kissed her, silencing her words.

Late at night, Feng Feng stood alone by the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, lost in thought.

Ever since returning from the banquet, she had been unable to concentrate on anything. She showered and lay in bed, but sleep eluded her. Her mind kept replaying Shen Su and Ji Tong.

This feeling of losing control was incredibly frustrating. After lying in bed for over an hour, Feng Feng went to the living room.

Only the streetlights illuminated the apartment building. It was the early hours of the morning, and there was no one around. She saw her reflection in the floor-to-ceiling window, her expression grim and troubled. She could hardly believe it was her.

She had never imagined that one day she would lose sleep over Shen Su.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Wen Zhouyuan's voice came from behind her as Feng Feng was lost in thought.

Feng Feng turned to look at him. He was wearing pajamas and had walked over, stopping beside her.

Seeing Feng Feng's expression, Wen Zhouyuan asked, "Are you in a bad mood?"

It seemed she had been like this since they returned that evening. When he tried to talk to her, she couldn't keep up, her mind wandering, lost in her own thoughts.

"A little annoyed, it's nothing major," Feng Feng replied vaguely.

Wen Zhouyuan: "Is it something you can talk about?"

Feng Feng was silent for a moment, then asked him, "If someone who used to like you suddenly likes someone else, and it makes you uncomfortable, is that being cheap?"

Wen Zhouyuan was taken aback by the question. He instinctively thought Feng Feng was referring to him.

Only after asking did Feng Feng realize the implication. She rubbed her temples. "I wasn't referring to you."

However, Wen Zhouyuan's gaze became even more complex. "You've fallen for Shen Su?"

Feng Feng was surprised that Wen Zhouyuan could immediately connect it to Shen Su, but she didn't answer him.

Wen Zhouyuan clenched his fist. "Shen Su has a girlfriend?"

Feng Feng: "Yes, he does."

Wen Zhouyuan: "You're in a bad mood tonight because of this."

It wasn't a question, but a statement.

Even without Feng Feng's confirmation, Wen Zhouyuan had his answer.

Feng Feng didn't reply. She glanced at her phone. "It's two o'clock. You should go back to sleep. I'm going back to my room too."

Wen Zhouyuan wanted to ask more, but Feng Feng had already turned and walked back into her room.

He watched the bedroom door close and sighed deeply.

As the saying goes, "What the mind thinks about by day, the body dreams of by night." Feng Feng finally managed to fall asleep after taking melatonin, only to dream of Shen Su and Ji Tong again.

In her dream, she was attending their wedding, watching them walk down the aisle, exchange rings, and then embrace in a passionate kiss.

When she woke up, her head was spinning, and she felt a tightness in her chest, struggling to catch her breath.

Feng Feng went to the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face. Seeing her haggard reflection in the mirror, she threw the towel she was holding.

Ji Tong woke up in Shen Su's arms that morning. Meeting Shen Su's smiling eyes, Ji Tong's face instantly turned red.

Shen Su lowered his head and kissed her forehead, his actions and voice gentle. "Good morning."

Ji Tong softly replied, "Good morning."

Shen Su: "I've ordered breakfast. Let's eat after you wash up."

Ji Tong: "Okay."

Ji Tong hadn't fully recovered from the previous night's events. As she sat opposite Shen Su for breakfast, her mind kept wandering back to the previous night, her face quickly flushing.

Shen Su saw through her at a glance. "Still thinking about last night?"

"Cough, cough, cough..." Ji Tong choked.

Shen Su chuckled. "Alright, I won't tease you anymore. Let's eat."

Ji Tong obediently ate her meal quietly.

Shen Su pondered for a moment, then suddenly asked her, "Can you make time to come back with me to meet my parents?"

Ji Tong became even more nervous, nearly dropping her bun onto the plate.

Shen Su: "Don't worry, it's just a meeting. My parents aren't as scary as you think."

Despite his words, Ji Tong was still anxious. "But my family is very ordinary... Won't they mind?"

Normally, someone of his background would care a lot about matching social standing.

To be honest, Ji Tong hadn't even dared to think about Shen Su meeting her parents, nor had she dared to hope for marriage with Shen Su.

She had always thought that simply having a good relationship would be enough.

"No, they won't," Shen Su said. "Not everyone needs to marry into wealth or status. Relax, they'll like you very much."

Ji Tong volunteered the information, "My father is an architect, and my mother is a middle school teacher. I'm their only child."

They had been dating for a while, and Shen Su had never asked about Ji Tong's family background. It wasn't that he wasn't curious, but rather that he already had a good idea.

Ji Tong's demeanor suggested she came from a typical middle-class family, and her parents likely doted on her, which explained her pure character.

Ji Tong told Shen Su many childhood stories, and Shen Su listened quietly, not saying much throughout.

After Ji Tong finished, she asked cautiously, "Am I talking too much?"

Shen Su: "No, I like listening."

Shen Su hadn't liked his girlfriends to be too boisterous before. Ji Tong was probably the most lively one he had dated.

She was very girlish and, in private, would always proactively share many things with him, wishing to tell him everything she had experienced.

After talking, she would often regret if she had spoken too much, which was incredibly endearing.

Perhaps because he had been with Feng Feng for two years, and she was too cold, Shen Su suddenly felt that someone like Ji Tong was a better fit for him. Without a desire to share, it was difficult for sparks of love to ignite between two people.

He had given up on Feng Feng and would no longer pursue her.

Shen Su asked Ji Tong, "Do your parents know about us?"

Ji Tong replied with a blush, "I haven't had a chance to tell them yet."

Shen Su: "Oh? Am I that unpresentable?"

Ji Tong: "No, it's just that I haven't figured out how to say it."

After all, their social statuses were quite different, and her parents would likely consider many things. She had thought about it for a long time but couldn't bring herself to say it.

Shen Su, of course, knew what Ji Tong was worried about. "I'll accompany you to visit them another day."

Ji Tong's heart beat a little faster. Judging by Shen Su's words... was he thinking of marrying her?

She wasn't sure if she was understanding him correctly.

Ever since they met at the Jinhe Foundation event that day, Feng Feng had been constantly thinking about Shen Su and Ji Tong.

The cooperation between her firm and Jinhe continued, and when people from Jinhe visited, they occasionally mentioned Shen Su and Ji Tong. From what they said, Shen Su was very attentive to Ji Tong, even accompanying her to the cafeteria for lunch every day.

Some people even said that Shen Su was dating someone from within the company for the first time and was also being this high-profile about their relationship for the first time. It was rumored that he had even taken Ji Tong to meet his parents, and the two were possibly considering marriage.
