Chapter 118 Waking Up

As long as she returned to that world, Girona and Amiya could continue their peaceful lives.

Upon his return, Girona, with champagne and a large bouquet of beautiful flowers, knelt before Camille and spoke romantic, passionate vows of proposal.

Camille looked at Girona and, with icy words, announced their breakup.

Ignoring Girona's pleas to stay, she left their home without looking back, as if she had never been there at all.

Their vibrant, colorful home instantly transformed into a silent film, devoid of color.

Girona returned to his easel. Unlike before, even Amiya, who used to argue with him, had gone to Barcelona to study long before Camille left.

Shortly after Camille's departure, Girona suddenly collapsed before his easel one day. Xia Qingtian, trapped within the mirror, wanted to call for help but was powerless.

She could only watch everything from a third-person perspective, unable to participate or influence any changes.

Fortunately, someone noticed something was amiss and called an ambulance.

Girona was saved, but only temporarily.

During this hospitalization, the doctor delivered his death sentence.

The cancer cells had spread at an alarming rate; any treatment could only delay the inevitable.

After a brief moment of shock, he seemed to find a sense of relief, as if a great weight had been lifted.

Discovering the cancer at this point was far better than finding out before Camille left, which would have allowed him to use humanitarian reasons to force her to stay by his side.

He concealed his condition from Amiya, who was home for the holidays, only telling her that he and Camille had broken up.

He said nothing more.

Amiya knew Girona was in pain and wanted to help him, but ultimately, she could do nothing.

When the holiday ended, Girona saw Amiya off. Afterward, he donned his favorite suit, sat before the video recorder, and recorded a message.

He had recorded this video many times.

Later, he hand-wrote two letters of testament for Amiya. One was for Amiya, and the other, along with the portraits he had painted for Camille, was sent to a Parisian address Camille had once mentioned.

Girona once again expressed his love for Camille, hoping that after his death, she would look after Amiya, considering their five years together.

Being in the same circle, Girona knew how difficult it was for an ordinary girl from an unknown town in Spain to make a name for herself.

He was not a good father, nor was he a good lover.

However, he wished for both women he deeply loved to be well.

Then, on a dark and rainy day, Girona died, right in front of the mirror in his home.

Xia Qingtian pounded on the mirror, sobbing uncontrollably.

Subsequently, the three men who had threatened Madame Camille returned. They confiscated the letter of testament Girona had left for Amiya and forged a new one in the same handwriting.

They also arranged for a Spanish girl named Clara to pose as Girona's former student and deliver the forged letter to Amiya, who was grieving her father's death.

"It's not like this! It's not like this!" Xia Qingtian beat against the mirror, but all she saw was Amiya's once bright and spirited eyes growing increasingly cold and cruel.

Finally, Amiya had the entire house sealed off, determined to embark on a path of revenge for Girona.

Before the mirror was sealed again, Xia Qingtian watched Amiya standing before it.

Amiya was gazing distractedly at the pocket watch in her hand—an old-fashioned pocket watch that had always hung on Girona's easel.

It was the only thing Girona had left for Amiya.

The mirror was sealed, once again cutting off Xia Qingtian's view.

The world gradually faded from blurry to complete darkness.

Another powerful suction pulled Xia Qingtian back into her own body. Before she could react and adjust to regaining control of her body, a cold blade was already at her throat.

This jolted Xia Qingtian awake instantly. She met a pair of eyes filled with dark malice.

Just as she had seen in the mirror.

"Amiya!" Xia Qingtian cried out.

Upon hearing her name called by Xia Qingtian, Amiya froze. Before she could react, Clara's urgent voice came from behind her, "We're running out of time! The design drafts have been found, we must leave quickly!"

The organization was waiting for them!

Since Madame Camille was so uncooperative, they would completely ruin her.

They wanted not only her life but also her reputation, so they could cultivate a more obedient and successful pawn for the organization.

Hearing Clara's urging, Amiya's surprised gaze was replaced by a look of grim determination. Just as she was about to strike down Xia Qingtian, she heard Xia Qingtian call out another name: "Girona!"

Hearing her father's name, Amiya frowned and immediately questioned, "How do you know my father's name?"

"I, I certainly do! I studied painting with Teacher Girona when I was little! I'm his student!" Since that Clara could falsely claim to be Girona's student, why couldn't she?

"Amiya! Don't listen to her nonsense! How could someone from Z Country be Teacher Girona's student? Don't you remember how we were locked in the secret room? People from Z Country are the most cunning!" Clara, unsure if Xia Qingtian was telling the truth, urged nervously.

"There was a pocket watch on Teacher Girona's easel, Teacher Girona used to hold his brush in his left hand, and he most often used bright yellow for highlights," Xia Qingtian recalled everything she had seen in the mirror, remembering Girona's painting habits. "Every time he finished a painting, he would drink a can of beer and toast his own work!"

Hearing Xia Qingtian say this, Amiya was stunned, as if seeing her artist father again.

"Amiya!" Clara, realizing the limited time, frowned and reached out to push Amiya's knife-wielding hand, intending to finish Xia Qingtian.

Fortunately, Amiya reacted first, withdrawing the knife. Despite being pushed, only the tip of the knife lightly grazed Xia Qingtian's collarbone, leaving a superficial wound.

That moment truly scared Xia Qingtian pale. If Amiya hadn't withdrawn the knife in time, she would have bled out on the spot and died.

Amiya was also startled and immediately moved her knife-wielding hand behind her back. "Clara! You almost killed her!"

"Weren't you going to kill her too?" Clara retorted.

"But it's different now!" Amiya said, "She's my father's student, I..."

"How could your father's student be involved with Madame Camille? Haven't you ever thought about that?" Clara's eyes turned cold. "Perhaps she helped Madame Camille and caused Teacher Girona's demise!"

"Amiya! Kill her! Avenge your father!"
