"My sister was framed and hospitalized, and I can't even scrape together the surgical fees."
As the young man spoke, his voice trembled with tears. Su Mojin felt a pang of sympathy, but Lin Yan remained rational.
"You must have some savings after all these years. It's unlikely you wouldn't be able to afford the surgery."
There were many inconsistencies in the young man's story. If he was a seasoned Muay Thai fighter who even earned money from it, how could he not afford the surgery?
Lin Yan's thoughts were understandable. Muay Thai might differ from racing, which requires significant investment, but fighting itself doesn't. However, someone earning a living from it shouldn't be so destitute as to be unable to afford initial medical fees, let alone resort to stealing.
"All our money was lost."
Lin Yan soon understood the situation.
Underground gambling fights. Lin Yan couldn't think of any other explanation.
"Alright, which hospital is your sister in? I'll go take a look. If the situation is as you say, I can help you with the fees, but I have conditions."
Lin Yan wasn't foolish enough to simply hand over money. What if the young man was lying?
"Don't worry, as long as you can save my sister, my sister and I will follow you. My sister is quite capable; she can be your bodyguard."
Hearing Lin Yan agree, the young man quickly said this. This reassured Lin Yan somewhat; at least he wasn't a scammer. As for the bodyguard offer, Lin Yan didn't take it seriously. A fighter might not compare to a professional bodyguard.
Muay Thai is known for its powerful strikes, considered one of the more aggressive fighting styles. However, what Li Wei and the others learned were killing techniques. There's a difference between competition and actual combat. More importantly, Li Wei and his group sometimes didn't rely solely on punches and kicks to win.
No matter how fast a punch is, it's not as fast as American Kenjutsu, is it?
In this era, having a "pew pew pew" is king.
Out of a sense of shared nationality, Lin Yan decided to help the young man. He had Li Wei bring the young man into the car, and they headed together to the hospital where his sister was staying.
The hospital wasn't in a remote area but was quite far from the city center. Fortunately, Thailand's streets weren't as congested as Kyoto's, so Lin Yan and Li Wei didn't waste much time arriving.
The young man seemed to have never ridden in such a fine car; he was still a bit nervous getting out.
He led Lin Yan and the others to his younger sister's ward.
The ward was on the third floor, a three-bed room. Carefully pushing the door open, the young man brought Lin Yan inside.
The ward was simple, with all the necessary facilities. Upon closer inspection, it didn't look like they couldn't afford the bills. However, Lin Yan had already learned that the current hospitalization fees were what the young man had stolen.
Two broken ribs and a fractured leg bone. The injuries were indeed severe.
Lin Yan and Su Mojin went to the bedside indicated by the young man. Lying on the bed was the young man's sister, who was still asleep with her eyes closed.
