Gu Song explained Zhang Shuang's information to Shen Su, and then outlined the "task" he had arranged for Zhang Shuang.
Shen Su's brows furrowed even tighter as he listened to Gu Song's series of actions.
Seeing this, Gu Song said, "Don't think I'm despicable. You're the one trying to poach him. Without some tactics, they won't separate."
Shen Su: "You mean Li Yue is still in contact with his ex-girlfriend?"
Gu Song: "Not only is he in contact, but Li Yue personally took her to the hospital when she was injured and admitted, even paid for her medical expenses, and found a caregiver."
Shen Su picked up his cup and took a sip of water, his gaze murky and unreadable.
Gu Song: "If there were no lingering feelings, he wouldn't do so much. As long as he can still meet Zhang Shuang, you have a chance."
Shen Su remained silent, his fingers gripping the cup tightly.
Gu Song suddenly remembered something, "Oh, right, this Zhang Shuang looks a bit like Feng Feng."
Gu Song found Zhang Shuang's headshot on his phone and showed it to Shen Su.
Shen Su leaned down to look. The person in the photo was wearing a dark suit jacket, had long black hair, and a bland expression, clearly the quiet type.
At first glance, she did resemble Feng Feng—
More accurately, she resembled her during her student days.
But it was only at first glance. After staring for a few seconds, one would realize their temperaments were completely different. Feng Feng's cool detachment stemmed from her composure and confidence, and her indifference to external feedback. Zhang Shuang was clearly not like that; she seemed somewhat timid, and it was evident she had strong self-esteem.
People with strong self-esteem are often not very confident. Combined with Gu Song's mention of her ordinary family background, it further supported this point.
Seeing Shen Su staring at the photo for so long, Gu Song asked, "Does she look quite similar?"
Shen Su finally withdrew his gaze, "No."
Gu Song: "That's fine too. If you say she doesn't look like it, then she doesn't. That's not the main point; as long as she can do things for you."
Shen Su: "Does Feng Feng know about her?"
Gu Song: "Yes, but it seems she hasn't reacted much so far."
Shen Su smiled, not surprised. This was very much in line with Feng Feng's character.
She could tolerate it when Wen Zhouyuan got married and had children; what was a mere ex-girlfriend now?
However, while Feng Feng could tolerate it, could Li Yue?
Even the most mature man would find it difficult to remain rational when seeing the other party "indifferent," just like he himself had been.
Under Gu Song's gaze, Shen Su pondered for a long time before saying, "Let's do as you said."
Gu Song breathed a sigh of relief and showed a pleased expression, "You've finally thought it through. It wasn't a waste of my effort to plan all this for you."
"With Feng Feng's temper, if Li Yue shows up a few more times, she won't be able to tolerate it. Let's get them separated first, otherwise, you won't have a chance."
Although they reached an agreement, Gu Song's idea and Shen Su's idea were diametrically opposed.
Gu Song was betting that Feng Feng would break up with Li Yue because she couldn't stand his entanglement with his ex. Shen Su, on the other hand, believed that Li Yue would doubt himself due to Feng Feng's "generosity," creating a rift between them.
However, regardless of which point was correct, it was certain that Zhang Shuang's existence would cause some problems between the two. Even if there weren't any now, there would be in the future.
Feng Feng accompanied Li Yue back for his graduation ceremony, which took a total of eight days. Upon their return, Feng Feng brought gifts for Lin Mei and Lan Lan.
It had been a while since the three of them had seen each other. Lan Lan organized a gathering, and Feng Feng arrived at the Ru Feng Club as planned, carrying gifts for them.
As she went upstairs, Feng Feng was fiddling with her phone and accidentally bumped into someone. She said "Excuse me" and looked up, only to realize the person in front of her was Shen Su.
The encounter was so sudden that even though Feng Feng had seen her fair share of the world, she couldn't speak immediately.
Shen Su, however, was much more composed. "Are you here to meet with Lin Mei and Lan Lan?"
Feng Feng: "Yes."
Shen Su: "I see they've already gone up."
Feng Feng: "Yes, I'll go up then."
Shen Su nodded slightly, politely making way for her. Feng Feng calmly walked past him.
As she left, Shen Su caught the scent of her perfume. The familiar scent entered his nostrils, bringing with it past intertwined memories, rushing straight into his mind.
This scent seemed to have her imprint on it, becoming a symbol that awakened his desires.
Shen Su's fingers gripped the stair railing, his breathing suppressed, a flame spreading in his chest, burning downwards.
Feng Feng arrived at the private room with the gifts and met Lin Mei and Lan Lan.
As soon as they sat down, the two began asking her if she and Li Yue had a good time. Feng Feng never hid anything from them, "It was okay, quite relaxing."
Lan Lan teased, "Dating a young man is so happy, I'm starting to miss it."
Lin Mei: "Would you dare say that to Liang Yufeng's face?"
Feng Feng followed Lin Mei's lead and teased, "Then the young stud Lan always has her eye on might be driven to the brink of collapse by Mr. Liang."
"For everyone's mental and physical well-being, you should probably abandon that idea." Feng Feng took a sip of juice, her expression indifferent.
"So marriage is really a trap. Why did I get a license with him on impulse back then?" Lan Lan's tone sounded somewhat regretful.
However, Feng Feng and Lin Mei both knew she was joking. Given her feelings for Liang Yufeng, how could she regret it, or how could she look for a younger man?
"Hey, why didn't Li Yue come with you today?" Lan Lan suddenly remembered this question halfway through the meal.
Feng Feng: "What business does he have crashing a gathering of three women?"
Lin Mei: "Did his graduation go smoothly? Will he be staying at your institute from now on?"
Feng Feng: "Probably. The leadership really wants to keep him, it depends on his own thoughts."
Lin Mei: "With you around, he'll definitely stay."
Lan Lan: "Not necessarily."
"If he can get better opportunities, he won't stay at the institute forever. Li Yue is quite ambitious." Although they hadn't interacted much, Lan Lan had a good grasp of Li Yue.
This thought coincided with Feng Feng's. Although she hadn't discussed their future path with Li Yue, she didn't believe Li Yue would give up better opportunities for her.
At this point, Lan Lan asked, "Does he have any offers?"
Feng Feng: "I haven't heard him mention any yet. Maybe he'll transition at the institute for a while."
Lan Lan: "Do you want him to change jobs?"
Feng Feng: "That's his business. I don't get involved."
Upon hearing this answer, Lan Lan turned and exchanged a look with Lin Mei.
They both understood the meaning behind that statement.
Feng Feng had not yet considered a "future" with Li Yue, nor did she intend to interfere with his career choices.
This approach of hers had its advantages, but it might also make Li Yue feel that she was not invested in his future.
Lin Mei deliberated for a moment and tentatively asked, "Have you considered settling down with Li Yue?"
Feng Feng paused her juice-drinking action, "Not yet."
Lan Lan: "Then what if Li Yue proposes marriage?"
Feng Feng: "...He probably won't propose that soon."
