Chapter 277 Life and Death

Before Jiang Wan could turn around, she felt a sharp chill on her back.

She was injured!

The thought flashed through her mind before she even felt any pain from the wound.

She quickly grabbed a stone within reach, spun around, and hurled it at the person who had ambushed her.

Her strength was immense. The stone flew straight towards the attacker's face, shattering half of their head.

The attacker collapsed, but Jiang Wan's face rapidly turned pale.

The attacker's sword was poisoned!

At that moment, several other injured rebels, brandishing knives, rushed towards her.

Jiang Wan quickly used the last of her special ability to detoxify herself, picked up a knife from the ground, and gritted her teeth as she stood up.

The rebels did not give her enough time to recover. They surrounded Jiang Wan together.

Jiang Wan gripped the knife tightly, her heart heavy.

She might die here tonight.

She didn't regret her decision, but she felt a pang of regret that she wouldn't be able to stay with her family any longer.

She had gained so much from these past two years of family affection and care; in fact, she had profited greatly. But it was too short, and she hadn't enjoyed it enough.

There were so many things she still wanted to do, but hadn't had the chance.

If there was any regret, it was the regret of not being able to protect her family anymore.

In this chaotic world, she didn't know if they could all survive safely without her by their side.

In that instant, Jiang Wan thought of many things, yet it felt as if she thought of nothing at all.

The rebels lunged at her, and Jiang Wan met them with her knife.

The wound on her back throbbed with increasing pain as she moved. Jiang Wan endured it, swinging her large saber at them.

Her aim was true. With one strike, she cut down a rebel.

The remaining rebels, seeing her ferocity, immediately became ten times more alert.

Jiang Wan was trapped in the center. The rebels exchanged glances and simultaneously raised their swords to strike at Jiang Wan.

Jiang Wan wanted to dodge, but her special ability was exhausted at that moment. A great weakness washed over her, and Jiang Wan could barely stand.

As the swords were about to strike her, Jiang Wan calmly closed her eyes, letting her body fall to the ground.

She hadn't had a complete body in her previous life, and now she was meeting a terrible end again. It was quite ironic.

However, the moment her body touched the ground, Gu Chenzhou's voice called out, "Wan Wan!"

When Gu Chenzhou arrived, he saw several rebels surrounding Jiang Wan, and Jiang Wan collapsing, covered in blood.

The little fatty girl was gone?

She was only six years old!

Were these beasts even human?

Gu Chenzhou drew his sword and charged forward like lightning, slashing at the rebels.

His martial arts were formidable, and the rebels, already severely wounded, were no match for Gu Chenzhou. In just a few moments, Gu Chenzhou cut them down.

"Wan Wan!"

Gu Chenzhou wanted to help Jiang Wan up, but the smell of blood in the air and the scattered corpses before him began to make his mind unstable.

He was about to have an episode again!

Seeing Gu Chenzhou's expression change for the worse, Jiang Wan quickly used the last of her strength to climb up, wanting to transfer her special ability to him.

But her special ability was already depleted, and she could barely stay conscious.

Jiang Wan tightly grabbed Gu Chenzhou's hand and shouted, "Gu Chenzhou, control yourself! If you act like this, we'll both die here!"

Hearing her words, Gu Chenzhou tried his best to suppress his agitated emotions.

"Wan Wan, you're not dead? That's great. Come, I'll take you away from here."

As Jiang Wan lay on Gu Chenzhou's back, she tried to absorb energy. But Gu Chenzhou was on the verge of a breakdown and couldn't provide any energy.

She was so worried they would die here, so she forced herself to stay conscious and talk to him, "Gu Chenzhou, don't be afraid, I'm here."

Gu Chenzhou carried her through the forest, stumbling forward, trying to control his mind that was on the verge of collapse. "Wan Wan, you don't be afraid either, I won't leave you behind."

After walking for an unknown amount of time, Gu Chenzhou found a small cave.

He carried the already unconscious Jiang Wan into the cave and placed her on the ground, then immediately rushed out of the cave.

He really couldn't control himself anymore.

Using the last shred of his rationality, he rushed out of the cave, his sole purpose being to prevent himself from misunderstanding her while out of control.

...

Jiang Wan didn't know when she woke up, but there was already light outside the cave.

She looked around her surroundings with a hint of confusion. The pain in her back brought back her memories.

Gu Chenzhou!

When he carried her away to escape last night, his condition was already very bad.

She couldn't remember when she had fallen asleep, but she knew that Gu Chenzhou's situation must have been dire.

She quickly got up and rushed out of the cave. Jiang Wan saw trampled grass on the ground, some trees cut in half, and the surroundings in disarray, but she found no trace of Gu Chenzhou.

She quickly used her special ability to connect with the plants in the forest and soon discovered Gu Chenzhou a few miles away.

Quickly healing the wound on her back with her special ability, Jiang Wan ran in that direction.

Gu Chenzhou lay on a pile of rocks, his body covered in wounds.

These were all self-inflicted during his loss of control.

If he hadn't fallen onto this pile of rocks and hit his head, causing him to pass out, no one knew what he would have done to himself.

Perhaps it was due to their shared brush with death last night, but for the first time, Jiang Wan felt a pang of concern for Gu Chenzhou.

She stepped forward to help Gu Chenzhou up and used her special ability to heal his wounds.

The wounds on Gu Chenzhou's body healed and disappeared at a visible speed, returning to their smooth, unblemished state.

Shortly after his external wounds healed, Gu Chenzhou also woke up.

When he saw Jiang Wan's face, Gu Chenzhou was still a bit confused. "Wan Wan, why are you so close to me?"

Then, when he saw the bloodstains on Jiang Wan's clothes, he suddenly remembered what happened last night.

"Wan Wan, your injury!"

Jiang Wan said with a calm expression, "Oh, I'm not injured. My clothes were just torn, and I got some other people's blood on them."

Gu Chenzhou looked at her.

Did she think he was an idiot?

He could tell if he was injured or not.

However, the Jiang Wan before him, though her face was dirty, still had a healthy flush, and didn't look injured.

Gu Chenzhou looked down at himself and found that his clothes were torn in several places, and there were many bloodstains on them, clearly seeping from his own body.

But he felt no pain at all.

He reached out and touched himself, but there wasn't a single scratch.

This was impossible.

He knew the consequences of his frenzied state. Even with his master guarding him before, he would still sustain some minor injuries from collisions.

But last night, when he had his episode, there was no one around him.

The cuts on his clothes clearly looked like they were made by a sword, yet his body was miraculously unharmed, not even a scratch.

This was too bizarre.
