Chapter 342: Chapter 342: Strange Screams
Shen Cheng was awakened by a shrill scream.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes, propped herself up in bed, and still felt a bit drowsy.
Alas!
How could pregnancy make one so sleepy.
She rolled out of bed, poured a glass of water, walked back to the side of the bed, and took a sip.
"Ah!"
A cry of alarm came, startling her so that she trembled and spilled some of the water from the glass.
She frowned, reached into the tissue box, and wiped the water stains on the bedsheets clean with a few tissues.
"Ah!"
Another scream rang out, even more vigorous than the last.
Shen Cheng’s brow furrowed even tighter, thinking how open people were these days, to be tumbling in bed and moaning so sensually in broad daylight.
She had never cried out like that at home...
She set down the glass and went into the bathroom to wash her face and quickly freshen up; she simply took her cellphone with her and left the room.
Just as she locked the door, she heard another "Ah..." from the next room.
Something seemed off.
Despite the sensual cries, they seemed somewhat reluctant.
Could it be that a scene of... assault was playing out inside?
She was not at all interested in such things, but she was truly curious about this non-stop moaning woman.
Unable to resist the curiosity, she went over and knocked on the door.
After knocking, she quietly waited outside, casually leaning against the wall, in a rare good mood.
After waiting for a while without anyone opening the door, the woman’s cries continued unabated: "Ah..."
She raised her hand and knocked on the door again.
But still, no one answered.
And just at that moment, a waitress carrying a bottle of red wine approached from afar.
Upon seeing Shen Cheng, she first respectfully bent her waist in greeting, then straightened up and politely inquired: "Young Madam Shi, would you like to enter?"
Shen Cheng glanced at her and responded indifferently: "Mhm."
The waitress smiled slightly upon hearing this and said: "I am here to deliver the alcohol, and I can knock on the door for you."
As she spoke, she walked over, holding the tray with one hand and gently knocked on the door with the other.
After a half-minute wait, still no one came to open the door.
Shen Cheng shot the waitress a glance and asked, "Do you have a keycard?"
Knocking and such were nothing compared to a real keycard.
The waitress paused, then answered: "I have a keycard, but..."
"Take it out."
Shen Cheng interrupted her, stretching out her hand towards her.
The waitress hesitated: "This... Young Madam Shi, it is against the rules to intrude into a guest’s room without permission."
"If I tell you to get it, just get it. Stop wasting words."
With one sentence, the waitress didn’t dare utter another word. Knowing that it violated professional ethics, she still fished out a spare keycard from her uniform pocket and gave it to Shen Cheng.
Shen Cheng took the keycard and didn’t say another word; she just swiped it directly on the door’s electronic sensor.
With a click, the door opened.
The room-darkening curtains on the floor-to-ceiling window were tightly drawn, making everything appear somewhat dim.
"Ah!"
A cry of alarm at this moment seemed somewhat eerie.
The scream startled the waitress, causing the tray she carried to tip and the red wine to almost spill.
Fortunately, Shen Cheng was quick and deft. Just before the red wine was about to hit the floor, she bent slightly and reached out with a long arm to catch the wine bottle.
She stood up straight and calmly placed the red wine back on the waitress’s tray: "Hold it carefully."
The waitress was startled and took about three seconds to realize what had happened, "Thank..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Shen Cheng had already stepped forward and walked inside.
