Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Miracle
One month later...
Their marriage life seems increasingly sweet, even though they’re now focusing on their respective jobs. Victoria isn’t just focused on work, she’s also starting to experience strange symptoms every morning before work. She often experiences nausea and sometimes headaches during work, even though she always gets enough rest. Could this be a sign that she’s pregnant again?
Victoria still hadn’t discussed this with Matthias, even though she’d already bought a pregnancy test just in case. She’d gotten up early to avoid being caught. She was already getting ready to retrieve the test, which she’d hidden in the drawer of her bedside table.
"Tory."
Hearing her husband suddenly call out to her, she swallowed nervously and turned her head. "You’re awake, I see."
Matthias slowly positioned himself, leaning back and looking at his wife with narrowed eyes. "What are you doing?"
Victoria immediately hid the test pack in her pajama pocket. "I’m going to wash my face in the bathroom."
"Then what are you hiding in your pajama pocket?"
Victoria was forced to confess rather than face hatred for hiding something so important. She pulled a pregnancy test kit from her pocket.
Matthias smiled casually as he stared at the test pack. "I knew you’d want to do a secret test. I’ve noticed you’ve been acting unusually lately."
"But, why have you been acting like you don’t know anything all this time?"
"Because I was afraid you wouldn’t be comfortable if I looked like I really wanted kids."
A beaming smile returned to her face. She gently stroked her husband’s head. "I actually want to have a child too. If I’m actually pregnant, I’ll tell you the good news right away."
"Tory, I don’t care if you’re pregnant or not. I just want you to feel less devastated by your previous miscarriage."
Victoria kissed him briefly on the cheek. "Pray for the best outcome. I’m determined to care for my baby until he’s born healthy if I’m actually pregnant."
"I will wait for you here, whether the results are positive or not."
Victoria had been in the bathroom for several minutes, making Matthias nervous, as it was unusual for his wife to stay still for so long. He began pacing back and forth, ruffling his hair to vent his nervousness. He wasn’t really expecting much; he was actually worried about his wife’s condition in the bathroom.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened. He immediately approached his wife, who was smiling brightly in the doorway. The pregnancy test kit she had shown him now showed two lines.
His eyes filled with tears as he stared at the test results, then he hugged his wife tightly. "Thank you, My wife. This time, I’ll make sure you and our baby stay healthy. I’ll make you chicken soup more often."
Victoria wrapped her arms around his neck. "But you’ll hurt your finger again. I love your chicken soup, but you should always be careful when you cook. If you hurt your finger, I’ll be sad."
"I won’t act rashly again." Matthias briefly broke the hug. "We should go to the hospital too. Then we can tell all our friends about the good news."
At lunchtime, Matthias and Victoria visited their extended family home to share the good news after an ultrasound. Victoria showed the ultrasound results to her grandfather-in-law and mother-in-law.
The mother-in-law burst into tears as she stared at the ultrasound results and gazed at her daughter-in-law. "Victoria, congratulations on your pregnancy! I can finally say congratulations the right way."
Charles burst out laughing as he looked at his grandson. "You guys had a long honeymoon, and it finally paid off. It wasn’t a waste of time letting you take two weeks off when you were only planning on going for five days."
Matthias and Victoria exchanged the most beautiful smiles. "A vacation in the Maldives just wasn’t enough for us. That’s why we’re continuing our honeymoon in Santorini."
Lucretia immediately embraced her daughter-in-law enthusiastically. "I don’t want to leave you with this alone. If you need help, I’ll help you right away."
Victoria smiled brightly as she looked at her husband. "Now I have Matthias, who’s always on call. When I was pregnant, he was very strict with me and even scolded me whenever I overworked."
"This is all for your own good. If you want your baby to be born healthy, you have to be healthy yourself," Charles said.

After sharing the good news with their family, it was now their turn to share it with their closest friends. Matthias invited his friends to his home to celebrate this joyous occasion.
Three women stared at the ultrasound results with sparkling eyes and then hugged the main star’s body.
"Victoria, congratulations! I’m finally going to be an aunt soon," Jennifer exclaimed in awe.
Laura gently stroked her friend’s head. "If Matthias gives you any trouble, you can report it to me. I’ll be the one to scold him."
Matthias glared at his friend, his arms crossed. "Could you please not scare my wife?"
"I’m just warning you. Pregnant women are usually quite sensitive. So if she gets stubborn, you should just go along with her wishes!"
"Matthias is quite experienced in this matter," Ansel shook his head and patted his friend’s shoulder. "Matthias, don’t let me, Marcel, and Sawyer get caught up in your personal affairs again."
"Don’t worry. From now on, I don’t want to let my wife do any activities outside the house. I also don’t want to let her lift heavy objects. And I also don’t want to take her to survey project sites."
"Matty, I think you’re overreacting a little."
"Do you want the same thing to happen again?"
Victoria shook her head slowly. "But that doesn’t mean you can’t let me work. Visiting the project site is my job, too."
Laura laughed awkwardly amidst the tense situation. "Then, I’ll be your personal bodyguard, Victoria."
Lena immediately grabbed her boss’s hand enthusiastically. "No need. I’ll remain her personal bodyguard."
Marcel gave her two thumbs up enthusiastically. "You’re truly reliable, Lena."
"I just want the baby to be born safely this time."
