Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Pregnancy Taboos
Shi Yu could see Shen Cheng from afar and thus fought with even greater ferocity, preventing any of the President’s Mansion guards from getting close to him.
From the corner of her eye, Shen Cheng caught a glimpse of Doctor Feng silently drawing a pistol, aiming in Shi Yu’s direction.
She immediately kicked up her leg, the gun fell to the ground and she kicked it elsewhere.
Giving Doctor Feng a sidelong glare, Shen Cheng whispered, "If you want to live, it’s best not to make a move."
Shi Yu and his men quickly made their way over.
When he saw Shen Cheng’s face in that instant, an indescribable tenderness flashed through his blood-red cold eyes.
Seeing that she was safe and sound, the anxiety he had been holding was finally released.
Perhaps it was because they had spent so much time together that the two had developed an understanding beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Just by exchanging a glance, they could read each other’s hearts.
Shen Cheng pushed the nearly unconscious Mo Jin towards Doctor Feng and, amidst the chaos, she swiftly retreated, darting into the protective circle of Shi Yu’s men.
Shi Yu tightly embraced Shen Cheng in his arms, carefully checking if she was injured.
The moment he saw the wound on Shen Cheng’s leg, Shi Yu’s killing intent exploded: "He dared to hurt you!"
His fingers, defined and tense, clenched around the pistol as he wrapped his arm around Shen Cheng and headed towards Mo Jin.
Shen Cheng pulled on his hand, but Shi Yu turned a deaf ear, consumed by his agitated state.
Shen Cheng had no choice but to pretend her leg hurt and collapsed to the ground; Shi Yu responded quickly, immediately catching her.
Shen Cheng whispered in his ear: "I’m pregnant, these things are taboo."
What she said was true; killing someone while pregnant was really not a good omen.
More importantly, although Shi Yu’s financial power could now match Mo Jin’s, if he really killed him, it would undoubtedly stir up trouble and bloodshed.
She didn’t want to experience the feeling of fear and suspense again; since yesterday, every minute and every second, she had been worrying about his well-being.
Hearing Shen Cheng’s words, Shi Yu gripped the gun even tighter, his immense urge to kill clearly visible to anyone looking.
But in the end, he simply bent down, picked up Shen Cheng, and commanded everyone: "Let’s go!"
In the car, Shen Cheng could finally get a good look at Shi Yu.
He must have not slept all night, stubble sprouting on his chin, looking more haggard than usual, but this gave him a decadent sort of beauty.
Shi Yu was like that; in any situation, any state, he was still so handsome.
Not seeing him for a day, he actually looked a bit thinner.
Shen Cheng looked over Shi Yu, allowing him to hold onto her hand.
Among Shi Yu’s men was a private doctor, in case Shen Cheng needed immediate medical attention, which now proved useful.
The private doctor was efficient, swiftly and cleanly removed the porcelain shard from Shen Cheng’s wound, thankfully the stab was only part of the act to lure Mo Jin over, so the injury wasn’t deep.
After knowing the origin of the wound, Shi Yu had a look of thin anger in his deep eyes, filled with heartache.
Shen Cheng didn’t speak, only hugged his waist to comfort him, resting her head on his chest.
The driver drove steadily, and the car’s environment was familiar. After not sleeping for a day and night and going through so much, Shen Cheng quickly became sleepy leaning in Shi Yu’s embrace and drifted off to sleep.
Testing the waters, the private doctor said: "Young Master, your arm..."
At the sound, Shi Yu’s gaze turned cold, frightening the doctor into hastily swallowing his words.
He almost let it slip, but fortunately, the Young Madam was sleeping, otherwise...
