The Qin County Princess Consort sent over some items, saying that Qi Mingzhu should also send them to the Gu residence.
Putting aside other matters, no matter what, Qi Zhenzhen was, after all, the nominal granddaughter of the Qin County Princess Consort's household.
The Qin County Princess Consort had prepared quite a few things, all appearing very valuable.
“Your maternal grandmother is truly generous, these are all good things,” said Madam Qin after a glance.
“Grandmother is generous, and it brings you honor too, doesn't it?” Qi Mingzhu said with a smile.
“That is true.” Madam Qin showed a hint of pride on her face. “Alright, you’ve talked with me for so long, you must be tired. Have Fusheng attend to you and rest. I’ll be going back now.”
“Then I’ll see you off, Mother,” Qi Mingzhu said, preparing to get up.
Madam Qin quickly pressed her back down. “Just have Fusheng arrange for someone to see me off. I’m not an outsider. Besides, I grew up in this residence, how could I not know the way?”
Qi Mingzhu could not persuade Madam Qin and had to agree.
After Madam Qin left, Qi Mingzhu and Fusheng organized the items to be sent to the Gu residence. Qi Mingzhu instructed Fusheng to take people to deliver the gifts and to send her regards to Qi Zhenzhen. She herself wished to go, but the Qin County Princess Consort’s household was watching her very closely now, and they certainly wouldn’t let her go out, especially after the incident where Qi Zhenzhen was attacked outside.
“Inquire if the mastermind behind the attack has been found.”
Fusheng acknowledged.
Qi Zhenzhen looked at the gift list and couldn't help but touch her forehead. “Did Eldest Sister empty out the County Princess Consort’s residence?”
Fusheng replied with a smile, “The smaller list is what our Madam prepared, and the larger one is from the County Princess Consort.”
Qi Zhenzhen handed the gift list to Liu Xu. “How has Eldest Sister been these past few days?”
“The household physician checks her pulse daily, and the physician from Baicaotang visits the County Princess Consort’s residence every five days. Madam and the baby are both doing well,” Fusheng replied.
“Tell Eldest Sister when I am out of confinement, I will bring Sui’an to the County Princess Consort’s residence to see her,” Qi Zhenzhen said.
“I will tell Madam when I return, she will surely be very happy. If it weren’t for the County Princess Consort and the Heir’s wife watching her too closely, our Madam would have come to visit Madam Gu herself. She has been thinking of you all along and instructed me to be sure to ask clearly how you are doing, whether Miss Sui’an is well-behaved, and if the villains from the other day have been caught,” Fusheng relayed all of Qi Mingzhu’s instructions.
“The culprits haven’t been caught, but we already know who the mastermind is,” Qi Zhenzhen said. “Tell Eldest Sister not to worry.”
Qi Zhenzhen did not tell Fusheng that the mastermind behind her assassination attempt was Lu Ruoyun.
Now that Lu Ruoyun was the Second Prince’s Consort, without concrete evidence, publicizing it would not only fail to deter her but could very well lead to her being framed.
Fusheng said what she needed to say and asked what she needed to ask. She bowed and took her leave.
After Fusheng left, Gu Sinian came out from the warm chamber. “Rest assured, I will not let you and the child suffer in vain. It’s just that His Majesty still has arrangements, and the time is not yet right.”
“With you here, what do I have to worry about? Rather, you spend all your time at home, aren’t you delaying your duties?” Qi Zhenzhen asked.
“Xie Chen knows about your childbirth, so he has taken over most of my busy work,” Gu Sinian said.
“When you see Lord Xie in the future, be polite. Setting aside what will happen between him and Mother later, just for the help he’s given you, you shouldn’t always give him a cold shoulder, should you?”
“My smiles are for you and An’an. Besides, outside, and in front of anyone, I am the same,” Gu Sinian corrected. “It’s not a cold shoulder.”
Qi Zhenzhen reached out and pinched Gu Sinian’s cheek. “Yes, it’s still me and An’an who have the most influence.”
