As she reached the door, her hand raised, not yet touching the panel, when the door suddenly opened. A scent of lime and mint wafted towards her. Lin Jingchu had just finished showering, his hair still damp. He wore an ordinary black t-shirt and sweatpants, yet exuded a sexiness she hadn't seen before.
Beneath the loose t-shirt, the lines of his muscles were faintly visible. Jiang Yuekai was momentarily lost in thought, her lips parted, but she forgot what she was going to say.
Lin Jingchu's ears turned red uncontrollably. He touched his nose, "Is the delivery here?"
"Ah, yes, yes, yes." Jiang Yuekai found her voice, "Why did you take so long in the shower?"
Lin Jingchu cleared his throat and answered a question she hadn't asked, "Then let's eat. Are we having coffee today?"
Jiang Yuekai said, "Yes, an Americano is fine."
They went to the kitchen together. Jiang Yuekai sat down, and Lin Jingchu went to the coffee machine to make her an Americano.
While eating breakfast, Jiang Yuekai suddenly remembered, "I fell asleep at your place last night?"
Lin Jingchu replied, "Mm, perhaps you were tired from playing with Latte."
Jiang Yuekai remembered falling asleep on the sofa, but when she woke up, she was in the guest room. "Did you carry me over? I didn't even wake up."
Lin Jingchu didn't tell her that she hadn't woken up because he had carried her over, not helped her.
As Lin Jingchu raised his cup to drink coffee, Jiang Yuekai noticed his hands again. His fingers were long, with distinct knuckles, and the veins on the back of his hands were clearly visible, looking very strong.
Why had she never noticed before that Lin Jingchu's hands were so beautiful?
Jiang Yuekai bit into a fried dough stick and began to seriously consider the question An Zhou had posed. Her feelings towards Lin Jingchu were indeed different from before. Even if she hadn't fallen in love with him, she was at least a little smitten. What about Lin Jingchu? Did he have similar feelings for her?
Although Lin Jingchu had always been good to her, he had never explicitly said he liked her. They had a "childhood betrothal," but Lin Jingchu had never brought it up.
If Lin Jingchu liked her, it was unlikely he would have stood by and watched her date Gu Jiang before, right?
Jiang Yuekai wasn't lacking in confidence; she just wanted to understand the situation. Once she figured out Lin Jingchu's thoughts, she could make a move. Perhaps she could try to test him next?
This matter, however, stumped Jiang Yuekai. She was smart, but having only dated once, she was completely inexperienced in matters of relationships, especially when it came to subtle maneuvering and games, which were a blind spot in her knowledge.
Thus, during the meal, Jiang Yuekai was lost in thought, not saying much to Lin Jingchu the entire time.
After the meal, Jiang Yuekai returned to her apartment and started chatting with An Zhou on WeChat. When An Zhou learned that Jiang Yuekai had spent the night at Lin Jingchu's place, she immediately became excited and asked a lot of questions.
Jiang Yuekai had no choice but to explain helplessly, "I was playing with the dog and fell asleep. He took me to the guest room. We didn't do anything."
An Zhou didn't believe her, "You fell asleep, how did he 'take' you? He must have carried you back, right?"
Jiang Yuekai said, "That's not the point. Help me figure something out first."
She sought out An Zhou mainly to discuss how to test Lin Jingchu.
Although An Zhou knew Lin Jingchu liked Jiang Yuekai, she had never seen him confess. He could really hold back... he needed a little provocation.
An Zhou gave Jiang Yuekai a suggestion, "Isn't this simple? You confess to him, and you two will be together."
Jiang Yuekai didn't believe it, "I don't think he likes me?"
An Zhou: "He's so good to you, and you still don't think so?" Is being good to someone the same as liking them?
Jiang Yuekai thought about it carefully. If she compared Lin Jingchu's attitude towards her with his attitude towards other girls, he was indeed very good and very special to her. It was just that she had always felt this specialness was due to the relationship they had built since childhood.
Over the weekend, Jiang Yuekai seriously considered the matter and decided to first try to gauge Lin Jingchu's thoughts.
On Monday, Lin Jingchu had something to do at the Math Club, so he went to school with Jiang Yuekai. On the way, Lin Jingchu received a call from Xu Yiran.
Although he had rejected Xu Yiran back then, they were still in the same club, and contact was unavoidable. Xu Yiran hadn't brought up those matters later, so Lin Jingchu hadn't deleted her contact information.
Jiang Yuekai heard Xu Yiran's voice and her ears immediately perked up. Fortunately, they were discussing work matters.
Jiang Yuekai had played with Xu Yiran for a while, but they hadn't kept in touch much since then. However, she could recognize her voice. Moreover, Xu Yiran was a well-known figure in their college. She seemed to recall someone saying that Xu Yiran and Lin Jingchu were a good match.
With this thought, Jiang Yuekai subconsciously looked at Lin Jingchu beside her. They didn't look that much of a match, did they?
Her thoughts manifested in her words. She spoke very softly, and Lin Jingchu didn't hear her clearly, "Hm?"
"Nothing, I was talking to myself," Jiang Yuekai denied.
When they got out of the car, Jiang Yuekai asked Lin Jingchu, "How long will you be at school today?"
Lin Jingchu replied, "Probably until evening."
Jiang Yuekai said, "Mm." She had no classes in the afternoon, so she could go to the Math Club to see him then. To surprise Lin Jingchu, Jiang Yuekai didn't tell him about this. In fact, when classes ended in the morning, she even messaged him on WeChat saying she was going home first.
After lunch, Jiang Yuekai went to the Math Club's usual hangout. When she arrived, they were just serving food, and Xu Yiran was in charge.
Jiang Yuekai heard someone teasing Xu Yiran, "Hey, why did you give the bigger portion to Jingchu? You're too biased!"
Immediately, someone else chimed in, "Isn't Yiran biased towards Jingchu every day? I'm used to it!"
Jiang Yuekai frowned. She looked at Xu Yiran, whose cheeks were flushed, but she was still smiling, "Stop talking nonsense. Jingchu will get angry if he hears you."
Xu Yiran, not seeing Jiang Yuekai, took a few bento boxes and left. The remaining two were still discussing Xu Yiran and Lin Jingchu.
One person said, "With Yiran's devoted affection, why doesn't Jingchu like her?"
Another said, "Doesn't Jingchu already like someone? He hasn't pursued them yet? Who is this woman?"
Jiang Yuekai's relaxed body immediately stiffened. What did he say? Lin Jingchu liked someone?
Judging by the tone, it had been a while, and he still hadn't managed to win her over...
Jiang Yuekai suddenly remembered that a long time ago, Lin Jingchu had told her he liked someone. Also, the last time she said Lin Jingchu wouldn't be a simp, he had asked her back. She thought he was joking, but she hadn't expected it to be true?
Jiang Yuekai suddenly felt a sense of crisis. She tried hard to search her memory but couldn't find the slightest clue.
"Hey? Junior?" Someone recognized Jiang Yuekai, "Why are you here?"
Jiang Yuekai said, "I'm looking for someone. Is it okay to come in?"
After Jiang Yuekai was slandered by Qin Wen last time, everyone in the college knew that Jiang Yuekai was Lin Jingchu's childhood sweetheart. "Of course, it's convenient. Jingchu is in the conference room now, turn left."
