Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Should I Sign Divorce Paper? Part I

Victoria was understandably furious to see Amber still resorting to such cheap tricks to provoke her. She could already guess that the anonymous person who sent all these photos was someone Amber had commissioned. As usual, Amber never gave up on making her angry over this matter. Especially seeing Amber touching Matthias’s body as if treating him like a real husband, Victoria felt her body was very hot now. Actually, she was curious about how Matthias would react when his friend suddenly wanted to kiss him? Was Matthias actually trying to avoid her?

Victoria couldn’t stand it. If the divorce papers had been issued, she wouldn’t hesitate to sign them. Now, all she could do was maintain her professionalism and get all her office work done on time.

The problem now was that Matthias was still one of her main clients. She still had to see him during work hours. Could she face her abusive husband? She felt like avoiding him, but it would damage her studio’s reputation.

Victoria had been alone in her study for almost two hours, staring at all the photos of herself and Matthias. She could only hope someone would come to her now to calm her troubled mind.

Hearing a sudden knock on the door made him immediately adopt a professional demeanor. She greeted her unexpected visitor with a wide-eyed stare and her mouth agape.

"Ansel, what are you doing here?"

Ansel smiled casually as he sat down on the sofa. "Of course I came to you because I was worried about you."

Now Victoria can only rely on Ansel, who is most sensitive to her feelings. However, she’s curious about how Ansel can be there for her at the right time. Did Jennifer ever tell him about this?

"Actually, I’m a little embarrassed because I’ve been bothering you all this time. Aren’t you busy with work now?"

"I heard everything from Jennifer. I was so angry to hear that Matthias suddenly betrayed you." Ansel exhaled sharply. "I shouldn’t have let you go to him. I never allowed you to marry him in the first place."

"Matthias suddenly filed for divorce from me. But he wanted a peaceful divorce." Victoria lowered her head, massaging her temples. "I still can’t believe it. He’s not the type of man to easily cheat on his woman."

"Could there be another reason why he suddenly wants a divorce?"

"He should have given me a more logical reason. He wanted to divorce me because he felt he wasn’t worthy of being my husband. He decided to let me go. He wanted me to live happily with the man I truly love."

Ansel’s brow furrowed. "Does he actually want to hand you over to me?"

"But I still don’t want a divorce. I love him so much. He’s always protected me in every way." Victoria couldn’t hold back her tears any longer, making her breath hitch. Luckily, Ansel was there to comfort her.

"Victoria, if I were you, I’d be furious. But I wouldn’t hate Matthias, either, because he must have had his reasons for doing this so suddenly. I know Matthias wouldn’t act rashly."

"Do you think Matthias really hates me? Or has he just been acting like one all this time?"

Ansel rested his chin on his hand for a moment. "Since I’m not his wife, I can’t fathom what’s going on in his mind. But, based on my experience as his best friend, he wouldn’t betray you. Even though I used to hate him because he’s your husband, I’ve come to realize that he’s actually better than I am."

Victoria took a deep breath and slowly stroked her ex-fiancé’s back. "What should I do now? Actually, ever since I had an argument with him last night, I’ve been really reluctant to go home. I don’t want to see his face, it makes me even more disgusted."

"Victoria, now I have a question for you. Did you really mean what you said? You’re disgusted by his face, even though you’ve been so doting on him all this time? And you also love him very much. You always look forward to him coming home from work."

"I... do still love him. But, I also don’t want to let my heart be hurt like this."

"If you still love him, you have to maintain your relationship."

Victoria was completely taken aback by her ex-fiancé’s statement, which defied her expectations. While she’d previously been unwilling to let go of her, she was now very supportive of her relationship with her husband at such a critical time.

"Ansel, don’t you regret what you said earlier?"

"Of course not. I love seeing you smile whenever you’re with Matthias. You’re more than worthy of being his wife."

"So, can it be concluded whether I have the right to sign the divorce papers or not?"

"This all depends on your heart now. If you are ready to sign the divorce papers, you can do it. But, I suggest you not to hate your own husband too much."

"Then, what if I’m still not ready?"

"Perhaps you could ask Matthias to give you some time to think. I’m sure he understands how you feel."

Starting tonight, Ansel becomes Victoria’s personal bodyguard. He secretly escorts Victoria along the way, driving their respective cars until they arrive at their luxurious residence. Ansel is deeply concerned about Victoria’s current precarious situation. There are still criminals living peacefully and seeking her life.

Victoria was able to return home safely today thanks to her ex-fiancé accompanying her. Now, Victoria was mentally preparing to face her extremely abusive husband. Upon arriving at their luxurious residence, she walked slowly into the living room. On the living room table, a piece of divorce papers was laid out.

Her eyes welled with tears as she stared at her husband’s signature and thumbprint, already affixed to the letter. Now, she was the only one who hadn’t yet agreed to the divorce papers. She was furious at how easily her husband had agreed to them, even though she still wanted to talk to him properly.

"Matthias, why are you so cruel to me? Do you really want a divorce?"
