Chapter 278: Chapter 276: His Relationship with His New Love Is Not Bad
Jian Xi looked at Si Yuhuan. "It seems Director Si has recovered quite well, considering he has time to go shopping with a woman now."
Before Si Yuhuan could say anything, Dan Mingyao couldn’t hold back anymore.
"Of course! Since you can accompany men, he can naturally accompany women. We shouldn’t be the ones accused of being an eyesore. Actually, we don’t want to shop here anymore. Let’s go!"
Dan Mingyao, fuming with anger, dragged Si Yuhuan away as if Jian Xi were the betrayer.
Jian Xi was so angry she almost laughed. Where did this woman come from? Does she even understand the situation?
Fu Shengyuan’s eyes darkened slightly as he chuckled. "I really didn’t expect Si Yuhuan to move on from the troubles of divorce so quickly. Just a few days ago, seeing how persistently he pursued Xixi, I thought I had a rival!"
Jian Xi’s expression soured. "I’m not feeling well; I’ll go back and rest. Mom, if you want to keep shopping, continue with President Fu. Here’s the card."
After saying that, she stuffed the black card into her mother’s hand and turned to leave.
Fu Shengyuan’s thin lips curved into a smile. His gaze shifted from her retreating figure as he turned to apologize to Jian’s Mother. "I might have said something wrong that upset Xixi. Please apologize to her for me, Auntie. Also, we’ve shopped enough for today, so I should head back to the office. Some other day, when you’re in the mood, I’ll reserve the entire mall. That way, no outsiders can bother you, and you can shop to your heart’s content."
"Ah? Great!" Jian’s Mother, not dwelling on it, paid and quickly hurried after Jian Xi.
This girl, she just can’t seem to let things go!
Still fuming, Dan Mingyao dragged Si Yuhuan out of the mall, yet she wasn’t satisfied, mumbling, "Jian Xi seems smart, but why is her mom so hostile towards you? It’s as if they were the ones who went bankrupt, not you!"
Si Yuhuan poked her head. "You were too disrespectful just now. No matter what, she is Jian Xi’s mother. You’ve been abroad too long; your thinking has become completely Westernized."
"OUCH!" Dan Mingyao grimaced. "Equality for all!"
"Her mom’s attitude towards me isn’t wrong. After all, when I visited the Jian Family in the past, my behavior was even worse."
"Ah???" After Dan Mingyao learned the full story, she staggered backward several steps. "It’s all over, all over! It’s all your fault for clouding my judgment."
Hands on her hips, she lectured Si Yuhuan, "If I were her mom, seeing you down and out today, it would have been quite polite of me not to have someone beat you up."
"Hmm." Si Yuhuan was noncommittal.
Previously, when it came to Jian Xi, he had no regard for the Jian Family whatsoever. He showed no respect to Jian Xi’s parents, maintaining an aloof and condescending attitude even when feigning politeness.
He sighed and turned back to look in the direction of the mall.
"What’s wrong? Is the great Si Yuhuan feeling discouraged?" Dan Mingyao said defiantly. "Even if it was impolite, I had to drag you out. Or did you want to stay inside and watch them being all lovey-dovey?"
"We can’t lose this round! Listen to me!"
"You have to let Jian Xi know that you’re not just focused on her; plenty of other women are interested in you! It’s about playing hard to get, making her a little jealous. Understand?"
Dan Mingyao looked like a seasoned love guru sharing her wisdom.
Si Yuhuan replied sarcastically, his expression flat, "Have you ever even been in a relationship? And you’re trying to teach me!"
Dan Mingyao quickly followed him. "I haven’t been in a relationship, but I majored in psychology! Do you even understand female psychology? Learn from me, and you won’t make mistakes or be tricked!"
"Yuhan, I promise, listening to me is much more effective than secretly looking things up on Baidu."
"Dan Mingyao! You snooped on my phone! Get out of my house."
"Hey! My dad entrusted me to your care! If you treat me like this, I’ll go crying to him!"
Si Yuhuan tried to push her away, but she clung to him, whining playfully.
Watching the two of them "flirting and bickering" as they left, a sarcastic smile touched Jian Xi’s lips.
All that talk about a change of heart, about liking me, wanting to remarry... it was all lies! If I believe it, I’m a fool!
Jian’s Mother chased after her, tugging at her arm. "You can’t just leave President Fu like that; it’s so rude. It’s only because he likes you that he doesn’t mind. Otherwise..."
"Mom! Don’t interfere with my marriage!" Jian Xi said, her voice heavy with emotion. "If you don’t want to harm me, stay away from Fu Shengyuan. I’ve told you before, he’s not a man to be trusted."
"So, Si Yuhuan is trustworthy?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Jian Xi snapped, annoyed and embarrassed.
"Don’t think I didn’t see. Just now, your eyes were practically glued to him. And he already has another woman!" Jian’s Mother deliberately rubbed salt into her wounds.
"I wasn’t!"
Jian Xi didn’t want to argue with her mother.
Her mother grabbed her arm forcefully. "There’s absolutely no chance with Si Yuhuan anymore, so forget those baseless hopes! If you don’t like Fu Shengyuan, then go on blind dates for me. Settle your marriage within a month. After that, you can do whatever you want; I won’t interfere."
"This is too much!" Jian Xi had never seen her mother so aggressive and unreasonable. Her mind in turmoil, she turned and left.
"This child!" her mother roared from behind. "So disobedient! You’ll regret this sooner or later."
I need to go home and sort things out with Father Jian!
Wan Yu, utterly exhausted, had been summoned to the Fuyuan Official Residence on short notice.
She walked in, kicked off her high heels—so tired her bones felt like jelly—and, head hanging, collapsed onto the sofa. "Other companies slave away to secure orders," she said, "but here I am, running around telling people *not* to rush their orders with us. Impressive, right?"
Seeing Jian Xi’s grim expression, she stopped joking. "Something wrong?"
"Nothing!" Jian Xi sighed. "My mom is pushing me to get married. She’s taken a liking to Fu Shengyuan."
"Absolutely not!" Wan Yu exclaimed, making Jian Xi jump.
"Fu Shengyuan definitely has ulterior motives where you’re concerned. You can’t rely on a man like that. Ending up with him would be worse than remarrying Si Yuhuan."
Jian Xi forced a wide smile as she handed Wan Yu a cup of water. "In your dreams! He has a new woman now. And she’s quite pretty."
"Dan Mingyao?"
"You know her?" Jian Xi perked up.
Wan Yu quickly hid her awkwardness. "How would I know someone like that? You only asked me about her the other day!"
"Oh!"
"Not happy?" Wan Yu’s gossipy side flared up, and she scooted closer to Jian Xi. "You saw her in person? Is she pretty? How does Si Yuhuan treat her?"
"When did you see her? That day at the restaurant?"
"Oh, you look so upset. Don’t tell me you just ran into them again?"
Jian Xi remained silent.
"You’re so good at guessing, you should become a fortune teller."
"Judging by your expression, I bet you suffered some kind of silent defeat." Wan Yu stroked her chin, speculating further. "Your mother wasn’t with you when you saw Si Yuhuan and that woman, was she...?"
Jian Xi had no choice but to nod.
Is this girl a walking surveillance camera or what?
"No wonder! Your mom’s pushing you towards Fu Shengyuan to spite Si Yuhuan. That guy talks a big game about remarrying you, then turns around and gets entangled with another woman. What a scumbag!"
Suddenly, Jian Xi seemed to have made a decision.
"Get ready," Jian Xi announced. "I’m going on blind dates."
