Chapter 701 The Neighbor

Whether they had actually dated was unknown, as such things were not easily inquired about.

Along with the information, Li Yue’s files from his two previous relationships were also provided. Gu Song took a look and found that the one he dated for nearly two years was currently pursuing postgraduate studies at Nanjiang University. The company where she was interning… happened to be with a friend of his.

Gu Song held the other person’s file and examined it for a while before immediately contacting that friend.

The friend was the owner of a medium-sized internet finance company. The industry had been impacted in recent years, but he had made a considerable profit by shifting to the medical and biological industries, and his company had become one of the few internet enterprises that survived and developed well.

Li Yue’s ex-girlfriend was named Zhao Shuang. She had majored in undergraduate studies at Kyoto University and pursued a master’s degree in Financial Market Analysis at Nanjiang University, appearing to be a good student.

There was also a rather ambiguous point: Zhao Shuang came to Nanjiang for postgraduate studies, and Li Yue came to Nanjiang for an internship. Given how long they had dated, they must have known each other’s future plans.

Choosing the same city was definitely not a coincidence.

If they had broken up due to practical reasons, then Zhao Shuang might have been Li Yue’s unattainable ideal.

If Li Yue had wronged Zhao Shuang, then it was also fine; at least it would prove that Li Yue was not a good person, allowing Feng Feng to see his true character.

Li Yue had kept all these matters from Shen Su.

Shen Su, who had been seriously ill this time, was finally discharged from the hospital after more than a week.

After his discharge, Shen Su returned to Jinhe to handle his work. This was his first long absence, and despite having an assistant, a considerable amount of work had piled up. He spent two days concentrating on it and finally completed everything.

On Wednesday, someone from the firm came over. The work at the firm had always been personally handled by Shen Su, then passed to Ji Tong. Now that Ji Tong had left, no one else had been assigned.

The assistant asked Shen Su, “Mr. Shen, someone from the firm has arrived. Who do you want to assign this task to from now on?”

Shen Su replied, “Keep it with me for now. Have them come to my office.”

His voice sounded calm, but his mind was in chaos.

A few minutes later, the assistant brought the person in. It wasn’t Feng Feng, but Li Yue.

Li Yue entered with files and nodded slightly at Shen Su, saying, “Mr. Shen.”

Shen Su waved his hand, signaling the assistant to leave. After the assistant was gone, he asked Li Yue, “Why are you here?”

Li Yue replied, “Ms. Feng has a meeting today and temporarily sent me to fill in for her.”

Shen Su smiled faintly. He knew this was an excuse and couldn't possibly believe it.

However, Shen Su didn’t expose him. He invited Li Yue to sit down in the small conference room inside, and they began discussing work.

Li Yue was professional, and Shen Su didn’t make things difficult for him. The work that needed to be handled in the previous period was all concentrated on this day. Therefore, Li Yue spent the entire day at Jinhe, and thankfully, he finished before closing time.

As Li Yue left Shen Su’s office, he received a call from Feng Feng.

“Are you done?” Feng Feng asked.

Li Yue replied, “Just finished. I’m taking a taxi back to find you now.”

Feng Feng said, “I’ll pick you up.”

Li Yue responded, “Alright, I’ll wait for you downstairs.”

While Li Yue was on the phone, Shen Su happened to come out and heard him say, “I’ll wait for you downstairs,” realizing what was happening.

Shen Su walked upstairs with a normal expression. Li Yue had just finished his call, and they exchanged a glance. Shen Su said nothing.

Li Yue was very polite and said goodbye to Shen Su before hurrying to the elevator. Shen Su took the exclusive elevator, and the two parted ways.

Shen Su rode the elevator alone to the underground parking lot. After getting into his car, he hesitated to drive away, sitting alone in the car, lost in thought.

The drive from the firm to Jinhe took about fifteen minutes, a route he had traveled countless times over the years, knowing it by heart.

Li Yue waited for less than twenty minutes before Feng Feng’s car arrived. After Feng Feng made a U-turn, Li Yue got into the car.

Feng Feng said, “Let’s eat out tonight. I won’t cook at home.”

Li Yue replied, “Okay, what do you want to eat?”

Feng Feng said, “I suddenly wanted Japanese food this afternoon.”

Li Yue responded, “I haven’t had it in a long time either.”

So, they readily agreed and headed towards a nearby Japanese restaurant.

As Shen Su drove up, Feng Feng’s car was just pulling out. He followed the familiar license plate from behind, inexplicably drawn to do so.

After following for a while, Shen Su realized this was not the way back to the apartment. Later, when Feng Feng parked in front of a restaurant, it further confirmed his suspicion.

Shen Su maintained a distance. He saw Feng Feng and Li Yue get out of the car one after another. Li Yue naturally took Feng Feng’s hand, and they walked into the restaurant.

Shen Su parked his car and followed them in, only to find that they had chosen a tatami room upstairs.

Shen Su informed the waiter and went upstairs alone. Because the private rooms had an additional charge, and it was a weekday, the upstairs was very quiet, with only Feng Feng and Li Yue’s table. Shen Su heard them and chose the room next to theirs, ordering a few dishes casually.

The restaurant’s soundproofing was never very good, and with no one else around, Shen Su could hear almost every word of the conversation between the two next door.

Feng Feng was discussing the timing of their trip to the United States with Li Yue, saying, “Is your graduation ceremony on July 14th? Will we have enough time to get there by the 9th? I have a meeting to attend on the 8th.”

Li Yue replied, “We’ll have enough time, it’s fine. As long as we get there before the 13th, it’s all good.”

Feng Feng said, “Then I’ll book tickets for the 9th. We’ll fly to California first and stay for a few days. I’ll arrange the hotel.”

Li Yue responded, “Okay.”

Shen Su drank ice water, listening to their harmonious conversation, his expression becoming extremely grim.

Throughout the meal, Feng Feng and Li Yue’s interactions were very pleasant. Shen Su heard Feng Feng’s laughter several times, a side of her he rarely showed him.

Feng Feng felt like having some sake, so Li Yue told her, “You drink. I’ll drive later.”

Afterward, Shen Su heard a commotion, and his hands stiffened.

A minute or two later, he heard Li Yue’s hoarse voice again: “Teasing me here, Ms. Feng, you really like to play with excitement.”

Feng Feng replied, “You seem to like it too.”

Shen Su suddenly clenched his fist. He had slept with Feng Feng for two years and knew very well what her attitude was when she was teasing!

Feng Feng was indeed proactive and passionate in this regard, and they had tried many places. However, hearing her treat another man in the same way was still unacceptable to him.

Later, there was another commotion from the next room. He couldn’t imagine what they were doing and dared not think about it, only hearing Feng Feng’s faint gasps and their conversation.

Li Yue said, “I didn’t bring anything, so let’s leave it at that for now.”

Feng Feng said, “Put more effort into it.”

Li Yue asked, “Will we have to stay and clean up later?”

Shen Su’s face grew darker and darker. His eyes turned red, and the veins on his forearm were about to burst. Based on his experience, he could even imagine Feng Feng’s expression at that moment.

Shen Su suddenly stood up, wanting to rush into the next room and drag them out, but he knew clearly that he had no right to do so. Two forces tore at him, and anger surged. He slammed his fist against the wooden wall.
