The endless bloody mist coiled around them. As the mechanism opened, the figure clad in a wedding dress plummeted from the sky like a butterfly.
Ignoring her purpose, Tantai Ye leaped forward upon seeing the person descending gracefully. He caught the soft red figure in his arms and landed.
“Rou’er.”
Tantai Ye, having lost and then regained her, his scarlet eyes were filled with joy.
He gazed at her pale, gaunt little face, holding her tightly in his embrace, closing his eyes and greedily inhaling her scent.
Her body was as soft as boneless, confined in the forbidden ground for days without medicine. She was frighteningly slender, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.
Ye Luan did not believe Xie Beihan would be so kind. She eyed him warily.
“What do you want?”
Xie Beihan lowered his gaze to her, then sneered, “I wish to see what it feels like when lovers, who cannot stay together, are forced apart.”
As the words fell, a large group of people suddenly emerged from the surrounding withered bone mountain, each holding a bow and arrow, all aimed at Tantai Ye.
Ye Luan gritted her teeth and glared at Xie Beihan.
“You’re insane.”
In the sky, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled. Vast dark clouds obscured the horizon, looking as though the sky was about to collapse.
Soon, a fierce wind raged, and torrential rain poured down like a mad torrent.
Xie Beihan trapped her, his hoarse voice laced with a hint of morbid laughter.
“He deserves the fate of being pierced by ten thousand arrows.”
As he spoke, his sinister eyes fixed directly on Tantai Ye.
“Come, release the arrows!”
With his command, arrows whistled through the wind and rain.
In the pouring rain, countless arrows, like released bowstrings, streaked down, all aimed at Tantai Ye’s direction.
Tantai Ye’s face was cold. Kneeling on the blood-soaked battlefield, he shielded the person in his arms tightly.
If she could not survive, what did it matter if he died?
Under the desolate sky, blood and arrows littered the surroundings.
The King of Lingnan and his generals desperately protected the surrounded Tantai Ye.
But with ten thousand arrows fired, the rain of arrows surged like a tide.
Some fell, and others rose.
Ye Luan’s face was deathly pale. She tightly gripped Xie Beihan’s hand.
“Xie Beihan, stop, stop!”
Xie Beihan allowed her to pull him, his gaze mockingly fixed on the battlefield where arrows flew.
Ye Luan’s eyes turned a terrifying red. She glanced at the Great Liang soldiers who could no longer hold on, pushed him away, drew her saber, and headed towards the base of the forbidden ground.
“Stop her!”
Chi Yan leaped lightly and blocked Ye Luan’s path.
With a clang, Ye Luan swung her saber at him.
The dark clouds churned like monstrous waves. The rain intensified, and the surrounding Mandara flowers bloomed with an unusually vibrant hue, emitting a faint red glow.
Chi Yan attacked fiercely but did not harm her in the slightest. Their figures clashed fiercely on the ground.
Ye Luan’s slender fingers gripped the white blade. Her attacks were wild and unmethodical. Her red gauze dress fluttered in the wind, and the glint of her sword and the flash of her saber electrified the flower sea. Countless red petals swirled up, falling onto both of them.
The wind blew. Within the forbidden ground, rain lashed down, and rivers of blood flowed.
Around Tantai Ye were corpses and blood.
Everyone had fallen. The world was empty. Only he remained kneeling, his gaze fixed on the person in his arms.
With a *plop*, a cold, sharp arrow struck him from behind.
He immediately spat out blood, the crimson liquid flowing down his chin and onto Lan Mu Rou’s eyes. Her tightly shut eyelashes trembled slightly.
Arrow after arrow flew towards them, piercing Tantai Ye’s body like ten thousand arrows.
Lightning split the sky. Within the grim and bloody forbidden ground, the churning rain filled the heavens and earth.
Tantai Ye could no longer hold on and crashed to the ground.
“Tantai Ye, get up! Mu Rou is not dead yet. Do you want to let her suffer the agony of being pierced by ten thousand arrows?”
Ye Luan, entangled, desperately tried to reach Tantai Ye. Seeing him with no will to live, she let out a piercing roar.
“Coward! Get up and fight.”
The rain poured down, beating upon the blood-soaked battlefield.
He held the person in his arms, clad in battle armor, his eyes scarlet, lying covered in blood on the ground.
At that moment, with a whoosh, a sharp arrow wind struck.
The person beside him suddenly opened their eyes, stood up, and spread their arms, shielding him.
The cold wind howled. She wore a red wedding dress. The piercing arrow penetrated her soft body, and blood gushed out with a *poof*.
This scene stunned everyone.
Tantai Ye’s scarlet gaze fixed in shock on the person who had stepped in front of him. His senses seemed to be sealed. The wind blew, and everything around them felt empty.
Torn apart, falling.
She turned her head, her face a ghastly pale. Her clear, water-like eyes met his. Her body collapsed with a *boom*, falling into his arms.
His gaze turned ferocious and terrifying. He slightly parted his lips but could not utter a sound. Blood flowed from his mouth. Tears suddenly welled up in his scarlet eyes.
The chilling rain pattered down on both of them.
Tantai Ye’s deathly pale face contorted. He struggled to hold the person in his arms tightly, laboriously standing up.
Lan Mu Rou’s body was extremely weak. Hit by an arrow, the delicate, pale complexion of her face had lost almost all its color.
They both knelt on the ground. His forehead rested against hers. His blood-stained hands gently patted her face. With a hoarse voice, like a ghostly wail, he softly called her name, imbued with boundless despair.
Wake up, are you awake?
Ye Luan looked at the person who had awakened in shock and hurried over.
Chi Yan did not stop her. Having been hit by so many arrows, she would not survive.
Because Ye Luan had barged in and protected them, the arrow rain abruptly ceased.
She looked at the two figures covered in blood, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.
“Mu Rou–”
The roaring, tumbling water beat against the ground. A faint, ethereal glow shone through the sparse branches, illuminating the two figures, making them appear as pale as frost.
Ye Luan looked at Xie Beihan standing high on the altar, her eyes turning cold.
“They are dying. Let me take them away.”
Xie Beihan’s expression was indifferent, and he remained silent.
However, more and more assassins surrounded them, all targeting Tantai Ye.
Ye Luan’s eyes turned scarlet with anger as she looked at Xie Beihan. The saber in her hand turned white, trembling.
Had she become disappointed in him?
A trace of self-mockery flashed in Xie Beihan’s beautiful phoenix eyes, but he did not yield.
“Attack.”
Ye Luan refused to budge, continuously protecting the two.
The surrounding assassins dared not touch her, holding back their attacks, thus delaying their approach to Tantai Ye.
The dark sky seemed like a torn seam. Fierce winds raged, and rain poured down onto the earth, splashing into their eyes.
Tantai Ye knelt on the ground, his scarlet eyes terrifyingly bleak. He cupped her face in his hands, calling her name again and again, blood continuously oozing from his mouth.
Lan Mu Rou’s eyes were closed, her delicate face devoid of any color.
Suddenly, a series of bell chimes echoed from the distant sky.
Lan Mu Rou’s eyes snapped open abruptly. Her pupils turned an eerie red. Holding a saber that appeared from nowhere, she ferociously tried to stab Tantai Ye.
“Kill him, kill him.”
