Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Strange Incident
That’s what made Victoria also curious about Anton’s purpose in suddenly attacking her while she was investigating the accident case she experienced. Initially, she thought Anton was ordered by Fransisca to kill her, but when she mentioned Fransisca’s name, Anton claimed not to know her and Anton’s face did look honest when he said it at the police station. What she knew was that Anton’s purpose in suddenly attacking her was that Anton still held a grudge against her for destroying Amber’s life in an instant, as well as destroying her good reputation.
Thinking about this strange incident made her brow furrow. She looked at her two rescuers with a worried look. "You don’t need to worry about that anymore. The important thing now is that Anton won’t attack me again. He’ll be in prison for at least ten years."
"But does this have anything to do with Fransisca?" Matthias rested his chin on his hand. "I still feel something is odd about this incident. Why is the timing so perfect?"
Ansel put his hands on his hips. "So, you suspect Fransisca ordered Anton to carry out the kidnapping and assault?"
"This could be a diversion so I don’t focus too much on Fransisca."
Matthias took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. "Should I cancel our date tomorrow? The situation outside isn’t conducive."
Hearing her husband suddenly change his mind made her lips curl into a pout. "Matty, didn’t you promise to go on a date outside the house?"
"But if someone kidnaps you again, aren’t you afraid? Honestly, I’m still very traumatized seeing you suddenly kidnapped!"
"I’m no longer afraid. Anton has been arrested, and now all that’s left is to reveal Fransisca’s evil deeds."
Ansel had been silently listening to the couple discuss their plan to capture Fransisca. Meanwhile, he was being asked to collaborate with Fransisca to destroy their relationship. Should he report this important matter as well? If he suddenly betrayed Fransisca, would his life be in jeopardy?
"Victoria, you should just listen to your husband’s advice. It’s for your own good, too."
Victoria pursed her lips. "Okay, I’ll do it for now. I’m sure you’ll be mad at me too, Ansel."
"What is certain is that my job now is to help Matthias protect you."
Of course, Ansel immediately went home after being given treatment by Victoria.
Now, only the husband and wife remained, still relaxing on the living room sofa. Victoria wasn’t actually upset that Matthias had forbidden her from leaving the house during the holidays. However, looking at her husband’s still bruised face shattered her heart.
"Matty, it looks like you’re right. We really can’t date outside the house for a while."
Matthias gently stroked his wife’s head. "After this whole thing is over, I promise to take you on a date outside the house. If necessary, I’ll even hold a wedding party for us."
Victoria’s heart pounded as she imagined herself wearing a wedding gown and walking down the aisle with Matthias. But would her dream come true anytime soon? She still hadn’t managed to find any evidence to arrest Fransisca. She’d even tried speaking with the police, but no one was aware of the accident two years ago.
Matthias kissed the back of her hand for a few seconds. "Besides having a wedding ceremony, I also want us to go on a honeymoon to some places."
"But, for the current situation, I still haven’t thought about that."
"Actually, I’ve been planning this for a long time. I’m sure we can solve all these problems."
Victoria smiled shyly, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Where are you taking me on your honeymoon?"
"Any place you like. You don’t have to choose, we can visit them all." Matthias held his wife’s hands. "Besides, I want to do a pre-wedding photoshoot abroad too. Maybe we could do it in Switzerland. I want to go on holiday with you too in a country that has very beautiful views."
Victoria hugged her husband’s muscular body tightly, slowly stroking his back. "I want to. I can’t wait to do everything with you."
"Then, now we have to think about how to finish this quickly."
A weary sigh escaped her lips. "Actually, I met Gianna earlier this afternoon."
Matthias’s eyes widened. "What? Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?"
"Because I don’t want you to worry too much about me." Her head lowered. "I’m sorry, Matthias."
"It’s okay. I won’t scold you. But, why do you suddenly want to meet her?"
"I made a deal with her."
"What deal?"
"I’ve tried to get her to confess everything. But she seems determined to defend her evil daughter." Victoria ruffled her hair in annoyance. "How strange. Why does she have to act like she’s the main villain?"
Matthias furrowed his brows. "But, didn’t you actually consider her the main villain all along?"
"After further consideration, Gianna couldn’t have done all of this. Furthermore, Fransisca’s behavior leading up to the accident was very strange. That’s why I planned to get Gianna to at least speak up for us. I wanted to reduce her sentence in exchange."
"But, I’m sure Gianna won’t be that easy to cooperate with. A mother will do anything to protect her child."
Victoria pursed her lips as she stroked her stomach. "Just like me. I felt so hopeless when I lost our child."
Matthias also feels sad every time he remembers his wife’s miscarriage. However, that doesn’t mean he immediately gives up hope. Instead, he wants revenge on the person who killed his baby.
"If Gianna wouldn’t help us, what would you do now?"
"Actually, I have the last card that can reveal the crimes committed by Fransisca in an instant."
Matthias’s eyes widened. "Don’t tell me you want to get Lena to support us?"
"Of course. The only assistant Fransisca trusts the most is Lena."
"But she already thinks of Fransisca as her own sister. I’m sure it’ll be harder to persuade her than it was to persuade Gianna."
Victoria lifted the corners of her lips. "That’s why now I have a way for Lena to help us."
