Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Ansel and Laura
The man who saved Laura this time was Ansel. Since he had helped Matthias and Victoria so much, he was now confident enough to use all his strength to save this beautiful woman. He kicked and punched the thugs in the face one by one with agility, even though he had been punched several times, leaving his face bruised.
Laura was amazed to witness this rescue operation firsthand. She wanted to help Ansel, but she couldn’t fight herself. She was forced to stay where she was.
Luckily, Ansel managed to win the fight. He grabbed Laura’s hand tightly and ran out of the parking lot before the thugs caught up with them again.
They entered the restaurant together and took their seats together. Ansel took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, staring at his old friend, who still looked frightened.
"Are you okay?"
Laura nodded. "Thank you for saving me." Her eyes fell on her friend’s bruised face. "Ansel, you’re hurt."
His head hung down in shame. "Actually, I don’t mind because I’m used to fighting like this." Ansel was a little nervous facing a friend he hadn’t spoken to in a while. "By the way, when did you come back to town? Why didn’t you tell me?"
Laura laughed awkwardly, shaking her head. "Your question is the same as Matthias’s."
"Wait a minute! Did you meet him?"
"Yes, I met him and his wife at another restaurant. But since this one was full, I had to choose this one." She lowered his head for a moment, embarrassed. "By the way, thanks for saving me. I didn’t expect you to be such a good fighter."
Ansel’s smile widened. "This is all thanks to Matthias, who’s been asking for my help."
Laura furrowed her brows. "Weren’t you and Matthias really close? How are you two getting along now?"
"It’s a very long story. So, Matthias’s current wife is my ex-fiancée."
Laura widened her eyes. "What?! So previously you and Victoria were dating."
"Yes, but Matthias was the one who managed to steal my ex-fiancée first. So, I was forced to give up Victoria for him."
"But haven’t you ever thought about stealing Victoria from Matthias? After all, you’ve already proposed to her, and Victoria wants to marry you too."
"Laura, in your eyes, am I a jerk?"
"No. In fact, you’re a very good man in my eyes. That’s why I really regret Victoria leaving you."
"Even though Matthias is now married to Victoria, I never wanted to destroy their relationship."
"But, won’t you regret it?"

Laura nodded weakly. "Of course, because Matthias has been my best friend for a long time."

"My advice, as your best friend, is to just listen to your heart. If you don’t want their relationship to end, then you should just follow it. Because I know you’re very different from Amber. You are a kind and innocent woman."
Laura nodded, looking at her friend anxiously. "Now I want to treat you. After we eat dinner, I’ll take you to the pharmacy."
Ansel smiled shyly. "It’s okay. I can take care of myself."
"You can’t refuse. You have to come with me first."
After dinner, Laura didn’t talk nonsense. She actually stopped by the pharmacy to pick up some medicine. Afterward, she got into Ansel’s sedan and began treating her friend’s bruised face.
She gently rubbed the ointment on his cheek so her friend wouldn’t feel any pain. "If you feel any pain, you have to tell me."
The longer Laura leaned forward, the more Ansel’s heart raced. He felt his cheeks grow warmer, hoping Laura wouldn’t notice, as he was so embarrassed.
Laura actually felt her friend’s cheeks suddenly warm. Was it because she suddenly applied medicine to his face, even though he’d never acted this way before? However, she admitted that Ansel’s behavior was similar to Matthias’s. Is Ansel still single?
