The houses, plants, and trees within Shijia Zhuang were all filled with twisted flesh and blood.
After utilizing the captured heroines for their 'healing,' he would pump their flesh and blood from underground to the entire village. Although Shijia Zhuang appeared the same on the outside, it had in fact transformed into a hellscape of flesh and blood.
Several eyes “grew” from under the eaves or from beneath the trees, casting furtive glances at Wen Wen and his companions. Meanwhile, Aegel sat in his luxurious mansion watching the live feed.
Shijia Zhuang was now akin to a massive haunted house, with Aegel as its proprietor. Watching guests get so terrified that they soil themselves was his greatest pleasure.
The Black Night Knight gazed at Shijia Zhuang ahead, a glint in his eyes, and was about to step forward. He had already sensed Aegel's presence; at this distance, Aegel could not possibly escape.
However, Wen Wen stopped him. "I feel something is amiss with this place. We should try to probe it first."
The Black Night Knight looked at Wen Wen. "I recall you have puppets, right? It would be good to let a puppet probe it first, as that fellow can't escape now anyway."
Wen Wen shook his head. "Not puppets. Just watch."
With a snap of his fingers, twelve large rocket projectiles appeared on the ground, stunning the Black Night Knight. Wen Wen excitedly pointed to these missiles, saying, "These are the good things I ordered over a month ago. I only got them recently, and I didn't expect them to be useful so soon."
"You must have heard of PP series rocket launchers, the kind that are primarily cheap and sturdy. They can be fired even without a launcher or mount; just ignite them on the ground."
"Normal PP rocket launchers are usually 107mm. The upgraded version I ordered is 300mm!"
"A salvo of twelve can cover an area of six to ten football fields!"
Wen Wen introduced them with a fanatical smile, simultaneously using the surrounding soil to rig up a makeshift support and taking out a torch to ignite them.
"Wait, will you be accurate firing them like this?" Qiao Feiya pulled Wen Wen back.
"Accuracy isn't necessary for these things; the range is large enough. We're not expecting to hit the real enemy. Lord Black Night Knight, please be careful not to let the rockets land on the camp to the left of the village; those are not Corpsemen but ordinary people who've taken the pills."
Wen Wen had exchanged for three sets of these rocket launchers with demon-hunting coins. For him, igniting these rockets felt akin to an ordinary person lighting large firecrackers.
Aegel, observing from within his room, was stunned. Weren't these three martial arts experts? Where did they get rocket launchers?
Before he could fully comprehend what was happening, the rockets landed within Shijia Zhuang, causing violent explosions. Since they were fired crudely from dirt mounds, there was no question of accuracy. However, the target was right in front of them, and the effective kill radius was sufficiently large, so not a single rocket was wasted.
The air carried a pungent smell of burning, the scent of flesh and blood being incinerated. Many Corpsemen were directly torn apart by the power of the rockets and died on the spot. The high regenerative abilities of these Corpsemen were very troublesome for martial artists wielding swords and sabers, but they were too fragile against the saturation attack of the rockets. Ultimately, they were merely low-level monsters, and modern weapons of mass destruction could still affect them.
After the rockets erupted, Aegel finally understood. These three were not martial arts legends at all, but pursuers from the outside world. In his panic, Aegel suddenly became excited. It was time to let them witness his true strength.
Maws opened up on the ground of Shijia Zhuang, and reinforced Corpsemen, with strange flesh and blood growing on their bodies, burrowed out from beneath the earth. Each of these Corpsemen was at least equivalent to a disaster-level esper, and a considerable number were equivalent to disaster-level monsters.
The Black Forest also stirred, and some hidden monsters crawled out of their lairs, heading towards Wen Wen and the other two. It appeared as though the three were surrounded by monsters, creating a desperate scene. However, the three of them were actually the dominant force. Aegel did not intend to annihilate his enemies with these creatures; he merely wanted to see the true faces of his attackers.
The Black Night Knight patted Wen Wen on the shoulder. "Your fireworks earlier were good, but a bit small-scale. Come find me after we get out of here, and I'll sell you some interesting things."
"For example, this." The Black Night Knight tapped his belt, and a behemoth appeared on the ground.
"Holy cow, this thing is amazing!" Wen Wen looked up, utterly awestruck. He found playing with 300mm rockets exciting; he wondered how thrilling this thing would be. "One meter, two meters... damn, this thing is three stories tall!"
The Black Night Knight placed his finger on a touchscreen below the missile. The screen displayed "Verification successful" and initiated a one-minute countdown. He then grabbed Wen Wen and Qiao Feiya and flew them into the sky. Afterward, he threw a black sphere towards the east side of Shijia Zhuang. The sphere released mist, protecting all the martial artists.
"Fools, destroy that thing!"
The monsters, though unaware of what the object was, still attacked the giant missile under Aegel's command. The countdown was a full sixty seconds, and dismantling this metal monstrosity would take them less than three seconds.
However, the moment the first monster touched the missile's casing, it exploded. The shockwave consumed everything nearby, leveling the entire Shijia Zhuang. The reinforced Corpsemen surrounding it, along with the monsters from the mountains and forests, turned into dust. Only a few slightly stronger ones barely retained a spark of life.
The cursing trees around them turned to dust if they were too close, were carbonized by the intense heat if they were at an intermediate distance, and caught fire if they were farther away, with the flames spreading outwards. The blast radius of this bomb was outrageously wide, and it seemed to have an additional killing effect on monsters. Compared to this, Wen Wen's twelve rockets were like mere firecrackers.
The smoke plume formed by the explosion coalesced into a massive red Venus flytrap in the air, which looked somewhat familiar to Wen Wen. The Black Night Knight boasted to Wen Wen, "You must know of the 'Crimson Rose,' right? A deadly weapon the Federation took a long time to develop."
"I got my hands on their research data, and so I created this 'Crimson Venus Flytrap'! It's much more powerful than those small-minded weapons from the Federation."
Some say guns are a man's romance, but Wen Wen now scoffed at that notion. Superbombs were a man's romance! Qiao Feiya rolled her eyes, watching the two men excitedly discuss bombs. She didn't understand these things; swords were romantic, everything else was heresy.
"Black Night Knight! It really is you!!"
Aegel, completely unharmed, floated into the air and roared furiously at the three, his fighting spirit blazing in his eyes.
