Chapter 400: Chapter 400: Whatever He Can Give You, I Can Give Too
When she entered, the Beast Furnace was already there; everything in the President’s Mansion was luxuriously classical, so the existence of such a thing was not surprising.
She knew that some households liked to use incense to permeate the room’s air while entertaining distinguished guests, so she hadn’t paid any attention to it.
Furthermore, the incense burner was lit yesterday, but it didn’t have any scent, nor did she feel any discomfort, so she ignored it.
Therefore, someone must have switched the incense when she wasn’t paying attention.
She casually reached for the cup on the side table next to her, stood up, and threw it forward, causing the incense burner to topple over onto the table.
The cup had water in it, which was just right to douse the burning charcoal inside.
With a hiss, a surge of fragrance billowed out for a moment, then gradually extinguished.
After destroying the incense burner, Shen Cheng’s sense of discomfort became more pronounced, starting with dizziness and eventually her vision began to blur.
She staggered a few steps, and ultimately, she couldn’t keep her balance and collapsed onto the sofa.
As her strength slowly ebbed away, Shen Cheng struggled to maintain her consciousness. But it seemed the drug was particularly potent, slowly beginning to seep into her thoughts.
In her hazed state of mind, Shen Cheng managed to grope for the piece of broken porcelain she always carried with her, clutching it tightly in her hand.
At this moment, Mo Jin’s voice came from the door: "Is it done?"
Then came the butler’s respectful reply: "Yes."
The door opened, and Mo Jin walked in, followed by the butler carrying a tray with an exquisitely patterned silver bowl on it.
In the bowl was a pale green liquid that color-coordinated with the cup, shimmering and quite attractive.
However, Shen Cheng couldn’t see any of this now; she struggled to open her eyes, seeing only double images.
But Shen Cheng was still Shen Cheng, leaning against the back of the sofa, displaying a defiant aura even in a completely disadvantaged state.
The butler looked somewhat surprised; unless he had personally switched and lit the incense, he’d think that she hadn’t been affected by the sedative fragrance.
Propping herself up on the sofa, Shen Cheng let out a weak snicker: "For a woman, you’ve even resorted to such means."
Hearing the sarcasm in her voice, Mo Jin stiffened for a moment, but quickly returned to normal, smiling at Shen Cheng.
His smile was clean, but his words sent a chill down the spines of the servants present: "To have you, I don’t mind using any means necessary."
Mo Jin gestured for the butler to feed Shen Cheng the medicine.
But as soon as he spoke, he retracted his command: "I’ll do it myself."
The butler dared not disobey him and presented the tray with both hands in front of Mo Jin.
Mo Jin, with his good-looking hands, took the silver bowl and walked step by step determinedly towards Shen Cheng, speaking gently yet cruelly: "Be good, drink this and there will be no more issues."
Shen Cheng reached out to brush it away, but her movements were now much slower than usual, and Mo Jin easily avoided her attempt.
Shen Cheng’s hand, extended halfway, fell powerlessly, and even keeping her eyes open was now a struggle.
"I have prepared a lot of this medicine; if it’s tipped over, I’ll have to fetch more. Seeing you like this, I don’t have the heart."
Shen Cheng scoffed, unable to bear it?
He could say it as if it were perfectly reasonable!
"If you drink it, I will no longer imprison you in this room. As long as you don’t leave the President’s Mansion, you can go wherever you wish." He paused, then added, "Anything Shi Yu can give you, I can provide as well."
