Chapter 144: First Meeting Story

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: First Meeting Story

A few days have passed, and Victoria will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. Now, Victoria wants to enjoy her date with her husband to the fullest. She doesn’t want to say any more hurtful things that would hurt him. She’s already planned a weekly date to forget all the bad times she’s had recently.

Since tomorrow was a holiday, it was the perfect day to return home. Besides spending time with her husband, she also wanted to spend time with her grandfather in law, who hadn’t visited in a while. The last time she’d communicated with him was via video call. Although she’d delivered the devastating news of her baby’s sudden departure, he hadn’t blamed her. Instead, he’d grown increasingly concerned about her unstable mental state.

Victoria didn’t feel bored during her hospital stay. Her husband always treated her like a queen. Even though they had previously fought over minor issues. Even seeing his overly sweet face while they watched a romantic movie together in their room made her even more reluctant to leave him.

"By the way Victoria, do you know what scene is being shown now?"

Victoria didn’t answer her husband. Her eyes remained fixed on his handsome face, which shone brightly in her eyes. She didn’t even care what scene was playing. She was more concerned with this beautiful moment before the real war broke out. She didn’t know what else was about to happen to her.

"I don’t know."

Matthias smiled mischievously and gently pinched his wife’s soft cheek. "I knew you hadn’t seen that movie."

"I’ve missed you so much all day. I love seeing your face. I really regret not wanting to see you a few days ago."

"Then, how about I ask my assistant to drive us home tomorrow?"

Victoria’s eyes widened. "But, doesn’t he work on holidays?"

"Don’t worry. I’ll give him extra pay. He definitely won’t refuse my offer."

Victoria admitted that her husband was once again very sensitive to her wishes. If the assistant drove them home, she could have as much fun with him as she wanted in the car. He also had more freedom to talk to her, not having to focus on the road.

She wrapped her arms around her husband’s back tightly. "Matthias, thank you for granting my wish." Victoria hadn’t actually told him about Fransisca’s visit a few days ago. She was a little suspicious that Fransisca had come to her for an ulterior motive. "Matthias, I forgot to tell you one thing."

"What do you want to tell me?"

"Actually, Fransisca visited me a few days ago."

Matthias’s brow furrowed. "Why would she suddenly want to visit you? Haven’t you two barely communicated?"

Victoria shrugged. "I don’t know. But when she brought me a bouquet of roses, I immediately turned her down. I was afraid she’d planted a bug in them."

Matthias stroked his wife’s head gently. "I’m so proud of you. You seem to be very cunning now."

"It’s all thanks to you who taught me." Victoria winked her right eye.

"I’m the one who taught you to be a cunning woman?"

"Of course. You used to be such a perfectionist and cold to me. You’d get annoyed whenever you saw me being too nice to other people." Victoria gently stroked her husband’s head. "Thank you, Matthias."

"We should be wary of anyone. The only one we can trust is Ansel who is willing to help us."

Victoria’s eyes narrowed. "Since when did your relationship get closer? Weren’t you always so annoyed with him before?"

"Because I’ve been very attracted to him from the start. He’s truly dependable. No wonder you wanted to be his fiancée before I managed to steal you away from him."

Victoria smiled mischievously and gently pinched her husband’s cheek. "Would you like me to tell you how he and I met?"

"How? Did he flirt with you at the bar?"

"No. But the first time I met him was in the hospital."

*****

Two years ago...

At that time, Victoria had just miraculously recovered from a serious traffic accident. Because she had been in a coma for months, she had to undergo regular physical therapy. At the time, only Fransisca was willing to accompany her, but Fransisca couldn’t be with her all the time. She was forced to undergo physical therapy alone.

Victoria could only sigh in resignation, feeling like a lost child now. She couldn’t remember anyone. She only knew her stepsister and her stepmother, who had cared for her. Even now, she still wondered who the diamond ring that hung around her neck belonged to.

She held onto parallel bars to help maintain his balance, which was extremely weak. Due to the accident and months of immobility, she was still unaccustomed to walking or doing anything else. As she walked slowly, she kept her head down and stared at her legs, which trembled with each step.

After fifteen minutes of walking, her breathing became increasingly labored and her vision began to blur. Eventually, she nearly collapsed to the floor, unable to maintain her balance even though she was holding onto the parallel bars.

Luckily, someone quickly took the initiative to catch her. She turned around and stared at the handsome man who had saved her like a prince, making it hard for her to blink. That handsome man was Ansel.

"Are you okay?" Ansel asked as he helped Victoria stand up slowly.

Victoria nodded. "Thank you for saving me." Her eyes were drawn to the handsome man in his professional suit, making her feel a little awkward. "By the way, who are you?"

"I’m Ansel. What’s your name?"

"I’m Victoria." Victoria extended her right hand.

"Why are you training alone here? Where is your family?"

"They were so busy working that they didn’t have time to be with me." Victoria smiled happily, making Ansel’s heart flutter. "Thank you for saving me, Ansel."

"After hearing your story earlier, may I accompany you instead of them?"

"What?"

"Actually, I came here to visit an acquaintance of mine. But I accidentally saw you training alone. I couldn’t bear to see a woman struggling alone."
