Chapter 655 Airport Ambush

He was trying his best to adapt to the new terms online, but there were still many things he didn't understand. Just as he grasped one concept, another would emerge. Lin Yan couldn't figure out why there were so many new trends and why they appeared so frequently.

What perplexed Lin Yan the most were some internet slang terms. When Chinese could clearly express the meaning, they insisted on using English words. He couldn't tell if it was to show off or to flaunt their supposed higher cultural level.

After practicing for about twenty minutes, Lin Yan retracted his legs. He couldn't maintain the position for too long, as his legs would start to ache severely.

Su Mojin went downstairs to wash the dishes after finishing her meal. Lin Yan, leaning on his crutches, ambled around the hospital room, tidying up his luggage. He planned to fly back home today.

Before Su Mojin returned, Lin Yan didn't forget to call Fu Qingyun to tell her about yesterday's events.

The moment the call connected, Lin Yan was prepared for a scolding. However, when Fu Qingyun answered, she didn't say much to him. She only inquired about his leg injury, which gave Lin Yan a sense of maternal care.

His mother's last sentence, however, left Lin Yan a bit confused. What did she mean by "We'll discuss it when I get home" and "Save me some face when we're out"?

Subconsciously touching his nose, Lin Yan had a strong feeling that things would get unpleasant when he returned home.

After a simple packing of his belongings at noon, Lin Yan, with Su Mojin's support, got into the car and headed for the airport.

Since it was late last night, Zhang Mingzhi and the others hadn't left. Therefore, they were all setting off together today. A long convoy of cars, with Yan Xiaoqiang, Zhang Ningyu, and others inside, drove along, laughing and enjoying the scenery, adding a lot of fun to the entire group.

As usual, they drove the car into the Qatar airport. Su Mojin opened the door and helped Lin Yan out of the car.

Leaning on his crutch with one hand, Lin Yan walked with practiced ease. The airport was a bit crowded today, mostly with passengers waiting for afternoon flights. To avoid being recognized, Lin Yan and his group used a special channel.

For some reason, as the wind blew on his face today, Lin Yan felt a chilling sensation, which was not particularly comfortable.

Could it be due to his leg injury?

Lin Yan frowned, finding it somewhat strange, but he didn't dwell on it.

The car stopped outside the waiting hall. Through the main hall, Lin Yan and his group proceeded to the takeoff area behind the airport.

It was lunchtime, and no planes were scheduled to take off at this hour. Even though this was the busiest period of the week, the vast takeoff area behind the airport was almost deserted. However, several enormous aircraft were parked there, four or five of them. Lin Yan estimated that it would be packed in the afternoon.

Lin Yan's plane hadn't been brought out yet; it was locked in a warehouse nearby. Zhang Mingzhi and the others needed to handle it at the counter. Zhang Mingzhi had already split off with them.

While waiting for the plane on the lawn, Su Mojin slowly spread her arms, feeling the cool breeze blowing from the grassland. Because it was noon, coupled with the dazzling sunlight, the takeoff area, which was nearly as large as the Qatar racetrack, offered a unique scenery.

With the fenced grassland and the azure sky, it had a pastoral feel. Lin Yan also gazed at the scenery aimlessly.

Meanwhile, Yang Tianming, Li Wei, and the others, as usual, kept a vigilant watch on their surroundings. The area was incredibly open, with no obstacles, making it hardly a safe place. Vigilance was necessary.

Invisibly, Li Wei, Yang Tianming, and the five others, along with some accompanying bodyguards, formed a protective circle around Lin Yan. Lin Yan's entourage of bodyguards numbered nearly thirty, all armed, making it more than sufficient to protect Lin Yan and Su Mojin.

With the rumbling sound of engines starting, the metal gate of a large warehouse nearby slowly rose. Lin Yan's private jet was stored here, and it couldn't be opened without the owner's presence.

"Tell me, is the sky at our home bluer than this?"

While the plane was being brought out of the hangar, Su Mojin looked up at the sky, taking a final look at the beautiful scenery here.

"We don't have it at our home, but China definitely has places bluer than this."

Looking at his little girl's hair being blown by the wind, Lin Yan chuckled and replied.

The scenery here was indeed beautiful, but the people here were truly few. Finding a village in China would likely offer a sky similar to this.

After admiring the scenery for a while, the plane was successfully towed to the runway, and everyone prepared to board.

Su Mojin retracted her gaze and supported Lin Yan with her hand. She actually had a question: why was Lin Yan so adept at using crutches?

Yang Tianming and the other four walked in front and behind, with Li Wei following closely behind Lin Yan, completely surrounding and protecting him.

Due to Lin Yan's leg injury, they weren't walking too fast. However, as Lin Yan stepped onto the boarding stairs, an accident occurred.

"Bang bang!"

A series of rapid gunshots suddenly rang out in the open space of the airport. Because of the aircraft's own engine noise, Lin Yan initially didn't recognize them as gunshots. It wasn't until Li Wei, standing beside him, forcefully pushed him down that Lin Yan realized the sounds were indeed gunshots.

Gunshots at the airport!

Li Wei was shot. Yang Tianming immediately pushed Su Mojin, who was closest, into the cabin. The boarding stairs were very narrow, so Su Mojin and Lin Yan were walking one after another. Yang Tianming was at the front, clearing the path, and was already close to the cabin door.

After pulling his wife into the cabin, Yang Tianming immediately reached out to grab Lin Yan. The boarding stairs were practically a firing range, and the attackers clearly knew this. They fired several shots, hitting a bodyguard who was shielding Lin Yan in the leg, causing him to fall to the ground.

The boarding stairs of the Qatar airport had metal railings on both sides, but they were made of rows of metal bars with gaps, designed only as handrails, offering minimal protection.

Fortunately, Lin Yan's private jet was quite low to the ground, and the boarding stairs were less than half the length of those for a commercial airliner. After taking two shots, Yang Tianming pulled Lin Yan into the plane.

Lin Yan was not wearing a bulletproof vest, but these bodyguards were all protected by them.

Li Wei was shot in the shoulder but was not seriously injured. He immediately drew his weapon and began to counterattack.

A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, accompanied by screams from Zhang Mingzhi and the others. After a full half-minute, Li Wei, dragging the injured bodyguard, finally managed to get into the cabin.

"Young master, the immediate threats have been dealt with, but there are still some minor issues, and you cannot go out yet."

The attackers were ground crew working beneath the landing gear of a nearby aircraft. They were some distance away, and their aim was not very accurate. They were killed almost instantly after they made their move.

The most critical shot was fired by a hidden sniper, which Li Wei narrowly dodged.

Inside the cabin, Lin Yan forced himself to calm down. His mental fortitude was not bad, but in such a situation, remaining composed was extremely difficult, as he was, after all, still a normal person.

Lin Yan pulled Su Mojin into his arms. Su Mojin's body was still trembling slightly, clearly shaken by the gunshots.

This was not their first attack, but it had been a long time since the last one. Lin Yan recalled that it was before the Song and Wei families had moved out of the country. He suspected that these two families were likely involved this time as well.

The Qatar airport police arrived at the scene in less than five minutes. Lin Yan didn't know if it was due to their efficiency or because of him.

There were a total of eight assailants, all of whom had been killed by Li Wei and his team. As for the sniper, Li Wei had dispatched people to apprehend him. After the scene was processed, Lin Yan finally emerged from inside the cabin.
