Feng Feng made her decision, leaving no room for the other party to accept or salvage the situation.
Shen Su shook his head. "It's a bit sudden."
Gu Song: "She's so smart. When Li Yue submitted his resume, she already knew. Just a young kid, all talk and no action."
Gu Song poured Shen Su a glass of wine, beaming with joy. "You should be happy. With her breakup, your chance has arrived."
Shen Su picked up his wine glass and clinked it with Gu Song's.
Undoubtedly, Feng Feng's breakup with Li Yue was fantastic news for Shen Su. However, this didn't mean he could immediately express his feelings to Feng Feng. Having just broken up, she likely had no thoughts of starting a new relationship.
This time, his goal wasn't just to date her, but to marry her. This was a trial of hellish difficulty, and he absolutely couldn't be hasty or impulsive, or all his previous efforts would be in vain.
Shen Su pondered for a long time and ultimately decided to bide his time, observing Feng Feng's state after the breakup.
Feng Feng's business trip kept her in New York for a week. Upon her return, she took a day off before heading back to the firm to resume her work.
On her first day back, she happened to encounter Shen Su at a meeting. The work previously handled by Ji Tong had been taken back by Shen Su, and he had been personally managing it ever since, without delegating it.
Feng Feng met Shen Su in the conference room. Upon seeing him, her gaze lingered on him for nearly half a minute.
Feng Feng was unfamiliar with the art of pursuing a man. She had liked Wen Zhouyuan, but at the time, it was a one-sided affection, and she had never actively pursued him. Lan Lan had previously advised her to play hard to get, a tactic she found somewhat clumsy to employ.
The look Feng Feng cast his way was no different from her usual expression, yet to Shen Su, it felt as though her gaze carried hooks.
When she sat on him, she always had a similar expression. Shen Su, stared at for a long time, felt a fire burning within him.
Shen Su forcefully suppressed the urge and asked with a smile, "Is there something on my face?"
His question made Feng Feng realize she had indeed been staring at him for too long. She calmly withdrew her gaze. "No, let's begin."
Feng Feng quickly detached herself from personal emotions and entered a work state. She picked up her pen, opened her laptop, and began conversing with Shen Su.
Shen Su listened attentively, but he couldn't help but notice her small gestures, such as her casually tucking her hair behind her ear, adjusting her collar, or even taking a sip of water. Every detail held a fatal attraction for him.
Shen Su was not a man of ascetic habits. He had experienced many relationships before, and never had such a long period of celibacy. Feng Feng, on the other hand, possessed a natural allure for him. Even if she just sat there, she was enough to stir his desires.
After discussing work for the entire morning, as it was nearing lunchtime, Shen Su's throat felt dry. He drank half a glass of water and, looking at Feng Feng organizing her laptop and files, casually asked, "Would you like to have lunch together? You worked hard this morning."
The latter part was an excuse to invite her to lunch.
Such situations were common in their firm, so Shen Su's invitation wouldn't arouse suspicion.
Upon hearing this, Feng Feng's actions of packing up paused noticeably, but she didn't immediately respond. As her silence stretched, Shen Su's uncertainty grew.
Just as he thought Feng Feng would refuse, she suddenly said, "How about tonight?"
Shen Su didn't even react at first. Then he heard Feng Feng add, "If you have time tonight, we can have dinner together."
Shen Su: "You've asked, so of course I have time. Where should we go?"
Feng Feng: "You choose."
Shen Su: "How about that place you used to like?"
Feng Feng: "Mm."
Shen Su: "Okay, then I'll see you after work."
Feng Feng hummed in agreement, then gathered her things and left the conference room. Shen Su watched her leave, a slight smile curling his lips.
After returning to her desk, Feng Feng's heart was beating a little fast. Realizing she was nervous, Feng Feng found it incredible. How many years had it been since she felt nervous? Now, just for a meal with a man, her heart was racing at 120 beats per minute.
If she told anyone, she'd probably be laughed to death.
Currently, Feng Feng was unsure of Shen Su's feelings towards her. Agreeing to have dinner together didn't seem particularly significant; he was always like this with his friends.
Therefore, her next move would depend on his attitude tonight.
During lunch break, Feng Feng shared the news in the group chat, and Lin Mei and Lan Lan immediately chimed in with their advice.
Lin Mei's approach was more conservative. She believed Feng Feng should first interact with Shen Su as a friend before revealing her feelings, which would make her intentions more believable.
After all, having just broken up, if she suddenly confessed her feelings, Shen Su might not believe her and might even think she was using him as a rebound.
Lan Lan's idea, however, was much more aggressive. She suggested Feng Feng should go for it directly and sleep with him first. She didn't believe Shen Su could resist Feng Feng's advances.
Reading Lan Lan's message, Feng Feng couldn't help but recall the time she coincidentally met Shen Su in the corridor of the restroom at the annual party and his reaction upon seeing her...
And the previous time, when he saw the hickey on her.
Others might not know, but Feng Feng, as the person involved, knew better than anyone how captivated Shen Su was by her body.
During the time they maintained their relationship, Shen Su would spend almost every weekend at her apartment, unwilling to waste a moment.
But Feng Feng was also acutely aware that such infatuation couldn't be equated with love, and keeping someone through such means wouldn't work.
So, she decided to wait and see Shen Su's attitude tonight before making a decision.
Seducing men... it truly wasn't her forte.
At six-thirty, Feng Feng arrived at the restaurant and met Shen Su. Shen Su had arrived earlier. As Feng Feng entered the restaurant, Shen Su was already seated at a window booth, waving at her.
Feng Feng walked over with her bag and sat opposite him. "I'm late."
Shen Su smiled and shook his head. "It's alright, I just got here too."
As he spoke, he pushed the menu towards Feng Feng. "I've already ordered your usual favorites. Take a look and see if there's anything else you'd like to add."
Feng Feng: "No need, this is fine."
Shen Su: "Okay."
He waved to call a waiter. While waiting for the food to arrive, Feng Feng wanted to initiate a conversation with Shen Su, but she found herself unsure of what to talk about.
She wasn't incapable of making polite small talk in a professional setting, but with Shen Su across from her, it became difficult.
Her feelings towards him had changed, so she naturally couldn't utter any flattering words.
Thus, Feng Feng began to look down at her phone.
It wasn't until the food was served that Shen Su broke the silence. "Hurry up and start eating, stop playing with your phone."
