Asada Mai was truly desperate. He summoned two Shikigami with talismans. The bird-like creature was named Ubume, and the half-spider, half-human monster was named Jorōgumo!
Ubume, in reality, is a legend from Hua Xia that was transmitted to Wa Country.
Legend has it that Ubume is formed from the lingering obsessions of deceased mothers, carrying infants and walking in the night. The cries of the infants in their arms turn into the calls of Ubume.

Jorōgumo, also known as Nuwa, is recorded in Toriyama Sekien's "Gazu Hyakki Yagyō." This monster is a yokai where a spider transforms into human form. It seduces men, and after they are lured in, it takes their heads to consume.
These two monsters before them were the most powerful Shikigami that Asada Mai had cultivated with his life's effort.

The resources consumed for each of them were enough to cultivate over ten Haniwa.
