Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Spending One Night Together Part II
Victoria hadn’t played with her husband in a long time due to their divorce. Although the divorce papers were merely part of her husband’s plan, Victoria still didn’t consider his divorce a joke. They had stood face to face in the courtroom. Remembering that horrific moment made her body stiffen. However, after hearing the truth from her husband, she now understood. She wouldn’t act childishly anymore.
Victoria had trouble sleeping, not because she was sad, but because she was so happy to finally be able to sleep with her beloved husband tonight. She missed his handsome face and sweet smile so much.
"Tory, don’t you want to sleep?" Matthias asked, pinching his wife’s cheek.
"I still want to see you." Her right hand traced her husband’s handsome face from forehead to lips. "You’ll suddenly disappear from me again. I’m afraid."
"How about I stay at our house again?"
Victoria shook her head quickly. "Don’t. Your plan will fail. Many eyes are watching us. Moreover, my stepmother must have had someone watching us all this time."
"But, can you sleep without me? Can you eat breakfast alone?"
Seeing her husband’s intense concern for her made her laugh softly. "I knew it, you wouldn’t let me go from the start. If you truly hated me and didn’t want this marriage, you wouldn’t let me sleep with you even though we’ve already signed the divorce papers."
"I’ll sort this all out soon. When it’s all over, I’ll propose to you the right way."
Victoria narrowed her eyes. "You’ve already proposed to me twice in different ways. Will you propose again? Aren’t you tired?"
"Because you and I are no longer husband and wife because I acted too far before."
"I still consider you my husband. I won’t consider our relationship over. We can still communicate in our free time."
"Tory..."
Victoria reached for her husband’s right hand, which still had his engagement ring on it. "You’re still wearing my ring. This simple thing already proves that you really want this marriage."
Matthias kissed his wife’s cheek and stroked her head. "I love wearing your ring. In fact, I want to wear it forever. Now that Amber’s controlling me no longer."
"But, how do you deal with her extremely bad temper?"
A harsh sigh escaped his lips. "Every time I talk to her, it always ends in an argument. The wedding dress comes up, then the venue, then the pre-wedding photos, and finally, the honeymoon location. That’s the most annoying of all."
"Even though she could choose the honeymoon location she liked."
"I actually mentioned all the honeymoon destinations you’d love. But she absolutely hated them." Matthias smiled brightly, embracing his beloved wife. "Thank goodness she hated them. It means her tastes are very different from yours."
"Matty..."
"I want to be with you a little longer before we have to go back to acting tomorrow."
"But, we can still communicate with each other before going to bed."
"Is just a phone call enough for me to be satisfied?"
"Judging by your personality, it seems like you’ll never be satisfied. You’re too spoiled with me."
Matthias kissed his wife on the lips. "I’ve been pampering you ever since you were pregnant."
"I won’t be able to sleep if you’re being too sweet." Victoria kissed her husband on the lips as well. "By the way, can I go on a date with Ansel tomorrow?"
Hearing such ambiguous words, Matthias immediately broke the hug. "Why do you sound so enthusiastic about going out with him?"
Victoria laughed mischievously, lifting her husband’s chin. "Are you jealous?"
"I’ll be mad if you take it seriously. You’re still my wife."
"I love it when you’re jealous. If you weren’t, you’d be completely insane."
"I definitely won’t let Ansel treat you this way. Even though he and I are good friends now, I won’t let him marry you!"
"Even though you previously let me marry him."
Matthias rolled his eyes. "Tory, I completely forgot what I said earlier. This time I won’t say anything carelessly."
Victoria winked coquettishly at her husband. "Before we act tomorrow, I want to have breakfast with you first."
"That’s one of the reasons I asked you to sleep with me today."
The next day, Victoria woke up early so she could see her husband’s face before she had to completely shut him out. While he was still asleep, she gently stroked his head. She had been staring at his handsome face for almost a minute, he suddenly kissed her lips, causing her to stare wide-eyed.
"This is the result of you staring at me all this time." Matthias winked his right eye.
Victoria smiled shyly and kissed her husband’s lips too. "I love seeing your face every morning."
"By the way, I want to cook breakfast for you first."
Her eyes widened. "What? Your mother will be angry if you cook!"
"It’s okay. It’s been a long time since I cooked for you." His eyes sparkled as he gazed at his wife’s beauty in the morning. "You can cook with me later, too."
Now, everything this husband and wife were doing felt like their world belonged to them alone. Matthias was focused on cooking, while Victoria accompanied him, hugging him from behind. So engrossed in their intimate time in the kitchen that they didn’t notice Lucretia watching from behind with Charles.
Lucretia finally realized that her son could truly smile thanks to Victoria’s presence in his life. She grew increasingly regretful for continuing to destroy the couple’s already sweet relationship.
"I’ve never seen Matthias this happy in a long time."
Charles smiled warmly as he watched the couple cuddling in the kitchen. "Matthias hated cooking before he met Victoria. But thanks to Victoria, he loves it. You should have thanked Victoria from the start for changing your son’s personality."
"Therefore, I deeply regret having tried to separate them before. Now I don’t want their relationship to be ruined again."
"But, it’s going to be very difficult now. Have you forgotten that your daughter-in-law’s life is still in danger?"
