Chapter 9 Extortion

A fist the size of a bowl slammed towards Ling Tian's face, imbued with immense power and whistling through the air.

Bai Guanghai did not intervene, wanting to gauge Ling Tian's capabilities.

A faint smile touched Ling Tian's lips. He was intimately familiar with the opponent's move; it was the "Subduing Demons and Tigers Fist," one of Shaolin's seventy-two ultimate techniques.

This martial art was exceptionally fierce and potent. Though its movements were not flashy, each punch possessed the might to crack stone and split mountains. A blow from such a fist would be fatal or crippling.

Ling Tian's composure stemmed from his second master, a highly accomplished monk who, coincidentally, hailed from Shaolin. More precisely, the great monk originated from the Shaolin Sutra Repository.

The Shaolin Sutra Repository, despite its name suggesting a library-like institution, was in reality where Shaolin martial monks meticulously studied various martial arts.

Even within Shaolin, a place renowned for its abundance of talent, only the most exceptional martial artists qualified to enter the Sutra Repository and delve into diverse martial disciplines.

Ling Tian had mastered not only the seventy-two ultimate Shaolin techniques but also dozens of other Shaolin martial arts beyond that.

While he couldn't execute all of these ultimate techniques, Ling Tian was exceptionally clear about the strengths and weaknesses of Shaolin martial arts and how to counter them.

Facing the "Mad Dog's" assault, Ling Tian neither dodged nor evaded, but waited calmly. When the opponent's fist drew within a foot of his body, Ling Tian made his move.

He abruptly raised his left hand, fingers pressed together. Between his fingers, he held a triangular silver needle.

The triangular needle was the thickest among traditional Chinese acupuncture needles, as thick as a pencil lead and incredibly sharp, primarily used for bloodletting.

At this point, "Mad Dog" had no time to change his attack. His fist landed squarely on the silver needle.

The triangular silver needle pierced through the gap between the bones of his index and middle fingers, sinking in entirely and reaching his wrist.

Imagine the sheer agony of punching a nail driven perpendicularly outwards with all your might.

He felt a piercing pain shoot through his right hand, followed by violent spasms in his entire right arm. The pain was so intense it nearly made him black out.

"Ah!"

"Mad Dog" let out a heart-wrenching scream. His body recoiled as if electrocuted, then he quickly crouched on the ground, clutching his right hand, unable to rise.

The silver needle remained lodged in his fist, his entire palm impaled, rendering his fist unclosable.

Ling Tian spread his hands and shrugged helplessly.

"You all saw it. He attacked me first. I was merely acting in self-defense!"

His feigned innocence struck Bai Guanghai and the others as incredibly irritating.

Old Master Wang, however, found his grandson-in-law utterly delightful. Boys, he mused, a bit of mischief made them more endearing.

"Take him to the hospital. Find the best doctor to treat him!"

Bai Guanghai instructed his subordinates before turning to Ling Tian, gritting his teeth.

"Speak. How can you hand over the antidote?"

Ling Tian sat down on a chair, picked up a cup of tea, and took a leisurely sip before speaking.

"A few days ago, when the Old Master was ill, you took advantage of the situation and acquired a thirty percent stake in the Wang family's enterprises.

My demand is not excessive. Sell these thirty percent shares back to the Wang family, and I will give you the prescription for the antidote!"

Upon hearing this, the Wang family members looked at Ling Tian with newfound respect. The Old Master was out of danger, and the Wang family rejoiced. Coupled with their efforts to clean up the mess from the previous day, they hadn't had time to consider this matter.

Unexpectedly, Ling Tian had brought it up himself and was now using it to pressure Bai Guanghai into returning the shares.

The Bai family's acquisition of thirty percent of the Wang family's shares, while not granting them controlling interest, was enough to impede the company's operations at every turn. It was a veritable, life-threatening tumor.

Ling Tian knew that Bai Haotian was Bai Guanghai's lifeline. He couldn't possibly let his son die years later, so he intended to use this as leverage to force the Bai family to relinquish the shares.

"Oh, this is quite difficult. To purchase these shares, we mobilized hundreds of billions in funds, much of which was borrowed, incurring substantial interest.

The Bai family's interest in acquiring the Wang family's shares stems from our confidence in the potential of the Wang family's industries.

If we were to sell the shares back now, we would likely suffer immense losses..."

Ling Tian and Old Master Wang simultaneously cursed Bai Guanghai in their minds, recognizing him as a cunning old fox.

Despite his deep concern for his son's safety, the old man remained composed, still attempting to haggle.

His son was his lifeline, but these thirty percent shares were also the Wang family's Achilles' heel!

At this moment, Old Master Wang spoke.

"Patriarch Bai, our Wang family will not let the Bai family suffer any losses when we redeem the shares.

Name your price. As long as the figure is reasonable, we will consider reaching an agreement!"

Bai Guanghai felt incredibly smug, believing he had seized the initiative.

"How about this? I want all the shares of your Wang family's Baijin Real Estate and Baijin Home Appliances!

The value of these shares will serve as the bargaining chip for the thirty percent of Wang Group shares!"

The Wang family members' expressions changed drastically, some even erupting in anger.

The reason was simple: Bai Guanghai was making an outrageous demand!

Baijin Real Estate was the third-ranked real estate group in Jiangshan City and ranked among the top thirty major real estate developers nationwide.

Baijin Home Appliances was the third-largest chain appliance retailer in the country, boasting over a thousand stores nationwide.

More importantly, these two companies were the most profitable among the Wang family's enterprises. In recent years, their revenue had accounted for nearly seventy percent of the Wang family's total income.

In other words, the market value of these two companies exceeded half of the Wang family's total industrial market value.

How could the Wang family possibly accept Bai Guanghai's demand to exchange thirty percent of the Wang family's shares for controlling interest in these two companies?

"Bai, you can forget about it! This is extortion! Don't you care about your son's life anymore!"

Uncle Wang the Second, unable to contain himself, blurted out in a roar.

"Heh, I detest haggling when doing business. This is my final offer. If you agree, we transact; if not, we part ways!

As for my son, let him die. I can always have more, I have plenty of women!"

Bai Guanghai sneered triumphantly, then stood up and cupped his hands towards Old Master Wang.

"Elder, please consider it. I shall take my leave now!"

Bai Guanghai turned to leave with his subordinates. Just then, Ling Tian suddenly spoke.

"Patriarch Bai, don't be in such a hurry. There are a few things I need to discuss with you!"
