Chapter 214: Chapter 214: Jennifer and Sawyer’s Problem
Matthias and Victoria were forced to postpone their date because their friends suddenly asked to meet at an inopportune time. Matthias had already decided to take his wife to try on wedding dresses. He was furious and wanted to lash out at his friends. Seeing the faces of the couple in front of him disgusted him.
"So, why did you all of a sudden want to meet us? Can’t you invite us to dinner some other time?" Matthias scolded, his voice rising.
Meanwhile, Victoria stroked her husband’s hand to calm him down. "Matty, we should just listen to them first. After all, they helped you so much with the proposal."
Jennifer sighed resignedly. "We’re actually confused about the current situation. Should we just end our relationship?"
Victoria’s gaze immediately widened. "Why? Don’t your parents already approve of your relationship?"
Matthias glanced at the luxury watch on his left wrist. "Can you guys just get straight to the point? I still want to go on a date with my wife."
Sawyer pursed his lips. "Actually, I’m the one in trouble in this case. Do you remember Jacqueline chasing me back then?"
"Yes, I remember that woman was a real parasite. She was one of the main factors that destroyed your relationship with Jennifer."
"Now that woman is after me again. Especially since I accidentally ran into her at the mall, and she stuck up to me at the wrong time."
"I saw it with my own eyes! You let that woman seduce you!" Jennifer snapped, flipping his shirt collar.
Matthias slapped his forehead, hearing that this was such a simple matter for him, yet it had to be brought up so much. This was what made him so reluctant to meet with Sawyer and Jennifer.
"Sawyer, why can’t you be like me, always being firm with other women? If you were a little firmer, Jennifer wouldn’t have misunderstood you until now."
"But, didn’t you yourself also let Amber tease you continuously until your wife kept misunderstanding?"
Victoria grinned at her husband. "Yeah, I remember being jealous when I saw Matthias being so affectionate with Amber. Even Amber always misunderstood that Matthias really liked her."
Matthias swallowed nervously as he rested his head on his wife’s shoulder. "Don’t worry, since she’s been trapping you all the time, I’ve been planning to set a trap for her."
Jennifer rested her chin on her hands for a moment, staring at her lover. "Should I imitate what Victoria did to Amber?"
"My advice as your friend is that I don’t want your relationship to end over a trivial issue that can be easily resolved. At least your families have approved of your relationship, and you’re just waiting for the right moment to get married."
Matthias nodded vigorously. "This way, you won’t have to look for us anymore, even though you could have resolved this quickly! Plus, Jacqueline often hangs out with single men at the club, so you might be able to gather some evidence, Sawyer. Don’t let her keep leeching off you!"
"Okay, maybe I can learn a lot from you. I will collect a lot of evidence."
*****
After dinner with their friends, Matthias and Victoria were able to relax peacefully at their home. Although their date for the day had been canceled, Matthias had bought a special gift for his wife. While touring the shopping center earlier, Matthias had taken the time to buy a pair of binoculars for his wife to use to stargaze before bed.
It didn’t take long to assemble the telescope. Matthias placed it on the bedroom balcony. Victoria, meanwhile, gazed at this special gift with sparkling eyes.
"Matthias, that telescope is so expensive. You shouldn’t have bothered buying it for me."
As usual, Matthias pulled out his signature move, showing off his black card to his wife. "Did you forget? I still have this to buy you anything."
Victoria smiled brightly as she ran out onto the balcony. She lowered her head and shifted it to position her eyes perfectly in the telescope’s aperture.
Her eyes sparkled as she gazed at the beauty of the sky filled with shining stars. "Matthias, you should look at the stars now! The view is even more beautiful!"
Meanwhile, Matthias smiled brightly, wrapping his arms around his wife’s stomach from behind. "I think the most beautiful sight in my life is you, not the stars."
Victoria turned around for a moment and wrapped her arms around her husband’s broad back. "Matty, you’re also the most beautiful sight in my life. If you hadn’t wanted to marry me, I wouldn’t have been able to gaze at the stars in peace."
"I’ve actually been planning this for a long time. But something always gets in the way." Matthias lifted his wife’s body for a moment before reentering the room as the night air grew colder.
Victoria lay down next to her beloved husband on the bed. Starting to feel cold, she hugged him tightly and buried her head in his chest.
"Tory, I’m sorry I made you angry today."
Victoria shook her head quickly. "I’ve never been upset with you. It’s perfectly normal to argue over venue selection. Every couple experiences the same thing. It’s especially difficult to find a venue that means so much to us."
"But, in the end, you can read my mind too. That’s why I bought you a telescope as a gift."
Her eyes sparkled as she stared at her beloved husband. "I’ve always wanted to have an outdoor wedding with a view of the ocean. Hearing the sound of the waves and birds always calms my mind."
"I’m the same as you. I actually want to have an outdoor wedding. I’m bored of attending hotel weddings."
"So, that’s why you’re always looking for a suitable hotel for us?"
"After thinking this through, I really should have asked for your opinion first. If you really wanted an outdoor setting with ocean views, we should have surveyed the location right from the start."
Victoria winked coquettishly at Matthias. "Thank you for granting my wish."
"Next, I want you to do a wedding dress fitting for our pre-wedding photo shoot."
